Chapter 2

Author: Little Hedgehog
I drank coffee, enjoyed the air conditioning, and leisurely watched the dorm surveillance footage in my 2,000-square-foot apartment.

I had always wanted to live in the dorms with my fellow students, sharing hardships and building bonds. Now that I thought about it, I was such an idiot.

Soon, the five beasts appeared together on the surveillance footage.

When they did not see the cold drinks I had promised, they all switched into complaint mode.

"Dylan is such a two-faced hypocrite. He said he'd buy us cold drinks, then he just disappeared!"

"Exactly. He can't even run errands right!" Paul cursed me while calling my phone.

When I answered, he instantly changed his expression and asked me gently where I had gone and why I was not in class. He told me how everyone was so worried about me.

If this had been before, I would have been deeply moved and then spent money on them like crazy.

Now, I simply smiled faintly and said I had something to take care of and would not be staying in the dorm for a while.

Then I hung up, leaving the five of them dumbfounded.

Paul tried calling me again and discovered he had been blocked. The other four experienced the same thing when they tried calling.

Now, they finally exploded. They had not expected that docile, little me would actually fight back one day.

All of them launched into vicious insults and curses, sounding as if they wanted to kill me.

Afterward, they pooled their money together to buy a few bottles of ice-cold water to cool off.

I watched them like I was watching a comedy show. My heart had already completely calmed down.

After resting comfortably in my apartment for a day, I had no choice but to attend a mandatory class the next day.

As expected, the moment I walked through the door, Ryan found me. "Dylan, why'd you move out of the dorm? Did we do something wrong?"

He looked so aggrieved that anyone who did not know better would think I had done something terrible to him.

I smiled. "Yeah, you did."

While they stood there stunned, I quickly took the only empty seat in the front row, putting some distance between us.

A few of them wanted to come over and interrogate me, but when they saw Professor Calcraft enter, they reluctantly went back to their seats.

He was here to announce the scholarship recipients, from the college scholarships to the national scholarships, in order of who would be recieving the highest amount.

Paul was full of confidence. The spot I had given up before had gone to him.

As Professor Calcraft made the announcements, everyone was shocked to learn that the scholarship spot was mine.

Paul even stood up. "How's that possible? Dylan didn't apply. Why give it to him? This is rigged!"

Professor Calcraft's face turned cold. "Who said Dylan didn't apply? His application was submitted a long time ago. He's far ahead in terms of comprehensive scoring. Of course he meets the scholarship criteria.

"If you're going to accuse us of rigging, then show me some proof!"

Paul had always been a troublemaker, and Professor Calcraft had long disliked him.

The matter was settled. Paul did not dare say anything more, but he spent the entire class glaring at me viciously.

After class, he blocked my path and questioned me loudly in front of the whole class. "Dylan, I didn't know you were this cunning! I really misjudged you!"

I sneered. "What do you mean? I won a scholarship with my own ability, yet I needed your permission first?"

Paul was struck speechless. Ryan walked over to mediate. "Dylan, your family's so well-off. This money means nothing to you. What would it hurt to let Paul have it? How can you be so heartless?"

I laughed in anger. Paul had called me cunning, yet Ryan said nothing. I had only taken what was rightfully mine, yet suddenly, I was heartless?

How had I never noticed how shameless they all were before?

"What's mine is mine, no matter how much or how little it is. If you're not happy about it, compete with me for it.

"You can't beat me, so you insult me instead? Being weak doesn't make you right."

Faced with my forceful questioning, the other students also took my side and criticized my roommates one after another.

I took advantage of the chaos to push past them and left the room. They should stay the hell away from me!

At home, I took a nice bath and slept until the evening, when I was woken up by a call from a buddy.

"Dylan, you're famous!"

It was Paul.Five years had passed. The young man who had once been my age now looked like a haggard old laborer.I watched him for a while. Day after day, the five mothers knelt before me, and their persistence finally moved some viewers. It also made them believe they were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.Eventually, a reporter from the local TV station brought them on for a live on-site interview with me, asking if I had anything to say to these five mothers.Public opinion had been shifting. Some people thought that sentencing kids who had just turned eighteen was too harsh a punishment. They were still young and should have a chance to start over.Everyone also seemed to think that since I was so wealthy and had not actually been harmed, I should forgive them.People loved a happy ending where everyone made peace.Looking at all those expectant eyes, I sighed and opened my online shopping records."The first week of school, Paul wanted to upgrade his phone. I bought him the latest foldable phone."A few roommates said their pajamas weren't as comfortable as mine, so I got each of them a $800 silk paja

The parents of the five showed up dressed in ragged clothes, wailing and crying at the campus entrance. They refused to let any students leave, demanding that the school return their sons to them. The moment I walked out of the school gates, Paul's parents blocked my path. They recognized me immediately."You vicious b*stard! You're the one who ruined my son!”"There's no way my son would do something like that. He’s just a college student. You framed him!”"Drop the charges right now!"When the other parents saw me, they all swarmed over relentlessly. I calmly had the school security hold them back and drove my Porsche away through another gate.Although they made a huge fuss, public opinion had already reached a verdict on this matter.Even when they cried and livestreamed at the school entrance, the comments were all mocking."So, you think the law works on a sympathy basis or something?""Your own sons broke the law. What's the point of crying on campus? Like father, like

The test results for the cake came back quickly. It had indeed been drugged. The wealthy woman had ordered the drug concoction online and given it to Paul.Combined with the full livestream recording, the case was ironclad. Our little dorm room made the trending topics again, but this time, I was not the main character.Everyone was furious. No one had expected that roommates living together could do something so heinous to one of their own. However, some people were curious about why the five hated me so much. Had I actually done something wrong?I was prepared for these questions. After giving my statement at the police station, I also opened a social media account.I posted all the chat records from their five-person group online.I told viewers candidly, "My mom is fifty years old this year. She looks young because she takes good care of herself."My dad built his business from the ground up. Every penny he’s earned is clean."I don't think I've ever wronged any of them.

The five roommates had all their attention on me and did not notice their notifications were going absolutely crazy.Soon, the wealthy woman pushed the door open and walked in. She was a sleazy, middle-aged cougar.Seeing me lying on the couch, her eyes lit up. "You guys really know how to get things done."Paul was confident. "Cash upfront, then you can get what you paid for."She pulled out a thick stack of cash. The five of them practically salivated as they grabbed the cash and started counting. My buddy's livestream exploded.[Holy crap! I feel like something's wrong here. Why is this gross woman giving them money?][Did they just sell Dylan to this disgusting woman? That's illegal!][Dylan doesn't look right. He seems drugged. Someone call the police!]My roommates were completely oblivious. After confirming the cash was all there, Paul snapped his fingers and left. Before leaving, he reminded the wealthy woman to go easy and not wake me up, or things might get messy. S

Two weeks later, my roommates' joint account surpassed one million followers. My name had become infamous. People at school treated me like the plague when they saw me, avoiding me one after another.During these two weeks, I deliberately acted aggrieved, walking alone with my head down and occasionally sneaking glances at my roommates. They believed I had given in. Since the deadline the wealthy woman had given them was approaching and I still had not come to them to make amends, they finally started another livestream and came to find me.They asked if I was willing to return to the dorm. This time, I gave the camera an expectant smile. "Okay. I'm sorry, everyone. These past few days, I've carefully reflected on myself and realized I was really in the wrong before."This Sunday is my birthday. To apologize, I'd like to invite you all to my place for dinner. Would that be okay?"The five of them were stunned. They had not expected it to be this easy. The wealthy woman had just
