Detroit~

The private dining hall smelled of old wood and polished silver, but beneath it lingered the stench of pride, ego, and cruelty.

Mrs. Lorraine West sat poised like an empress at court. Two seats from her sat Detroit, who leaned back in his chair, twirling a glass of crystal wine in his glass cup, looking detached and cold.

The woman sliced a stake and forked it into her mouth. She chewed once, twice, then her face turned colder and she spat it into a napkin with disdain.

The chefs and servants stiffened at the sound, their eyes dropping immediately to the floor. None dared to breathe too loudly. A single curl of Lorraine West’s lip could end a career, and all of them knew it.

“Appalling,” she said coolly, dropping the soiled napkin onto the plate as though it had personally offended her. “This is what happens when standards are neglected. When the right people are not in control.”

She glanced at her assistant and the young woman nodded once and turned to the guards. With a

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Meeting With Roman

Adele~ Seems today is visitor's day. “Adele, please, I just want to talk,” Roman pleaded. The man looked different from the cheerful Roman I once knew. Now, he looked like a shell of himself. When he wheeled Ryan to see Ethan the other day, he at least still looked like someone who had a body and soul. Now, he looked like a ghost dragged out of the laundry basket—wrinkled, pale, and worn thin. “If you’re here to plead on behalf of Julia, over the lawsuit, forget it,” I cut him short before he could sit down. “I don’t care if she cries, faints, or sells Ryan’s kidneys to pay off her debts. She can figure it out.” Roman’s lips parted, but no sound came out for a long moment. His eyes glistened strangely, and then he whispered, “I’m not here for Julia. I… I came for myself.” That stilled me. Roman? The eternal mediator, the peacemaker, the guy who could smile through a hurricane? He had never once shown me weakness, not even when he learned of Ryan and Julia’s fornication.

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Attorney Vernon's Visit

Adele~ The good thing about having guards stationed around me was that I didn't have to see unsightly things like Julia and Ryan anymore. Three days straight, the guards turned them away. One time, one of them flung Julia over his shoulder and sent her into the elevator, then instructed the front hospital security to never allow them near the hospital. I couldn't be more grateful. The days were quiet, I had participated in visual meetings, had some work forwarded to me to handle, so I wouldn't be bored, and went online to see how things were going. But at night, I couldn't take Detroit out of my mind. He hadn’t visited me for three days, but one of the best restaurants in town sent me three square meals daily, on my husband's behalf. I've tried to call him but his line was unreachable. I messaged him countless times but none was read. I wondered what he was up to. And I didn't know who else to call. Setting aside my laptop, I stood and did some stretching. My neck, wrists

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Lecture From Grandmother

Detroit~ The door clicked shut behind him. Detroit stepped into the vast hallway, but as he did, the strength bled from his legs. His vision blurred, the polished floors tilting beneath him. He staggered once, twice before Elias was suddenly there, catching him by the shoulders. “Careful!” Detroit didn’t answer. His jaw tightened as he yanked himself from Elias’ hold and steadied himself. In a flash, his composure returned as he made his way down the hallway with Elias trailing behind him. The two men, both in black, walked in silence through the hushed corridor. Their footsteps echoed faintly against the marble, the only sound in a mansion that seemed to hold its breath. Earlier, the two gunshots had rang too loudly, alerting the guards who poured towards Mrs. Lorraine West’s room, but Elias had turned them around with the excuse that mother and son were practicing shooting. None dared question further. Not when it came to the West heir and his ruthless mother. El

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Sleep Well If You Can

Detroit~ Minutes later, after cleaning her wound, Detroit finally saw the level of damage he had inflicted. The cut ran jagged and deep across her cheek, raw enough that infection would set in if left alone. It needed stitches badly. Yet he refused to send her to the hospital. There were too many inconveniences involved in that. Firstly, it was too public. Reporters camped around the West name like vultures, and the slightest whisper of ‘Mrs. Lorraine West hospitalized’ would stir the markets, rattle the board, and wake his lying enemies, who'd think he was too distracted ‘seeking justice’ for his mother. Secondly, he didn’t trust a single doctor not to run their mouth. And lastly… he didn’t want anyone else’s hands on her wound. So, he threaded the needle himself. Mrs. Lorraine stiffened when she saw the glint of steel between his fingers. “Leighton, don’t you—” “Hold still.” His tone was even, steady as his grip on her jaw. “I won’t repeat myself.” The needle pierced her sk

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Torture and Tenderness

Trigger Warning: This chapter is messy. Proceed with caution Detroit~She trembled, her breath coming out in shallow pants, but she didn’t dare move with the knife still pressed to her neck. Her son was a psychopath when angry. She knew this much, but never in a million years did she suspect he'd ever turn his blade to her…his mother. Satisfied with the cooperative reaction, he lowered the knife and wiped it across her white nightgown, staining the expensive silk with her own blood. His smirk returned, slow and lethal. “Mother, you're bleeding. Where is your first aid kit?”Mrs. Lorraine blinked at him in disbelief, unable to tell if he was mocking her or genuinely serious. Her hand instinctively pressed harder against her cheek, warm blood seeping through her fingers. “Leigh… stop this madness. I will not—”“First aid kit,” Detroit repeated, sharper this time. He straightened, looming over her like judgment itself, his knife idly twirling between his fingers. “Go fetch it.”Her bre

Trigger Warning: These chapter is messy. Read with care. ***Detroit~The West main mansion was vast with tens of bedrooms, mini living rooms for each wing, and a massive major living room, mostly occupied by maids cleaning or Silver painting, but at this hour of the night, not a single buzz could be heard, let alone a soul wandering.Yet, at a time like this, when evil spirits were roaming the kitchen searching for leftovers, Detroit West was seated in a dark room, merging with the darkness.Click! The lighter flicked open. Flame sparked to life, dancing against the shadows, illuminating the sharp edges of his face. The flames died when he released his thumb.Click! It came back alive once more, brightening his profile. The sound of the clicking lighter in a deadly quiet and dark room was enough to squeeze fear out of even the bravest soul, let alone someone who just stirred awake from her sleep. The bedside light snapped on, her hand simultaneously reaching under her pillow. In a
