Mate

Jasmine let her hands skim over the pendant, her breath hitching in her throat. She could remember the sharp pain she had felt from it the other day too, and it unnerved her. The pendant was...

She shook her head. It was probably just a product of her own imagination, nothing else. She swallowed, then immediately went back to the shower.

The first class was tiring, and amidst Andrew trying to catch her attention, she found herself slowly drifting to sleep. With a small huff, she propped up a book, then lay behind it, closing her eyes.

Zane followed the middle aged woman, Mrs. James to the class he would now head, his eyes thin. He was almost sure the girl from last night could be the girl he had been searching for. But what was he to find her with? Her hair?

He walked in to the class behind her, and it immediately fell silent.

"Listen up, class! Mr. Zane Atlantis here is going to be your new teacher. He is a professor, and I hope you will be able to lean from him."

"Oh, he can teach me all night!" A girl suddenly yelled and Mrs. James rolled her eyes. She looked like she had been expecting the reaction, as the rest of the girls giggled, a few just staring at him like they were watching prey.

Alpha Zane said nothing and the woman spoke up again.

"Detention, Bonnie. Now for the rest of you, I would like you to behave. You do not want to give Zane the impression that all of you are some kind of starved little girls now, will you?"

There was no response and she nodded, convinced she had passed her point across.

"You can take over now. Best of luck."

He gave a small smile as she moved away, then promptly walked out of the class.

"Good morning, class. I will be heading this class from now on. My name is Zane Atlantis. I don't really want an introduction, and I will get to know you as time passes, I am sure."

The class gave a small round of applause, and he took a seat. He had brought transparent glasses to finish his look, and he wore them slowly, his eyes skipping over the students profiles. He hadn't seen a single redhead among them yet. Was he in the wrong class, the wrong school?

He flipped pages fast, and suddenly a picture caught his eyes. He went back a few pages, and there was the profile. Jasmine Carter. His eyes glided to the picture, and he felt his blood pick up heat. Her dark eyes, the red hair...even through a picture it seemed to pierce him. Like arrows.

He gave a small smile and leaned back, just as the bell went up for recess. He watched keenly as the students trooped out fast, each hurrying to just be free from class.

"Jasmine," Andrew said, leaning on her desk. She was fast asleep, and she turned around with a small groan.

"It's time for lunch, Jasmine."

"Go without me, Andrew." She said, her voice a sleepy drawl.

Andrew nodded. "I will get something for you."

She did not reply, and he went down, passing the teacher's seat as he did. Zane looked up to him, his brows furrowing. He definitely smelled like...

He raised his eyes to the door, but Andrew was standing there too, his head turned to face Zane.

Their eyes met, and Zane's eyes thinned to mere slits. Andrew watched him for much longer. No words were passed, and Andrew broke into a small smile, gave a respectful nod, then walked out of the class.

Zane knew who it was. And he knew there was only one thing he could be here for. He lifted his eye to the still sleeping girl. That just meant he couldn't take things slow. He needed to mark and mate her as soon as he could. Once she turned eighteen.

Jasmine gave a small sigh as she slowly opened her eyes. Her neck hurt a little from the weird position, and she stood up, then pushed herself back on the seat. She stretched a little, slowly realizing she was alone in the class.

She had slept off through everything, and she gave a small sigh. That just meant she would have a lot to catch up on.

The small tapping of feet caught her attention and she raised her head. A man she didn't know was sitting on the teachers table, his lips pursed, his foot tapping slowly on the floor.

She swallowed and stood up, then slowly made her way to the door. She would have to pass by him, and she decided to exchange pleasantries, since it might be rude not to.

"Good morning," she muttered under her breath as she got to his desk, fully intending to walk past it immediately. But something kept her there, as he lifted his eye to her, holding her in some sort of spellbound.

She felt her breath hitch as he looked up to her eyes. Dark grey eyes that looked like the clouds of rain at midnight, hair that was beautifully blonde and silky, it got her imaginations running wild. She swallowed as her eyes skimmed down his face. Straight roman nose, and heavily defined, pale pink cupid's bow lips. His jaw line was so straight, she could imagine how it would feel in her hands.

He had left his three top buttons undone, and the tops of a toned body came into teasing view. She could see the tops of a tattoo to the side of his neck, and hell, she wanted to see where it led. Where it would stop.

"Are you done?" He asked, and his voice brought her back to her senses. She shook her head, trying not to drool on the voice too.

"Uhh...sorry, I was.."

"It's okay, Jasmine." He smiled, then purposefully let his eyes skim down her face too, stopping right at her pendant.

She nodded. "I spaced out."

He nodded. He had spaced out on her too. She was...ethereal after all. "That's a beautiful pendant."

She looked down at it. "Thank you. It was my mom's."

He smiled up at her. "Nice to meet you, Jasmine." He extended a hand to her.

She swallowed, then wiped her hand on her dress before taking his. His hand was warm, his grip almost possessive. Like he wanted to stay there. With her.

He gave a small smile, one that unnerved her. "Mate." he muttered under his breath.
