Chapter 3

Author: Snail
When I got back, Raven's parents were already seated at the dining table, waiting for me. They asked, "Allie, you're back so soon from trying on dresses? Why didn't Raven come back with you?"

I told them he had something to take care of, and his mother, Delilah Burton, grumbled, "The marking ceremony is only three days away. He should be spending more time with you."

Raven's father, Edward Fuentes, chuckled and tried to smooth things over. "It's good for a man to be focused on his career. Once you're married, you'll have all the time in the world together."

My heart ached as I looked at the two people who genuinely adored me. Even so, I braced myself and said, "Mr. and Mrs. Fuentes, I'm not going to marry Raven. I've already filed the paperwork to leave the pack. In three days, I'll be gone."

Delilah widened her eyes in shock as she hurriedly pressed for answers. "Did Raven hurt you? Please don't make any rash decisions. Raven just has a hard shell—he really does care about you. And you care about him too. If two people love each other, why not be together?"

Edward nodded in agreement. "That's right! Raven just doesn't know how to say the right words to make girls happy, but he loves you in his own way. Once he figures things out, he'll come around."

They had said the same things in my last life. However, trying to force love would only end in regrets for everyone.

I gently held Delilah's hand and said earnestly, "Mrs. Fuentes, I don't want to lie to myself anymore. The truth is… Raven never loved me—not even once. Last night, I had a terrible dream. After we got together, things didn't go well at all.

"He'd rather spend his nights patrolling or drinking himself sick than be anywhere near me. He was miserable with me. And at 28, he died saving me."

At this point, I broke down in tears, too choked up to continue speaking.

Delilah stared at me in stunned silence before mumbling, "But… it was just a dream. It's not real."

I sniffled and gave her a pained smile. "Maybe it's not. But what if it is? What if it's a warning? I'd rather not be with him at all than see him suffer—or worse, lose his life. I don't want to be the reason he's in danger, even if it's only a dream.

"I'll leave the pack. I'm joining my mentor's herbal research team at the Northern Plains. Wherever life takes me, I'll always think of you both."

Delilah wiped at her eyes. "You're a good girl. It's too bad that Raven doesn't realize how lucky he is. If you can't be our daughter-in-law… We'll treat you like you're our own daughter. Come visit us whenever you can."

I threw my arms around her, tears in my eyes but a smile on my face. "I will. Three days from now, let Raven be with Lyra. I've already had her wedding dress altered. I just want Raven to be happy no matter what."

Raven's parents broke down in tears, heartbroken to see me go. Nonetheless, they could tell I'd made up my mind, and in the end, they respected my choice.

I thought about Raven's second regret—I guess this took care of that now. The time machine would only keep me on this timeline for 36 hours, and now, I had one last wish to fulfill. I just hoped everything would go smoothly.

It took a long while before Raven finally spoke again, his face pale and defeated as he let out a bitter laugh. "All this time, I thought you were the one who stabbed Lyra. Turns out, she was the one who harmed you terribly and made me blame you, hurt you, and leave you in that dangerous forest. Allie, I was such an idiot."He reached out and clutched the hem of my sweater, his grip tight and trembling. "Allie, I was wrong—really, truly wrong. I deserve everything that's happened, but I love you. Please... just give me a chance to make it up to you. I swear, I'll spend the rest of my life treating you right. Please believe me."Raven said he would protect me, and I believed that. In my memory, he had protected me twice. He had always been a good brother to me. I looked at him and gently shook my head. "Raven, I've already forgiven you. You are a good person, but... I don't love you. I only see you as a brother, and I'm already in love with someone else."Raven stared at me in disb

Two years later, Mom insisted that I come home to celebrate her birthday. As it happened, I had just wrapped up a major project, so I happily agreed to her request. Returning to the Silvermoon pack stirred up a sense of familiarity in me—warm and welcoming, yet tinged with a subtle ache. Nonetheless, that ache disappeared the moment I saw Dad and Mom again. At the mansion, they had already prepared a full table of food. The second she saw me, Mom's eyes filled with tears as she pulled me into a tight hug. "Allie, you finally came back to see us! Do you have any idea how much we've missed you?" Even Dad's stern face softened into a smile.I handed them some local specialties from the Northern Plains, and they gave me several pieces of jewelry in return. As Mom handed me more clothes, she said, "A girl should always look her best. Don't be stingy with yourself. If your clothes get old, I'll sew you new ones."As I tried on the outfits, Mom shared plenty of gossip. She told me Lyr

The day Raven abandoned me in the forest, I pushed through the pain and ran for my life, barely escaping the Rogues surrounding me. In the end, I had no choice but to set the forest on fire just to drive them away.I recognized those Rogues as those who had taken Lyra in my previous life, but I never expected they actually knew her. It turned out that the entire tragedy that happened in my past life had been orchestrated by Lyra herself, just to make Raven regret marrying me and live in guilt for the rest of his life. While Raven was tormented by remorse, Lyra seized the chance to leave the Silvermoon pack and continue her life as someone else's mistress in another pack. After learning the truth, I didn't plan to change anything. I simply made a call to my mentor, Oscar Walsman, and asked him to send someone to pick me up.There was less than a day left before I'd be pulled back by the time machine, taking with me all the memories from ten years in the future. But once the course of

Raven felt his heart tighten as he realized Delilah was right—all of these accusations had come from Lyra. Still, he stubbornly insisted, "But I saw Allie hurt Lyra with my own eyes, more than once. Once, at the mansion, I personally witnessed her pushing Lyra down the stairs from the second floor!"Delilah smirked. "Have you ever checked the security footage to see what actually happened?"She waved her hand, directing someone to bring up the surveillance video from that day. The footage clearly showed Lyra blocking my path at the top of the second-floor stairs, her face showing a malice Raven had never seen before.Lyra sneered. "So what if Raven's parents like you? I tell Raven every day how those old fools pressure him, and how shameless you are, trying to be his mate at any cost!"She continued, "Raven only loves me and believes every word I say. I'll tell him you're evil and make sure he sees it with his own eyes. Do you really think he'll still mark you after that?"As soon

"What did you just say?" Raven roared in disbelief. His heart felt like it had been struck by a sledgehammer, sending sharp pain through his chest. He forced himself to stay calm and headed straight to the doors. But just two steps in, his legs gave out beneath him, and he nearly collapsed. Darren rushed forward to hold him up. "Where is she now? I need to see her," Raven demanded. "Raven, wait! Our ceremony is about to begin!" Lyra called out, lifting the hem of her gown as she hurried after him, her face filled with panic."I'm cancelling the marking ceremony!" Raven coldly, without so much as a glance back. And with that, he followed Darren out of the hall. Darren hurriedly led Raven to the healer's lodge, and the latter violently pushed open the cabin door."Wait, Raven, you can't go in yet." Several female healers tried to block him, but he pushed them aside. With trembling hands, he lifted the white cloth covering the face of the body, then froze. He mumbled, "This...

At dusk, I arrived alone at the observatory and found the best spot to watch the meteor shower, feeling a hint of anticipation in my heart. I didn't know how long I'd been waiting when my phone rang. I answered happily, only to be met with Raven's furious accusations."What did you say to my parents? Why did Lyra run out of the pack crying after taking their call? You're truly evil, just like Lyra said you were! Now she's missing—are you happy now?" If Raven had been merely dissatisfied with me before, speaking with a sharp edge, now I could feel it—he truly hated me. I was shocked. After all, this didn't happen until a month later.Back then, Lyra had also run away from the pack and encountered Rogues at the forest's edge. By the time Raven found her, she was already under attack and being dragged away.Without hesitation, I rushed to the place where the incident had happened in my previous life. I had been wondering how to fulfill Raven's third regret, and now I finally had

I hurriedly caught up with Raven, walking alongside him on the street. Nearby, a couple was excitedly chatting. "There's a once-in-a-century meteor shower tonight. They say couples who watch meteor showers together will stay happy forever. Babe, we have to go to the observatory!" I slowed my pace as I remembered this same day in my past life. Back then, I had been full of hope, begging Raven to accompany me to the observatory. However, he had coldly refused, saying, "Our marking wasn't even voluntary. Do you really think watching a meteor shower will magically make us happy?" This time, I no longer held any expectations. But to my surprise, Raven spoke first. He said, "If you want to see the meteor shower, I can go with you. But I'll be busy until the ceremony, so don't bother me again before then."I looked up at him, stunned by his sudden offer. But when I thought about it, it wasn't so strange. After all, Raven might have a sharp tongue, but he had a good heart. Otherwise,

The time machine really did take me back to the past, but unfortunately, not to before I met Raven Fuentes. Instead, I found myself three days before our marking ceremony, when I was trying on wedding dresses at the bridal shop. When I opened my eyes, I saw Raven standing right before me, alive and breathing. I stared at him wide-eyed, feeling incredibly relieved that he wasn't dead yet. I thought there was still a chance to change things since he was still alive, and I didn't mind the tension between us at all.Raven stood across from me with his hands casually shoved into his pockets, his eyes laced with undisguised contempt. He said, "My parents are using their deaths to pressure me into marrying you, Allie Bradshaw. Is that what you wanted? Even if we go through with the marking ceremony, so what? You'll get nothing out of it, and we won't be happy." I felt a sting at the back of my nose as I faced this ten-year-younger Raven. He hated me and didn't want to be bound to me as
