Chapter 113

Conrad POV

I wake up quite refreshed at 8 am. It's interesting not being woken up by a crisis in the pack. I'm also surprised that Cordelia didn't wake up in a fury when she realized I drugged her. I stick my head out to listen and realize she is still breathing so I just leave her.

I order breakfast and have it delivered to the room. Full English with extra bacon. I enjoy my meal, get ready for the day, and pack ready to leave. It's now 9:30 and check-out is at 10 am. I'm going to have to wake the witch up.

I stare at her asleep on the couch. It's not pretty at all. Snoring away, limbs everywhere and make-up smeared across her face as she drools on the pillow. I don't want to get her scent on me again so I have to work out a way to do this without touching her. My eyes see the champagne. More specifically the bucket that is filled with water from the melted ice. That will work. I remove the bottle and tip the whole thing on her head.

    Connor POVI head outside to where the other hunters are gathered in the forest clearing. We set up the ceremonial table and start laying out our ancient artefacts, our tombs, and clean needles so they can get their hunter marks. We always do the ceremony at sunset.     Liam POVThe rollercoaster on the night of the battle was intense. Exilerating that we won against Malik. Devastation when we lost Lewana and Conrad to the Shadows. Then the hours of fear we had to survive without them before the moon had a chance to bring them back. Every guardian wanted to help and protect them, so we divided into two teams. Sirens and Faes during the day. Phoenix's and Wolves at night. We moved them to the Moon Garden that Conrad has constructed. We figured this would protect them the most. We placed them on a bed we brought outside and monitored them closely. The Sirens cleaned both of them, and the Faes placed flowers around them while tending to the garden, and the Phoenixs lit flame torches around them so they wouldn't be in darkness.     Conrad POVTime works strangely here. I haven't seen the sun or the moon, but there is still a form of day and night. As I entered from the real world at dawn, and it is now night, I hope this corresponds to the real world and that we only have to survive the day before the moon rises. Serena's light seems to have stabilized. It's no longer flickering, but it is still very dim. At least it's there. Lewana is curled up in my lap and snuggled against my chest. I make sure she is as comfortable as possible as I hold her, determined to not only fight the shadows that threaten her but also keep them from giving her more nightmares. It doesn't feel like an entire night has passed when it starts to get light again, but I'm relieved when it does.
