Brayden stepped out of the restaurant, his hands tucked into the pockets of his black coat as he walked toward the waiting car.

The night was cool, the streets dimly lit, but none of it registered in his mind. His body was still thrumming from the hunt, the execution of the men who had dared to plot against him.

The scent of blood still clung to his skin, seeping into the fabric of his clothes.

Luca stood beside the car, giving him a once-over, his sharp eyes narrowing at the dark stains on his coat. “I take it, everything went as planned?”

Brayden pulled open the door and slid inside, his voice smooth, almost bored. “Better.”

Luca smirked as he climbed into the driver’s seat, starting the engine. “The package was delivered as requested.”

“Good.”

The car moved through the quiet city streets, heading toward the estate.

Brayden leaned his head back against the seat, exhaling slowly. His body was exhausted, but his mind was alert, sharp, restless.

By the time they reached the villa, t

Brayden sat in the back of his car, his fingers tapping absently against his knee as the city lights blurred past the tinted windows. His mind was already several steps ahead, working through his next moves, when his phone buzzed with an emergency alert. His eyes flicked to the screen, and a small smirk curled at the edge of his lips. Someone had tampered with his office lock.Brayden clicked on the notification, bringing up the live security feed. His smirk didn’t last long. The woman standing outside his office, attempting to bypass the security system, was none other than his new personal assistant—Celeste.Brayden’s gaze darkened as he watched her press a series of codes, her fingers moving with careful precision. She wasn’t fumbling. She wasn’t making wild guesses. She knew exactly what she was doing.“Interesting,” he murmured, tilting his head slightly.Celeste failed to crack the security system and quickly stepped back, glancing around before leaving

Brayden walked into his office, his mind preoccupied with the events of the previous night. Darla was still out there, Luca was missing, and now he had to return to work as if nothing was happening behind the scenes. He had spent years building his empire, eliminating threats before they could rise against him, but lately, the snakes had been growing in number, slithering too close. He sat at his desk, exhaling slowly as he pulled out his phone. He had already tried calling Luca three times that morning. Still no response. His new personal assistant, a young woman named Celeste, stepped inside, holding a tablet. “Good morning, sir. I’ve compiled your schedule for the day. Would you like me to read it out for you?”Brayden glanced up, nodding. “Go ahead.”Celeste moved closer, swiping at the screen. “At ten, you have a meeting with the finance team. At eleven-thirty, a contract discussion with potential investors. Lunch has been scheduled at one. And at

Brayden gripped the steering wheel tightly, his jaw clenched so hard it felt like it might snap. His patience was razor-thin, and the rage bubbling in his chest was barely restrained as he sped toward the location Inez had sent him. He was always a step ahead, always the one orchestrating the game, and yet tonight, he had been played.Darla had escaped. And she had done it right under his nose. His fingers twitched with the need to break something, but he forced himself to remain composed. He still had one more card left to play.As he pulled up to the dimly lit warehouse, Inez and his men were already waiting, their faces tense. Brayden stepped out of the car, his cold gaze sweeping over the group before landing on Inez.“Where is she?” His voice was calm, but there was an underlying edge that made even the most fearless men uneasy.Inez hesitated for a fraction of a second. “Boss, there’s a situation.”Brayden’s eyes darkened. “Explain.”One o

Brayden stepped into the dimly lit villa, the soft creak of the door barely audible as he made his way inside. The air was filled with the scent of fresh lavender, something Penelope must have picked up while trying to make herself comfortable. His gaze swept across the cozy yet simple interior, his sharp eyes immediately landing on her.She was curled up on the couch, a book resting on her lap, but she wasn’t reading. She was staring out the window, lost in thought. The dim light cast a soft glow on her face, highlighting the weariness in her features. He took a slow step forward, clearing his throat to announce his presence.Penelope flinched slightly before turning to face him, her hazel eyes narrowing with suspicion. “What are you doing here?”Brayden exhaled slowly, shoving his hands into his pockets. “I came to apologize.”A humorless laugh escaped her lips as she stood. “Apologize?” she repeated, crossing her arms. “After everything you did? Afte

Darla’s breath was shallow, her pulse hammering as she stood in the dimly lit study. The weight of Brayden’s stare pressed down on her, suffocating and unyielding. The man before her wasn’t the Brayden she had seduced, the man she had wrapped around her little finger in the past. No, this man was a different beast entirely—a predator who had caught the scent of a rat.Her mind raced for a way out. Lies, excuses—something to get her out of this mess. She forced a shaky smile, masking the panic rising in her chest. “I already told you, Brayden. I just needed some air. I went out for a walk. I was feeling really suffocated even though the A/c was on, so I went out for a walk to help calm my nerves.”Brayden didn’t blink. Didn’t move. The silence stretched so long that the hairs on her arms stood on edge. Then, without warning, he skillfully brought out a knife from its sheath and he lunged at her— a movement she wasn’t expecting. The flash of silver caught Darla’s

Haylee sat comfortably in the dimly lit study, swirling the wine in her glass as if she were simply there for casual conversation. But there was nothing casual about this meeting. Her eyes flickered toward Brayden, who sat across from her, his sharp gray gaze cold and unreadable.“You’re a man of your word, aren’t you, Giovanni?” she asked, her tone laced with amusement as she took a slow sip of her drink.Brayden didn’t react, merely resting an elbow on the arm of his chair as he watched her with an unsettling calmness.“Get to the point, Haylee.”She smiled, setting her glass down on the polished mahogany desk between them. “I held up my end of the deal,” she said smoothly. “I brought you the proof you needed—the names, the faces, the people who have been working against you, playing their little games behind your back.”Brayden remained silent, waiting.Haylee leaned forward slightly. “Now, it’s time for you to hold up yours.”Brayden tilted
