Chapter Nine

KATHERINE

From a distance, I watch as the kids are loaded into the car as they drive off to school. I wasn't able to come out early to help as I had wanted after that very confrontation with their daddy.

Which again makes me question what he had said, she wanted to give up on the children.

This and other questions are on my head as I help out in the kitchen making sure they have lunch and dinner ready when they come back from school.

I don't know when I will be here, and I just want to help from a distance.

I heard a ruffling sound and headed straight to the living room where I heard echoes of voices.

“I said take this stuff, are you deaf??” The voice shouted, followed by a loud shout.

“What is happening here??”

I am presented with a scene of the nanny with her knees on the floor as a lady and a woman who seemed to be the younger version of the lady are stepping over her.

“Ah, I thought I heard you died,” the lady said with a smile on her face.

I look at her confused by what she just said, who is she??

“What in heaven's name is that look” she laughed “so it's true, I heard she must have lost a screw or two” she looked at the woman and laughed.

“Heaven helps us if it's so,” the woman said and the both of them were laughing together.

“Who are you two,” I ask, certainly having no idea of what is happening, “and why is she kneeling??” I looked at the nanny, who seemed scared to death.

“Mmmhh that should be my business and not yours, remember? We said not to be in each other's business??” The young lady said.

“Yeah, I don't know about that, but you can't just walk into my house and decide that my staff is on her knees” I pointed out.

She laughed out loud with the lady doing the same.

“When has that ever been your business??” She motioned with her head and the nanny was standing up, “seems she might have forgotten, remind her who we are??” She said to her.

“This is Mrs. Juanita Anderson your mother-in-law and Miss Evelyn Anderson your sister-in-law” She introduced.

“Did that help, a nut on your head??” The one introduced as Evelyn said.

“I don't know about that, but welcome”

Mrs. Juanita is tall and looks to be in her late 50s, she has brown hair that falls to her shoulder, and just like her son, she has a sharp nose. That seems to be the only resemblance between the two of them.

While Evelyn has her mother's dark eyes and her hair is dark shade, but her face is almost the same as the others, and you will certainly know they are related.

“Welcome then, I wasn't expecting anyone,” I said to the both of them, walking closer into the living room.

“Of course, you weren't, I will give it to you not to have died in that accident,” Evelyn said loudly.

“I told you she isn't one to die easily,” The mother said.

There seems to be so much information that is passing through both of them that I do not know about.

“Umm I'm sure she will get you something to drink” I directed toward the nanny and turned around to leave.

“Oh dear, we are here to see you, and you get the hell out of this place”

There was a scribbling sound as the nanny turned and left the place as fast as she could.

“You want to see me? As you must have heard, I don't remember so much, so I cannot help you with anything it is that you want” I said, looking at the both of them.

“I'm sure you can't, but it's always good to bring that to memory,” The older woman said, and her daughter nodded in agreement.

Since it seemed both of them wouldn't take no for an answer, I walked back to the living room and I sat down as both of them did the same.

“We discussed this earlier before you almost died Katherine, it's time for you to make do with your promise” Juanita said.

“What promises could that be??” I ask, looking at both of them.

“My son, it's time you leave him alone as you would rather not do exactly as you promised,” She said.

I am perplexed looking at both of them as she delivered what she came here to say.

There must have been a lot of discussion between this woman Katherine and the other two. The way they stared at her with nothing but detest shining through their eyes.

“I don't know when I made that promise you see, but I doubt that is for me to decide,” I said to the both of them.

“Oh hell, it isn't. We both call the shot and this marriage became over as soon as you didn't do your part” Evelyn said, leaning over her knees and looking so angry.

I sighed heavily, “I'm sure you must have agreed with this woman, but you should be patient until she can repay that”

One looked at the other as the both of them exchanged looks.

“She must be insane” Evelyn, “who is this woman?? Oh, forget that, and I'm not concerned with the games you are playing, I don't but remember it's already time” Evelyn said.

I heaved a sigh, there is so much that is going on here that I freaking have no idea about. I stood up, since it appears to me that there is absolutely nothing I can say to convince them to bring this matter up later on.

“Oh hell, you don't do that…” Evelyn said in a threatening voice as she saw me standing, “your time is already up since you couldn't do what you promised, and you think surviving the accident means you are safe??” She threatened with her eyes.

My mouth agape, I'm staring at both of them.

“Let's go mother, and you should expect us soon” she gave me a hard stare as the two of them left the house.

There is so much happening here that I have no idea about. Who is this woman Katherine Anderson??
