LOGINNeralda
"Did you really think I'd want a fat, wolfless evil being like you after everything you've done?"
I exhaled nervously as I recalled events from the past night. I couldn't stand, I remained in bed with my body aching and my heart aching even more.
"I'm sorry Sebastian, but I had nothing to do with Zara's disappearance, you need to believe me," I mumbled timidly.
He scoffed and immediately held my hands even more tightly as I winced in pain. "Never! Ever, you pathetic being, mention her name again because you do not deserve to even call her name. Oh Nera...you are going to regret your own existence because this will be your personal hell now."I could see the desire in his eyes, his wolf wanted me, but his disgust for me was much stronger, that much was obvious.
I shivered in panic and strange desire. What was wrong with me? How could I still retain feelings for a man who despised me this badly?
While lost in thought, I felt a sudden wave of pain on my neck as his fangs bit into my neck, and I screamed and thrashed against him, yet it made no difference at all, he was far stronger and more powerful than I was. He was marking me even after the blood oath; how do you hate someone but bind her to you in every sacred way known to your kind? He lapped at the wound and the pain disappeared and for a moment, he caressed my hair and stared at my lips, but then he shook his head, pushed off me and left the room.Throughout the night, I kept checking to see if he'd come back, but he never returned and while I woke in so much pain and ache, while trying to summon the courage to stand as my stomach rumbled, Martha waltzed in, and Thwack...a slap resounded on my cheek.
"So, how do you feel, traitor? Did you really think you'd get a glamorous life and become Cinderella who gets the world after killing my child?"
"I didn't kill Zara. I wasn't at the cliff with her, and I never pushed her."
The head maid walked in then, she eyed me in disgust before she cleared her throat. "Go take your bath and get dressed. Alpha instructed that you have breakfast but resume on the Pack's farmland for work."
I stared at her in confusion as I tried to process what she'd just told me."What? I thought you were going to get treated as a queen, Nera?" Martha laughed in sarcastic scorn. "Boo-hoo Nera! Welcome to your new hell. You were a slave, you would remain a slave, and he'd never accept you."
She scoffed and walked out of the room, leaving me with the head maid, Henrietta, who, from every indicator, is a die-hard supporter of Zara and possibly also views me as a murderer. She cleared her throat again. "You need to go now."
I nodded, then forced myself out of bed and moved to the luxurious bathroom and took my bath, then put my hair in a messy bun. I had no jewelry to use nor any fancy make over as I had always been wearing hand me downs from the welfare of the pack after my father's death.
I tried not to think of my father, who had married Martha, thinking she'd be a mother to me after the death of my mother. He'd given her everything and more to take care of me, but Martha, in her greed, had simply chosen to make my life hell instead.
I couldn't wear the ruined clothes from last night, yet I had nothing proper to wear. I looked around the luxurious bathroom and found a red towel, so I used it to cover my body and walked back into the room where Henrietta was still present with two other young maids now.
She eyed me immediately as I stepped out, then nodded at the other maid, who, to my surprise, handed over another maid's uniform to me, and I stared at her. Henrietta scoffed, "Alpha instructed that in your stay here, you are to remain in the maid's uniform only."I nodded and quickly wiped away the tears that fell from my eyes and changed into the shapeless maid uniform handed over to me.
As we moved to the kitchen, practically all warriors and other pack members greeted Henrietta with reverence, "Good morning, Henrietta." They bowed but eyed me in disdain each time they made eye contact with me.
A table was set up by a side in the kitchen, and Henrietta nodded towards it; "That'd be where you'd be having your food unless the Alpha instructs otherwise."
The other maid interrupted then, "I don't even understand why she's being fed, she's fat enough already." She scoffed.
I ignored her and moved to the table and had breakfast in silence before I noticed that both Henrietta and the maid didn't leave. I frowned as I wondered what else they wanted.
"It's time for you to move to the fields. You'd work in the field every day until Alpha says otherwise."
A warrior walked in then and bowed to the head maid. “The Alpha assigned me to oversee her work for today, ma'am.”
“Alright, Gamma Mani. I'd hand her over to you now; whenever you're done, just send someone for Stephanie here (she pointed at the other means maid) she'd take things up.”
"So… Sebastian really wants me to work on a field even as his Luna?”
“You will never address Alpha by his first name. You will know your place in this pack; you are nothing but a glorified maid with the faux title of a Luna. Never forget that.” Henrietta snarled at me.
Mani and I moved to the farm land where I started weeding and harvesting fruits; pack members came and laughed, and Martha came and smirked at my sweaty self, at some point I felt his presence, but after a while he left.
Six hours later, I felt completely dehydrated and exhausted. I bent and exhaled as Mani stood before me. “Hey traitor, why are you stopping? Alpha said you were to work a full day today.”
“I need water..." I couldn't complete my sentence as everything wobbled before my eyes and everywhere became dark, and just as I expected a nasty fall, I felt multiple sparks all over my body as everywhere blackened out.
SebastianThe seer's instructions had been written on three sheets of pale birch bark, and the first line, which I had read so many times that the ink had begun to blur beneath my thumb, ordered me to reach the northern border stones at the exact hour when the moon stood half hidden behind the mountain.I had left Northridge before dawn with Rowan and four of the quietest warriors I owned, telling the pack that I was inspecting the frontier forts and telling Zara that I would be gone for three days on council business. She had kissed my cheek with such sweet relief that I almost pitied how badly she concealed it, and I drove out through the gates with three stolen ledgers still sewn into the lining of my coat. The road ended at the foot of a mountain where the pines gave way to a forest of white birches, so pale and so tightly packed that the whole slope looked like a ghost standing upright.Mist hung between the trunks in slow grey ribbons, and every sound we made seemed to fall into
NeraldaCaroline gave me the guest suite on the third floor without asking a single question, and she stayed only long enough to leave a pot of tea on the nightstand and a blanket folded across the foot of the bed.I sat in the darkness with Caelan sleeping warm against my side and Lucy curled in the armchair, and I listened to the old house settling around us like a ship in a heavy sea.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw my own face reflected in the glass of the nursery window, hollow and furious, and the empty basin of the fountain beyond it.The tea smelled of chamomile and honey, and I could not bring myself to drink a drop.It was the smell that did it, because chamomile and honey had been the scent of every evening in Martha's house, a steaming cup placed at my elbow each night with the same thin smile. She had called it a tonic for nerves, and she had watched me drink every drop with the patience of a woman watching a pot she knew was about to boil.I sat very still with the cu

ElecAndrew found the observer's nest at dawn, a hollow among the rafters of the abandoned barn where someone had lain for hours with a pair of binoculars and a thermos of tea.The tea was still faintly warm when he held his palm against the metal, and the binoculars had been left carefully on a folded handkerchief, as though the owner wanted us to know that leaving had been a choice. There were no fingerprints, no footprints in the mud, and no scent beyond a faint ghost of jasmine that dissolved the moment I breathed it in."Whoever watched Caelan from this roof was not afraid of being caught, and I think they wanted us to find these," Andrew said grimly, holding up the binoculars."Then they want us frightened, and we will not give them that gift," I answered, though my hand shook as I took the lenses from him.I walked back to the main house through the grey morning with the memory of Caelan's small silhouette burned across my eyes. The fountain water had fallen back into its basin
ZaraMy fork had fallen against the china with a sound like a gunshot, and for three full heartbeats nobody at that table moved.David wiped the corner of his mouth with a linen napkin, folded it neatly beside his plate, and smiled at my mother as though he had commented on the weather. I watched her face drain of colour, and I understood that whatever he had just said, she had not expected to hear it from him."Henrietta is where?" I asked, and I was horrified to hear my voice come out thin and childish."Forgive me, Luna, I assumed that your mother had already told you," David said, turning toward me with perfect courtesy. "The organisation copies me on every message that concerns your safety, and I thought you knew that I was the liaison between the handler and this household.""I have never been told any such thing, and I do not recall inviting you to read my mother's private correspondence," Martha said, and her voice was calm in the way that a frozen lake is calm."Nobody invite
CarolineI had spent most of that morning sitting beside my sister's bed, pressing a cold cloth against Cecil's forehead while she slept off the sedatives Mark had given her.Cecil had screamed herself hoarse the night before, and when she finally collapsed in my arms, I held her like I used to when we were children and thunder shook the nursery windows. We had both lost Diane, but Cecil had always loved her with a ferocity that left no room for anything else. When the alarms began to wail, I felt them in my bones before I heard them with my ears.I sprang from the chair, pressed a kiss against Cecil's damp hair, and checked that the bedroom door was locked before sprinting down the corridor toward the sound.Warriors poured through the halls with weapons drawn, shouting orders that overlapped into a confused roar, and I caught Andrew by the sleeve as he rushed past."What is happening, and why are the border alarms ringing
