The newly found Mate

“Yes I’m your mate” Alpha Oswald chided softly, his voice resonating through the hall as it was escorted by a graveyard silence that engulfed the air. His hands found a way to his head as he ran his fingers through his rich midnight black hair in dismay, air surged out of his nostrils in puffs.

“What?” Nikita questioned, her brows quivering in shock as she prodded further, “But why?”

The hall was awash with mumbling which blazed from the lips of the pack members as they all glared back at the platform where the pack leaders were seated.

“SILENCE!” The spokesman’s voice was of a thick and resounding tone that withheld an unknown spasm of authority as the hall grew quiet for an instant but it only made the tension heavier in the atmosphere.

“But why would you just make her your second mate, am I not enough for you...” Nikita rasped, her lips twitching as she spoke.

“ENOUGH” He bawled at Nikita whose eyes widened in shock as he went on, “That’s my decision and it’s final”. He rose from the throne with anger pumped into his system as he spun striding towards the special exit made for the pack leaders, he pouted his lips as he oiled his dried lips.

The atmosphere now looked tenser as a wave of mumbling blanked the air as the pack members watched Alpha Oswald as he strode nearer to the special exit made for the pack leaders. He halted gripping the doorknob as he pulled it closer to him pausing to catch his breath then turned and gazed down at Carly who was still in shock as his gaze darkened.

“See me after the court session.”

He turned to pull the door as he walked into a hallway that was highly lit on a marble floor with the walls papered blue with the doors made from chestnut. He froze in his tracks as the vague sound of footsteps clouded his ears.

“Nikita stop following me” He warned as the footsteps seized.

He walked towards the staircase which went up in a long and vertical sweep, with a red rug spread on it. He walked towards the staircase as he climbed on a step and then ran through them skipping some steps as he climbed up the stair.

Not quite long, he paused still wondering how long the stairs were—or was it only in his eyes? He landed on the floor of the pack house and leaped into the hallway of doors which seemed to all looked extremely familiar with one having not a single difference from the other, but he could easily differentiate the doors from the other even though he had a gag on his face.

He paused in his tracks taking a total spin as he opened the door which led to his private study. His gaze swung over to the study which had rows of shelves with hard-covered books arranged on them, at the center, a huge metal table and a roll of the high neck swivel chair, on the table were packs of journals and letters begging for his attention.

He settled on a nearby high-neck swivel chair with his jaws clenched, his expression was stern as his gaze swung over to the letters which were littered on the table, they were all from one pack or the other with some announcement or the other.

He tried to settle down but an unknown intensity burned in him, his lid locked as he inhaled and exhaled, repeating the soothing exercise for about a moment or two. The vague sound of footsteps arrested the air as it grew nearer behind him, and his senses whirled.

He felt fingertips trailing on his shoulders as he nudged it off sighing in melancholy, “Nikita!”.

“Yes my Alpha” Her voice rang back as he brushed her aside, he heard her voice continuing, “Why did you take such a rash decision before the entire pack?”

“And besides you stooped so low as to do that to a ‘Seducer_"

“She’s my mate!” He interrupted.

“And I'm your Luna ” Nikita retorted as she went on, “Am I not enough for you Alpha, ugh?”

“The only reason I want to marry her is for reproduction only, my pack needs an heir, without it the entire eclipse pack will go haywire!” He rasped angrily, storms of veins clouded his head.

“But I could give you one,” Nikita’s lips ran.

“No you can't, between you and I we both know that the only reason I married you was for the safety of my pack."

Alpha Oswald's father, the previous Alpha was growing old and sick, and just to keep the throne warmed, he became the Alpha since he couldn't find his mate, he had to marry Nikita.

"We both know deep down that we don't have any feelings for each other,” He hurled out, pouring out his anger.

“But...” Nikita tried to speak but it seemed that she’d run out of words as she gazed at him in bewilderment with her mouth agape.

“That’s my decision and it's final!”

“No, you can’t do this to me..” She hurled and watched as he rose and walked out on her and he made his way toward the door.

Hatred boiled in her heart as rage kicked in, she grunted in annoyance as a force drove through her, she reached out for a close by journal and struggled in ripping it apart. Her hair splattered in waves, and she could audibly hear the sound of his footsteps going down the stairs.

She felt hatred for the wolf, Carly, who had ruined her life and taken her man away from her. Deep down, she knew that he’d begun developing interest in her when Carly, out of the blue, came and ruined it all.

“Curse you, Carly!” She cursed and went on, “You’ll always be on my bad side for as long as you remain.”

“Get ready to taste my wreath.”

Alpha Oswald forged deeper into the hallway drowned in his pool of thoughts, he barely noticed what was happening around him. He walked still in a daze as he crashed into a figure and felt nearly knocked out as he staggered maintaining his stand.

His gaze roved down on the figure; black shoes, and a yellow royal suit with an inscription of the eclipse pack on his suit.

“Josh,” His beta’s name flew out of his mouth.

“Are you okay?” Josh inquired and continued, “Well I have some news for you, Carly, your newly found mate is awaiting your presence in your private quarters.”

“Ooh thanks,” When he spoke, Josh detected faint amusement in his tone.

“I’ll be there in a sec.”

SOME MINUTES LATER

The bronze door of the Alpha’s private quarters flew open as he walked in headed directly at Carly who adjusted herself on the chair she sat on.

“How are you mate?” He asked.

“I am not ready to be your mate, with due respect, I am not ready to get married to you,” Carly prodded in a feeble voice.

“It seems your bones are stubborn—and I guess time will tell if you will get married to me.”

She did not like the way he said that. “I am not a vacillating female—I have no intention of changing my mind.”

His teeth flashed in his pirate’s smile. “You’re yet to experience my powers of persuasion.”

Carly shrugged; nose in the air, and she shifted her gaze beyond his shoulders. “You may persuade me away—I won’t be marrying you or anyone.”

The room was quiet, slowly stretching her nerves. She nearly jumped when hard fingertips slid beneath her chin, turning her face back to him.

Even with the tension that engulfed her, she could sense the piercing quality of his gaze, and feel its potency. “Women have been known to change their minds,” He spoke slowly, softly, his tones deep and purring. “How much of a man are you, Carly Hayes?”

She felt her eyes widen. His fingertips slid across the sensitive skin beneath her chin; sharp silvers of the sensation shivered through her. Her lungs seized and it took considerable effort to lift her chin free of his touch. Haughtily, she stated: “I’m too wise to play with fire my Alpha.”

“Indeed?” His lips curved, “I thought you wanted excitement in your life?”

“I really wanted some but not this kind of excitement.”

“Well, getting married to me is more than exciting.” He chuckled and continued, “It’ll be your greatest excitement.”
