Chapter 4

Author: Snail
“Mary isn’t the only one who doesn’t want this child. I don’t want it either,” I said coldly as I watched Sam’s mom storm out of the room.

Sam’s eyes flickered with pain and confusion. He spoke softly, trying to explain. “Amy, please don’t overreact. I’ve told you before. Lily is like my sister. I promised her brother I’d take care of her, and you’re my love, the woman I’m going to marry.”

“Oh, so your mom just said that you’re marrying Lily. Congratulations!”

“You know that’s not true. Lily’s pregnant, and she’s too physically weak to get an abortion. She’s still in school, and if people find out she’s pregnant before marriage, her reputation will be ruined. The only thing I can do is marry her, have the baby, and then we’ll be done. Please don’t be upset.”

“Her reputation? What about my reputation? You know, everyone online’s calling me shameless for 'stealing' someone else’s husband. Doesn’t that matter to you? Sam, I will abort this baby. This is the end of us.” My gaze was fixed on him as I spoke.

Seeing how determined I was, Sam’s face turned grim. “Amy, you’re just acting on your emotions right now. Look, we’ll deal with the baby later. For now, you can get some rest at home.”

After that, Sam dragged me back home with him, and from that day on, I was confined. He even took my phone and made sure I was watched at all times. I couldn’t understand why he couldn’t let me go when he didn’t love me anymore.

I'm going to find an opportunity to leave here.

Days later, Lily’s mother, Lisa Aldrige, barged in.

As soon as she entered, she pointed a furious finger at me. “What did you do to bewitch Sam? He’s about to marry my daughter, and here you are, hiding away in his house! Get out of here right now. Don’t you dare take my daughter’s place!”

As she yelled at me, she ordered the servants to start clearing out my things from the master bedroom.

“My daughter and Sam got married today, and she’s the new owner of this house now. Get all of her stuff out!”

I was about to reach out to stop her when her words hit me like a punch to the gut.

“So, Sam and Lily really got married today? They’re legally a couple, and I’m the mistress?”

Just like that, the full weight of it all hit me. Although I was prepared to leave Sam, hearing it tore me apart inside.

Lisa wasn’t done. “Of course! My Lily’s carrying Sam’s child, unlike you, who’s pregnant with some illegitimate child yet still clinging to your ex. You should be thrown out for good!”

Her anger was rising, and before I could react, she shoved me.

I stumbled, too dazed to defend myself, and crashed to the ground. Pain shot through me, starting from my heart and spreading to my abdomen. Suddenly, my face drained of color.

“Stop! What are you doing?” Sam rushed in, drenched in sweat.

Without a word, he shoved Lisa aside and pulled me into his arms. The servants froze and glanced nervously at Sam, unsure of what to do.

Lisa pointed at him, furious. “Sam, you’ve married my daughter. How could you still involve yourself with this woman? How could you do this to Lily?”

“Shut up!” Sam barked, his face dark. “This is not the time or place for your tantrums. Get out!”

He gestured for the bodyguards to escort her out.

I didn’t care about the pain anymore. I looked straight into Sam’s eyes and asked, “So, you did marry Lily today? What she said was true?”

Sam froze, his face stiffening. He turned away, unable to meet my gaze, his eyes shifting nervously.

“Amy, please don’t worry about the rest. I’ll explain everything. But are you feeling okay? Let me take you to the hospital…”

“Get out of here!” I suddenly screamed, struggling like a madwoman to break free from his hold. “You bastard! I hate you! Get out and never come near me again!”

Just then, a warm gush spread between my legs. Sam looked down, and his face turned pale in an instant.

“Blood! There’s so much blood! Someone, get help. get her to the hospital, now!”

  • Betrayed by Love   Chapter 11

Over the next year, I started managing one of Dad’s branch companies on my own.Through it all, Tom stayed by my side. He was always there, laughing, goofing around, and supporting me whenever I needed it. It wasn’t until my birthday party, where he confessed, that I realized he had feelings for me.“So when exactly did you start liking me?” I playfully tugged on his ear and asked once we officially got together. He looked at me with those wide Bambi eyes.“Back when we played house as kids, you were my pretend bride. I waited so many years for you, but you heartless thing, you totally forgot about me!”I scratched my nose, a little embarrassed. Who even remembered something like that as a child?Six months later, we got married.A year after that, we welcomed our baby girl into the world and became a happy family of three. The next time I saw Sam was at an industry expo. I was there representing my company, and we locked eyes across the crowd. However, he wasn’t the same m

  • Betrayed by Love   Chapter 10

When I finally arrived at my dad’s place, I realized his company had grown over the years to become the largest enterprise in the area.Tom put his work on hold and spent an entire week showing me around. He even mapped out the perfect travel itinerary, so I didn’t have to worry about a single thing except having fun.I forgot the pain from the past few years and all the heartbreak Sam had caused me.With people who truly loved me around, I felt like a happy princess again! However, that lifestyle didn’t last long. A few days later, Dad sat me down and said, “Starting tomorrow, you’re going to learn how to manage the company.”“Why?” I stared at him in disbelief.“Isn’t that what you and Tom are for?”“You’re my only daughter. You can’t keep avoiding responsibility. One day, all of this will be yours. You need to stand tall. Power only means something when you’re the one holding it.”I knew Dad was doing it for my own good. So, even though I wasn’t thrilled, I agreed, starting

“No way! Lily told me herself that the baby is yours!” Lisa screamed in disbelief. However, Sam didn’t even flinch. He walked into the living room and tossed a thick envelope right at their feet.“Open your eyes and see for yourselves who the real slut is! These are the photos the press got a hold of. I paid a fortune to keep them out of the tabloids.“To protect Lily’s reputation, I let Amy take the fall and allowed people to tear her apart online. I deserve to die!”Sam collapsed onto the couch, his whole body slumped like a man who had lost all his strength. His eyes stared blankly ahead, hollow.Mary and Lily trembled as they opened the envelope. It only took one glance for Lisa to nearly pass out.Mary, on the other hand, erupted.“You filthy bitch!” she screamed, lunging at Lisa. “Get you and your whore of a daughter out of my house! You murdered my grandchild! I’ll kill you!”Lisa panicked, scrambling to pick up the scattered photos before stumbling out of the villa in

As soon as Sam got back, he rushed straight to the villa. Before he even set foot inside, he shouted, “Amy, I’m home!”However, all of Amy’s things were gone.Inside, Mary was on the sofa, chatting happily with Lisa.“Oh, Sam! Finally, you’re back! Don’t worry about that wretched woman. I already took care of it. Now you can focus on planning your wedding with Lily!“Lily’s already three months along. You two need to get married before her belly starts showing. A baby bump in a wedding dress isn’t a good idea.”“We’ll book the biggest hotel in town,” Lisa chimed in with a proud smile. “We have a lot of family on both sides, and I want my daughter’s wedding to be the event of the year.”“What are you talking about?”Sam stood frozen, as if he’d been struck by lightning.“Your marriage to Lily, of course! You got her pregnant. Don’t tell me you’re still trying to avoid responsibility?” Mary reacted, unhappy with her son’s reaction. “Where is Amy?!” he roared. “I told you my wif

  • Betrayed by Love   Chapter 7

“I’m Tom. Don’t you remember me, Amy? We used to play together when we were kids!”Then, a timid, skinny little boy from my childhood came to my mind. Who would’ve guessed that he would grow up to be this tall, handsome guy in front of me?Now, he was my dad’s right-hand man, too.“Tom, I remember your family being as successful as the Johnson Group. Why didn’t you stay and take over the family business? Why are you working for my dad, of all people?”I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Sure, his older brother was the heir, but it didn’t make sense for him to end up at my dad’s modest company.“I’ve learned a lot working with your dad. And don’t underestimate him. His company made it into Forbes’ Top 100 this year!”He looked at me, his voice dropping to something softer. “You have a family now—one you can rely on.”Tears spilled down my cheeks before I even realized it. All the grievances I’d been holding in finally broke free. While I was sobbing, Tom worked quickly. That ve

  • Betrayed by Love   Chapter 6

Two days later, Sam took Lily abroad for prenatal care, and I was discharged from the hospital and brought back to the villa.I sat on the living room couch, quietly waiting for Mary to show up. Based on what I knew about her, there was no way she’d allow me to keep this baby.Sure enough, Mary arrived that afternoon with her bodyguards.“Take this woman to the hospital now!”“No need. I can walk on my own,” I said. Standing up, I walked straight up to her.“Congratulations. You’ve just killed your grandchild.”Mary looked at me with disdain, and disgust was practically oozing from her eyes.“My grandchild is the one Lily’s carrying. Whoever’s baby is inside of you doesn’t deserve to be born!”“Oh, really?” I stared at her and smiled faintly. “Well, I hope you won’t regret this someday.”So I went to the hospital for the abortion under her watchful eye.As I lay down on the operating table, I could no longer hold back the tears.I’m sorry, baby. Mommy couldn’t protect you.
