I had been waiting outside my truck for over thirty minutes, and there was no sign of Loa. I thought that maybe she had to stay back for something . . . or maybe she was just feeling a bit shy after the kiss, but when 30 minutes became an hour I immediately became worried.
As soon as I walk into the hall, I ignore all the hushed whispers, and blatant stares, relieved when I noticed that Danielle was still here.
I’m not sure how much time had passed . . . whether it was minutes . . . could be hours. I noticed the paramedics rushing into the house, a man grabbing me by my arm and pulling me away from the body. I felt confused as they picked her dead body off the floor, and placed it on the stretcher. Is that what happened in movies? To my relief, Samuel’s rigid figure angrily rips through the sea of people, policemen quickly following behind him.
“Loa,” Someone whispers into my ear and I hum. “Loa.”Scrunching my face, I swat the person away from my face and they grab my arms. I open my eyes to find Samuel looking down at me'.“Hmph,” I frown at him, he interrupted my sleep.
You used to date Macy?” I ask warily and he lets out a noise.“Yes.”“Oh,” I mutter, a weird feeling settling in my chest. “What happened?”
“So . . . I have a basketball game coming up . . .” Samuel trails as I lay on his chest, the ground wasn’t exactly comfortable, but it would do just for tonight.“Mhm . . . “I tell him so he can go on.“And I’d like you to be there.” The stars that
“Danielle, wait!” My slippers slapped against the polished floors loudly as I chased behind the short girl that was practically storming through the place. She waits until we’re outside before she turns abruptly and glares at me. I was panting by the time I had ceased running, and she just crossed her arms, waiting.“What . . . why are you so mad?” I ask her.“Some best friend you are Loa. When was the last time we spoke?” I feel guilty as I knew she was going to say this and I
When we got home I noticed that the vehicles were there, signaling that the boys had already arrived. Samuel carried my bag over his shoulder, and I walked behind him as he opened the door. There were loud noises coming from the living room, and Samuel sighs loudly.“Are you hungry?”“I’m fine,” I assure him, taking my bag and he frowns at me. “What?”“You should eat something.”
“Samuel?” I call from the outside of his door, knocking softly. I was about to leave, and I didn’t want to do so without telling him, knowing how he’d get. I slowly turn the knob and push the door open. He sat on the floor, leaning on his bed, his head down. “Hey . . . “I mutter softly, cautiously lowering myself next to him, and hugging my knees to my chest. He refused to look at me, his mouth set in a hard line, his eyes stuck on his rug.“Thank you.” I whisper, breaking the silence, and he doesn’t react. I scoot closer and throw a hand over hi
"You don't want anything to eat before I drop you off?" Carter asks."No, I'm okay thanks." I lean my head against the window."Look Loa, I know we don't know each other well or anything, but I want you to know that if you need anything . . . support or . . . I don't know, I'd be happy to help. I know Samuel will always be there, but just in case." He offers me a friendly smile and I return it, my heartwarming at his words."Thank you . . . I - I really appreciate it."Silence falls, and I look back at him. "Hey, do you have any idea what was going on with Jack?"
