Megan

To say that I slept well would be a gigantic lie. Every time I managed to drift off, I would wake up startled, remembering the fear I had felt. In each of those opportunities, I would look at Jack's face, and as simple as that, I would calm down. I noticed on more than one occasion that his expression would harden; I know he is hiding many things from me, and that worries me. If he would just open up to me, I could help him. What could be so difficult to say? Although, thinking about it, if he were to tell me that he is a married man, not only would I never see him again, but for the first time in my life, I would kick someone in the balls—or well, I would try to. I mean, the man kissed me, and I kissed him back, and I loved it. I do not regret that, and if he were married, it would bother me a lot, but regret it? God, no.

Leaving those thoughts behind, I head to the living room. I do not see him there, so I go to the kitchen, and that is where I find him. Jeans, a white t-shirt, and barefoot; without a doubt, standing here staring at him would be worthy of a stalker. As if he noticed my presence, he turns, giving me one of his magnificent smiles.

"Good morning, angel. I hope you are hungry because I am making some pancakes that I know you will love."

"You know how to cook?" He keeps scoring points; he does not know how perfect he is.

"You see, my mom always said that we should learn, especially if we wanted to leave home."

"Well, that sounds like a responsible and wise woman." I would not let my children leave without knowing how to support themselves either.

"She is. Maybe you will meet her in a while." Wait, what?

"Um... maybe. Who knows, right?" I murmur carefully. Just as he is about to respond, the door rings. Saved.

"Would you open the door, angel?"

"Sure." I get up from the chair and head to the door. When I open it, I am met with a big smile from the guy from last night—Nathan? I do not remember him well. He is accompanied by Ryan and a rather intimidating blonde man. "Good morning, come on in." I step aside to let them in. "He is in the kitchen," I murmur, receiving nods in response.

When I return, I see Jack serving three more plates.

"Good morning, guys. I am surprised to see you so early. What is going on?"

"Nothing, we just came to see how things were going." Sure, I noticed the look Ryan gave me. I cannot know what they have to say.

"I am going to the room. Talk freely," I say, annoyed.

"No, Megan, stay. It is nothing you cannot know, believe me." I look at Ryan and decide to sit back down, receiving the plate that Jack hands me. Ryan turns to look at me and asks, "How did you sleep?"

"Not very well, to be honest." I decide to be sincere.

"And why is that, little one? Is Jack such bad company?" I look at the blonde man who, for the first time, is smiling.

"Um... no, he is not. You are not," I say, looking at Jack. "It is just that with what happened yesterday, the intrusion and everything, it is normal to be a bit scared."

"You are safe here, angel. You know I will protect you," he says, stroking my cheek. "And you, Robert, stop being an idiot." So the blonde guy is Robert.

Breakfast passes quietly, and the guys report that the police who went to Susan's house did not find anything, but there will be a patrol car constantly outside the house. That did not reassure me one bit, but I put on my "tough girl" mask and smiled, saying everything would be fine. When the guys finally left, I turned toward Jack, who was already looking at me as if waiting for something.

"You still have to tell me what you refused to say yesterday." I watch as his expression changes.

"Alright, honey, but I must ask you to keep an open mind." Is it that serious? "Do you believe in the supernatural?"

"Um... yes. But what does that have to do with what you are hiding from me?" Could it be that he found out? No, that cannot be.

"Well, that is what I want to talk to you about, angel. You see, I do not know how to say this, but since you believe in the supernatural, you will know that there are legends about werewolves." I nod, thinking about how on earth he found out; I cannot believe he is telling me this. "Do not be scared, angel, I promise you are safe. The thing is, I am one. I am the alpha of my pack." Wait, what? That, I did not expect. Is he also one of them? But it seems he is not done. "And you are my moon, meaning my mate, or life partner, whatever you want to call it." I look at him and do the only thing I can think of at this moment: I run and lock myself in the bathroom. "Angel? I know you are surprised and scared, but I would never hurt you, I promise."

"It is just that you just told me you are a dog!" I yell, completely out of my mind. "Oh my God, am I being held hostage here? Not him too."

"Angel, first of all, I am not a dog, I am a wolf. And to answer your question, you are not being held hostage. Can you come out so we can talk better?" I hear him sounding sad. I do not want him to be sad; I like him, but he also did it in his time, and everything ended badly. I cannot keep hiding in here. If he wanted to hurt me, he had plenty of time, and at some point, I will have to leave; I cannot stay here forever. I take a deep breath and open the door, seeing him there against the wall waiting for me. I take another deep breath and prepare myself for what is coming.

APRIL"April, what is wrong?" It was the third time Summer had asked me without getting an answer. "Come on, trust me, I do not like seeing you like this.""We need to get Mr. Patterson's bulldog ready, he will be by to pick him up in 20 minutes. Can you check that everything is in perfect condition?""Sure, April, I will do it right away." She sighs, annoyed, but I will not say anything to her."Thanks..." I could not help but replay the conversation with my father over and over in my head.Around noon, I see Ryan walk through the door. We had agreed to have lunch together, but with everything going on, I had forgotten."Bunny." Just that makes me relax. Taking me by the waist, he leaned in to place a kiss on my lips. "I hope you are ready to get out of here." I simply wrapped my arms around his shoulders and hugged him.I needed a hug so much today."So my mother was not wrong, and you really are a slut?" That voice, one I had loved so much over the years, and now it only makes me f

MeganI do not think I have ever seen anyone as upset as Jack is right now.On the way to his house, he did not say a single word. I guess his head was full of things, while I did not say anything because I was too scared to open my mouth. When we walked into his house, things did not change much. His body was giving off a sort of "do not come near me" signal, and God knows I was not going to."What were you thinking? I only asked you to stay inside." Even though he did not yell, his tone made me feel so small."I wanted to be responsible...""Do not lie to me, angel, and do not lie to yourself. What you wanted was to prove that you are not weak. You thought, I will go to school and show everyone they are exaggerating. Well, breaking news, you were wrong, and you exposed everyone in a ridiculous way.""I know I made a mistake, but I really did not think he would dare. The school was full.""The building I pulled you out of was too, and that did not stop him from setting it on fire. Yo

JackWe were called for an apparent emergency, but when we arrived, there was nothing. I cannot believe people joke about this; while we are coming here, we might be needed somewhere else. My annoyance only grows. I still haven't spoken to my angel; I am getting the damn cold shoulder just for wanting to protect her. I look for my phone thinking about calling her to see how everything is going, but I cannot find it. I hope I did not lose it."Jack, we have a problem." I looked at Nathan, who was holding his phone."What happened now? A fake cat stuck in an imaginary tree?" I sighed in anger."No, actually, it is a moon trapped in a school, with a fire and a wolf," he shakes his head as I erupt."She dared to escape! I asked her to stay in the house. Is she foolish?" I growled so loudly that my teammates took a step back."Calm down, Jack, Ryan is taking care of it." Nathan's amused tone had vanished."Let's go to the school," I say, already heading to the truck. "What are you waiting

Megan"Children, continue with your work, I will be right back." I walk out of the classroom with a calmness that I clearly lack. I approach the door to Susan's classroom and knock until she comes out."What is wrong? You are pale and you look scared." Her look is worried. Do I really look that bad?"He is here. My God, Susan, I should have listened to Jack. Do not tell him I said that, but I cannot believe he actually dared to come. What are we going to do now?""I will go find Jeremy, you call Jack." What? No..."Um... no. We can solve this. I am not suicidal enough to tell him I sneaked out. Susan, I am sure he hasn't even noticed yet.""Do not start right now," she looks at me, annoyed. "Call him, this is serious, Meg." And with that she leaves, surely to look for Jeremy.I look through the door's window at the calm children, oblivious to the lunatic nearby. I cannot be so selfish and not protect them. Sighing, I take out my phone and prepare for a battle I have already lost. I he

MeganTelling Susan that I would stay with Jack was not as easy as I thought, especially with her making a scene. The good thing was Jeremy's presence and the fact that Jack promised he would not let anything happen to me. But that was a walk in the park compared to the conversation I am having right now with Jack."You cannot tell me not to go to work, that is crazy. Do you understand that it is my responsibility?""Now is not the time, angel, you do not understand things. Here at home you will be safe, there is no need for you to expose yourself like that." My eyes narrow and my patience reaches its limit."If this is how it is going to be, I am leaving. Not just to work, I am leaving this place. You do not own me, Jack. I have been working non-stop for two years, I cannot just leave everything hanging, do you understand? Besides, Susan and Jeremy will be there, they will not leave me alone, nothing will happen to me.""You are not going, angel, and that is my final word." Damn poss

MeganI see him before me, and he looks devastated. Perhaps I am being selfish; it cannot be easy to tell someone you are a wolf. I am a damn selfish witch!"What you said does not bother me. I was surprised that you were a wolf, but I am scared of what you might do to me." His expression is uncertain, and I know that is my fault."I would never do anything to you, angel. To hurt you would be to hurt myself. Since I discovered you were my mate, I have done nothing but protect you. After what happened yesterday, I have no intention of letting you out of my sight, even if you do not want me around." He lowers himself, sitting against the wall just like me. "I will not be like your ex-boyfriend. I intend to protect you from him.""When you asked me if I believed in the supernatural, well, I thought you had already figured it out. I mean, I never imagined you would tell me you were one yourself. I knew you were hiding something from me, but I thought of many different things." I was so wr
