My blood boils at the sight of her happily chatting away with another man. It isn’t her shy smile that bothers me though, it’s the way I catch that man undressing her with his gaze.

Little rose doesn’t understand his stare and mistakes it for an innocent glance. That man is anything but naïve.

The two of them turn to look at me at the sound of my footsteps. Little rose seizes me up from head to toe, worry shining in her eyes. All the joy and relaxation on her face from earlier vanishes into thin air whilst the man slyly expresses his displeasure at the sight of me, grimacing.

Without delay, I take little rose’s hand and lift her off her seat, dragging her behind me. A moment later, my grip lightens on her wrist when I faintly see a red imprint of my fingers on her pale skin.

Without saying a word, I shove her in my car and lock the door. Getting into the driver’s seat, I let my fury take over and drive like a maniac.

“What was that about?” She asks with fury.

Denzel Flynn******I woke up with nightmares again today. It has become a custom for me to wake up on today every year with the memories of that night resurfacing as a nightmare. My dad met my half-Japanese mom on a business tour to Japan. She was a university student when they first met, and Mom always said that she found his golden head strange but beautiful. They got married after Mom graduated from university. Her parents disapproved of my dad's foreign lineage. But she married him anyway. They spent sixteen years of successful marriage, during which Chloe and I came into this world. Our life was a happy one too until that one night that took everything from me. That day, Mom and Dad were coming home after a board meeting. It was raining heavily, and Dad's car skidded on the highway, turning over. By the time the ambulance arrived, their corpses had been burnt to the color of coal.I look at the weather from the window and wonder if that day had been as desolate as today. My ear

Unknown POV******The moment Layla opens her eyes, a strong cologne and impenetrable darkness pierce her senses. And a migraine follows suit. Her arms fly out in the dark by instinct. It isn't until she knocks her sore wrists onto something that she realizes that she's tightly bound in place.Gradually the memories come back to her, and the panic rises in her heart. She slams her arms against the solid space, uttering muffled words. All this to gain attention from anyone passing by.In time, she hears rapid footsteps, and her struggle only grows louder. She silently wishes that the noise outside comes from a stranger. When the trunk opens, dim light pierces Layla's eyes, momentarily blinding her. She squints before regaining her vision and spotting the shadow helping her out of the car.To her, he seems a bit too short to be Flynn."You okay? What are you doing in his car?" Marcus inquires. His tone expresses more curiosity rather than worry for Layla's condition. He isn't in the sh

Naomi West******The wind outside is softly blowing. It's cold yet comforting, like a massage after a tiring day. I stand on the balcony, welcoming the raindrops alongside my little garden.Little demon has gone to sleep early after a light snack. The thought of him brings the corners of my lips up peacefully. And the picture of that Devil flutters my stomach. I can feel the butterflies multiplying inside me. I haven't felt so giddy in a while. These days remind me of the sweet times six years ago.Yet, I prefer this timeline more.I hear the vibration of my phone for the umpteenth time. It's been ringing non-stop since the afternoon. And the caller is none other than Marcus.I don't hate him. However, I'm not ready to face him yet.Not sparing another glance at my phone on the sofa, I look outside again. That is until I hear the doorbell ring.My heart picks up its beat. Before my mind registers, my feet carry me to the hall and to the door. The butterflies in my stomach come alive.

Denzel Flynn******Little rose has a lot of questions for me lately. I don't mind them, but they chill me out. The last six months have been a blast, to say the least. But I'm having doubts about how to further continue my relationship with her.Should I say my memory has returned?Or would coming clean about everything would be better? No, can't do that. She'll probably kill me for real this time.Unable to come to a decision, I do what I do best. I take out my phone and call his number. He picks up after the fifth ring. “I have a life, in case you didn't know." Jacob groans from the other side. It's seven in the evening, but his voice is surprisingly hoarse. It's not even workday. I wonder what he is even doing."And what are you so busy with?" I drawl."Finding a wife." He answers after ten seconds. I know because I was counting. "Well, let's put aside your imaginary problems for now, I have a real crisis on hand." I roll my eyes, having a hard time trusting his words."Sister-

Unknown POV******“I take that your breakfast went well.”“I see you’ve been demoted to a stalker now.” A pair of eyes set on the beautiful couple flirting outside the cafe. They belong to none other than the man's old flame, Layla Kingsley. “Someone has to be the good guy and ward off evil ones like Stallon.”“He’s not a bad guy, not any more than you, anyway.”“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Denzel jogs next to Naomi and entwines their arms together.Layla's eyes squint at that picture, her grip on the binoculars tightening.“Shall we head to our date now?” Denzel asks. The way he smiles almost makes Layla snicker. Since their time together, the only time she's seen Denzel smiling is after he's done torturing someone in the meeting room. She's never craved his affection. That isn't her mission. To her, Denzel is more like a pair of diamond shoes she was about to try, but someone else snatched it from the aisle first.“I don’t remember you asking me out or me saying yes.”Layla

  • Back With The Billionaire's Heir   Chapter 64: Future Concerns

I have been feeling guilty towards Marcus all night. Even though I made that Devil sleep on the couch and didn’t spare him a single glance this morning, my heart weighs heavy when I think of Marcus and how unfair I’ve been to him.Which is why the first thing I did in the morning was to schedule a meeting with him. I wanted to take Ben out as well, but Denzel probably knew about my intention and ended the discussion before it even came up.On the plus side, at least Marcus and I’ll be able to have a conversation like proper responsible grownups—on the downside, I won’t have any shield to hide behind. The bell jingles on the cafe’s door, warning us about a new presence. I look up and notice Marcus walking up to my table. For some reason, I can’t bring myself to smile.“Marcus, hey.” I speak, but even my tone sounds too monotonous. He nods, acknowledging my presence, but doesn’t speak up.Gathering courage, I say. “About last night. I’m truly sorry. Had I known beforehand, I would’ve d
