Chapter 10 - Getting ready for the meeting…

I end up falling asleep while Thomas snacks on the popcorn he brought up for us to eat while we watched a movie on the giant TV hung on the wall opposite my new bed. We were up half the night just chatting and I think it is safe to say we are now friends and not just protector and protected. Thomas makes me feel normal, like I can once again be the girl I was before. He makes me forget all the bad stuff, the trauma, the torment, Ace and Maddie’s cruelties, and even Ace being my mate, even though he doesn’t know that yet, I will tell him, I just don’t know when I will be ready to admit that my mate is my tormentor. I feel like a person when I am with him and I already love him like a brother.

Cassie -After reading the first couple of sentences, I have to stop, go back and reread it carefully. I am incredibly surprised by what I am seeing written on the page. I carefully close the book, Using my finger as a bookmark so as not to lose the page Alpha wants me to read from, so that I can look at the front cover and I see it is a relatively standard, plain black-leather covered book with no image or writing on the front, but when I decide to check the spine, which is also blank, I see it is well worn, which means it has been opened and closed many times in the past. Cassie -It has been a whole week since I read the diary entry written almost 60 years ago by Luna Jennifer. A solid week of being holed up in this room, that Luna Lily very kindly insisted I call my own, That means it has been 2 weeks since my birthday, 2 weeks where all I have done is sleep, eat, heal, and meet with the Luna and the Alpha or spend time with Thomas. Cassie -Thomas and I are so excited at the prospect of relocating that we pretend that between now and then, there will not be a severe event. We pretend the worst isn't coming and we make plans, we talk about the people we will be when we move, the friends we will make, the life we will lead. I talk about our ideal mate and how much we hope to find them. Basically, we act like excited siblings, off on an adventure.We talk for so long that Thomas actually falls asleep, and instead of waking him, I leave him to his rest. Cassie -After telling Luna and Dr Thorne about the cramps, which I now know Ace caused me, the pains stopped. I still haven't ventured from my room, nervous of seeing Ace or Maddie, who I imagine helped Ace with his 'needs', resulting in my pain. I don't know what happened. All I know is that the pain has stopped, not faded, but completely stopped. And I am not complaining. Thomas keeps encouraging me to leave the room, assuring me we will not see Ace. He seems to know something but is holding it back from me."Come on Cassie, he won't get near you, I swear it, I won't leave your side for a second, you will be completely safe begged I promise," he all but begged.
