"You see, princess," Riven began, his voice smooth but dangerously calm, "this is all your cold father's fault. He did something to me and my family years ago… and today he has to pay for that mistake. And what better way to pay than by hurting the ones he loves most?"

His words slithered through the air like venom.

He reached forward, his hand gripping her chin firmly , not enough to bruise, but enough to make her look him directly in the eyes.

Bella's heart hammered in her chest. She didn't want to look, but his stare dragged her in ,deep, blue, and cold like the ocean on a winter night.

She didn't pay attention to him before, but now he forced her to.

Father? her mind echoed, confusion slicing through her fear. How does my father know this man? What is he talking about? My father would never hurt anyone ,he can't even kill a mosquito.

No, she whispered in her thoughts, this man is lying. He's mad… he's cruel.

Riven stepped back slightly, watching her shake her head in disbelief. He

“I’ve asked you a question, Lilly. And I don’t like being left hanging,” Kane uttered, his hot breath brushing against the nape of her neck. The whisper was almost sinful, sending a shiver down her spine. She tried to hold back the flood of tears threatening to fall. He was too close, too near, yet there was something in the heat of his presence that made her feel an unusual safety. Her chest heaved in a way it never had before not from fear, but from a strange ease, a fleeting comfort. Her heart, for once, did not hammer in panic. Instead, it beat with an unfamiliar rhythm: longing, hope, and something dangerously like trust.Every inhale seemed to tether her to him, each breath a silent confession. Her entire soul felt drawn to his, as if some fractured part of her, long lost to anger and pain, had finally found a harbor. He was her lifeline in the toxic chaos of her world, her fresh air to breathe. Her heart pounded in ways she could neither comprehend nor desire to understand. A

“Who are you?” Lilly uttered, her eyes darting toward Kane.A slow, lazy smile curved on his face as he stood behind the counter, tossing sliced onions in a hot frying pan. They sizzled on contact, releasing a sharp, mouth‑watering scent. With a practiced flick of his wrist, he flipped them effortlessly, adding sauce with the confidence of someone who knew exactly what he was doing. His movements in the kitchen were smooth, controlled, almost dangerous—like a man entirely in his element.“Who do you think I am?” Kane asked without turning, his voice calm, amused.“Well, one minute you’re a cruel, mean hit man,” Lilly said, watching him closely, “and today you’re… you’re a man behind the kitchen looking innocent.” She couldn’t help but chuckle, the sound slipping out before she could stop it.“Let me just say,” Kane replied, dropping raw burger meat into the pan as it hissed loudly, “I am a man of many, many characters.”The aroma was heavenly—beyond breathtaking. Fat crackled against

A beautiful yet simple villa welcomed Kane and sleeping Lilly in the roar of his engine, the sound cutting through the quiet night like a blade through silk. The car slowed as it entered the long driveway, headlights washing over stone paths and shadows that danced across the walls.A beautiful fountain stood in the middle of the luxurious yet simple villa, water cascading softly into a wide marble basin. The structure surrounding it was a blend of modern glass and warm wooden panels, the reflections of light making the entire place feel almost enchanted—like a sanctuary hidden from the world. Two cars were parked outside beside his. One was sleek and modern, polished and untouched. The other told a very different story. An old-fashioned eighties classic vintage car sat slightly aside, half-covered, its hood open and engine exposed like a wounded beast awaiting revival. The metal frame was powerful even in its broken state a 1987 Buick GNX, infamous, rare, and once known as a silent k

Lilly’s eyes darted drunkenly to Kane’s face. The man looked like he was born in 3 B.C.—ancient, dangerous, timeless. His features were sharp, almost cruel, yet miserably hot in a way that made her stomach tighten. Ugly was the wrong word. Too striking. Too intense. A face that shouldn’t exist so perfectly in a broken world. Her gaze clung to his light green, wolf-like eyes, drowning in them. They held something feral, something ancient, something that made her feel seen and undone all at once. His sharp jaw carved his face like a sculptor’s masterpiece,He was beautiful. Magnificent. An artwork far more captivating than the Mona Lisa—because this one breathed, glared, and stood right in front of her.Every feature from his eyes to his nose was perfectly symmetrical, disturbingly flawless. It felt like staring at a sculpted relic of glory, something made to be worshipped, feared, and admired all at once.Drunk and unsteady, Lilly leaned harder into his chest, as if her life depended o

Love filled the room real love, pure love. But for how long?A father sat alone in a dim kitchen while his family slept. A glass of burning alcohol trembled in his hand as he took his fourth bitter shot, eyes fixed on an overdue bill notice. O

  • Bella: Before everything    chapter forty one

Riven stood a few steps away from Bella’s hands. His fingers trembled uncontrollably, the urge to reach out burning through his veins. Just one touch. If he touched her, maybe she would be fine. Maybe his warmth could anchor her back. MaybeShe will be fine. The thought repeated like a prayer he didn’t believe in.His entire body shook. His eyes were bloodshot, red veins threading through the white as he fought the tears threatening to spill. He refused to break. Not here. Not in a room filled with strangers watching him unravel.Doctor M reached for the blood pressure compressor and wrapped it carefully around Bella’s small arm.The machine hummed. The numbers appeared.Too low.Dangerously low.Doctor M’s breath hitched. “Her blood pressure is critically low. Please—pass me the Booth TQ injection,” she said, urgency cutting sharp through her voice.Doctor Taylor handed the injection to one of the nurses, who passed it quickly to Doctor M. With steady hands that betrayed nothing of t
