Chapter 4

Author: Cinderella
Natalia replied, "I understand, Mr. Jackson. This is all my fault. Ow!"

She raised her hand to wipe her tears but "accidentally" brushed her fingers against her red, swollen cheek I had slapped.

Frank glanced at her face, and his heart went out to her. He demanded, "Zoey, apologize to Ms. Silva!"

I almost laughed out of sheer anger. "Why should I? My hand still hurts from hitting her. Why don't you ask her to apologize to me instead?"

Natalia stomped her foot in anger, while Frank looked at me and gave a faint, unreadable smile.

He said, "Zoey, what we have is just an arranged marriage. You never interfered in my personal affairs before, so why do you suddenly care now? Natalia is still young. She's bound to be a bit childish and can't take being wronged. Just apologize to her, and we'll let this go. Stop making a scene."

The baby fumed indignantly in my belly, "My dad is such a scumbag! Mommy is always so understanding! How could she be making a scene? She hit the mistress because that vixen deserved it and more!"

I felt a pang in my heart. I wholeheartedly agreed with her words.

I sneered. "Don't flatter yourself. I used to let you be and do as you please, and you just kept pushing further. Why should I keep letting you have your way? I hit her because she deserved it!"

With that, I grabbed my bag and left.

I recalled that my father's birthday was coming up soon. After leaving the hospital, I went to eat at a restaurant. Then, I headed to an auction.

Suddenly, a commotion stirred in the crowd.

I looked over to see Natalia walking arm-in-arm with Frank. Without even glancing around, the two of them took their seats. As soon as Natalia sat down, she pointed at the catalog in her hand and coquettishly said she wanted the necklace on one of the pages.

Ignoring the curious looks from the other audience, I took out my phone and sent a message to Georgia.

The auction began shortly after. Frank bid on every piece of jewelry Natalia said she wanted without hesitation and won.

The glances people cast toward me grew even more sympathetic. My husband was spending lavishly in front of me, his wife, just to please his mistress. It was indeed pitiful.

But the more he spent, the happier I felt. The more proud he looked now, the more miserable he would be in a moment.

The item I had my eye on was a painting. When I raised my paddle to bid, my voice made Natalia and Frank turn around in surprise. Natalia looked at me, smiled tauntingly, and suddenly raised her paddle to raise the price by 500 thousand dollars.

She had only been bidding on jewelry before. Now, she was competing with me for a painting and raising the price by 500 thousand dollars in one go. It was obvious she was challenging me.

After several rounds, she called out an exorbitant price of three million dollars.

A wave of murmurs rippled through the crowd. The painting wasn't worth that price. So, I didn't bother competing with her anymore.

With the final hammer strike, Natalia shot me a smug look. Beside her, Frank helplessly but dotingly tapped her nose.

My baby scoffed in annoyance.

I took out my phone. Upon seeing the messages from both the lawyer and Georgia, I knew everything had been taken care of.

I gently stroked my belly and spoke to the baby in my mind, "Don't be mad, sweetie. In a moment, they won't be laughing anymore."

After the auction ended, Frank and Natalia deliberately waited for me at the entrance.

Natalia's voice was brimming with poorly concealed delight. "Oh, dear, Mrs. Jackson! I'm so sorry. Mr. Jackson said I'd suffered unfair treatment earlier, so he promised that I could buy anything I liked at the auction to cheer me up.

"I'm fond of that painting too, so I had no choice but to shamelessly compete with you for it."

I took out my phone to send a message before smiling enigmatically. "You are pretty shameless."

Natalia choked on her words, and her cheeks flushed.

Frank's phone buzzed. He took it out to look. In the next second, he froze with a dumbfounded expression on his face.

At the same time, a staff member from the auction approached. "Sorry, Mr. Jackson. The system shows that the card under your name is unable to complete the transaction."

My parents turned her away each time on the grounds that I needed to rest.A little over a month later, I gave birth to my baby. As Frank and I walked out of the courthouse, my baby's voice was brimming with uncontrollable excitement. "Yay! Mommy is finally free from the scumbag! From now on, you can focus on your career and just be yourself!"I stroked my belly and smiled contentedly.Beside me, Frank let out a cold snort. "Zoey, I hope you won't regret this in the future."Before I could respond, my baby immediately shot back, "Mommy won't regret it at all! You, on the other hand, may regret it later. No matter how desperately you come begging, Mommy won't take you back!"I tucked away the divorce papers. "Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Jackson. Not only will I not regret it, but I even hope I never see you again."After divorcing Frank, I focused on my pregnancy at home while also learning how to manage a company. Dad's overseas business expansion was going smoothly. Amelie would occasionally share her experience with me, too. In just a few months, I improved rapidly. When my baby was eight months along,

Soon, it was time for another prenatal checkup. As soon as my parents and I stepped out of our house, we saw Frank waiting by the roadside. He said he was the child's father and insisted on accompanying me to the checkup. He had been showing up every day lately, and it was impossible to drive him away. So, I had no choice but to let him come along. My baby was perfectly healthy, so I directed all my focus to my divorce with Frank. But just as the evidence was nearly all set, Frank sent me the signed divorce agreement.I couldn't figure out why he suddenly agreed to the divorce. But since he had signed and there was no need to go to court, I was more than happy to accept this turn of events. My guess was that he was probably afraid it would escalate to a lawsuit. With that weight lifted off my shoulders, I finally relaxed and stayed home to focus on my pregnancy.News of our divorce had already spread, so my family's business was inevitably affected. Dad left early and came home

Georgia was rendered speechless for a moment. But she stubbornly retorted, "It's your fault you can't win Frank's heart. Besides, who doesn't put on a show now and then in the business world? You're just too narrow-minded!"Her words cut into my heart like knives. My nose stung as tears came.My baby sensed the shift in my emotions and comforted me from within, "Mom, don't listen to Grandma. She's just blindly taking her son's side!"I gave a bitter smile and stroked my belly to soothe her.I knew all that. After all, Frank was her flesh and blood, while I was an outsider to her at the end of the day.Staying any longer would only make me feel worse. So, I took a deep breath and stood up.I said to her, "I'm definitely getting a divorce. I'll raise my baby myself. But if you want to see her, I'll bring her over to visit you in the future. I'll be leaving now."With that, I got up and left. Behind me, Georgia furiously shouted that no matter what, the baby in my belly was a child

Frank stared at me with a sullen expression for a long time. Then, he suddenly let out a laugh of realization. He said, "So that's why you suddenly want a divorce. You're trying to use the child and divorce to control me."The baby spoke up, exasperated, "He's way too narcissistic. It's not like he's cash. Why would anyone want to keep him forever?"I nodded in agreement and explained to Frank patiently, "You're overthinking it. I really want a divorce. Take a look at the agreement. If there's no issue, sign it so we can finalize it as soon as possible."Frank's expression stiffened. There was a complicated look in his eyes as he turned to look at me. Then, he sighed helplessly like he was compromising. In a tired voice, he said, "Zoey, stop throwing a tantrum. You've just gotten pregnant. If we get divorced, how will you live on your own? Who would even want you in the future?"I let out a scoff. "I have hands and feet. I can support myself and the child. Besides, is it a must f

Frank immediately refuted, "How is that possible?"As the CEO of a company, how could he possibly be short on money? The baby cheered inside my belly, "Mommy is amazing! Grandma froze his card. Let's see if he can still give you a hard time now."The staff member looked troubled as well. "Sorry, Mr. Jackson. The system shows that the transaction cannot go through."Frank pulled out his phone and called the bank. When he learned that Georgia had frozen the money in his account, his expression stiffened. Then, he shot me an angry look. After hanging up, his expression was incredibly grim. He glared at me fiercely before saying through clenched teeth, "I'll have someone bring the money over in a day."Frank was the heir of an incredibly rich family who had grown up spending money freely. He was probably facing a situation like this for the first time. His face flushed red with anger. As I was in a rather good mood, I waved my phone at him and said, "Remember to check the document
