The sound of hurried footsteps echoed along the sidewalk in front of a towering office building. That afternoon, the sky was heavy with clouds, threatening rain at any moment. A sleek black car stopped in front of the main entrance, its window lowering slowly.

“Deviana!” The deep voice called, filled with longing.

Deviana turned, her body stiffening instantly. Adrian—the man she once loved deeply, the same man who had shattered her heart into pieces.

“What are you doing here again?” Her tone was cold, every word piercing like a blade.

Adrian stepped out of the car, his strides quick. “I just wanted to pick you up. It’s late, you must be tired. At least let me take you home.”

Deviana scoffed, brushing past him. “I don’t need you. Don’t make me look like a woman who can’t get home on her own.”

But Adrian didn’t give up. He adjusted his pace to walk beside her. “Deviana, I only want to look after you. I know I made countless mistakes in the past, but let me—”

“Adrian, stop calling me!”Deviana’s voice trembled, yet it carried firm resolve as she answered the incoming call. Without giving Adrian a chance to respond, she pressed end call. Her breathing grew unsteady, her chest aching every time she heard that name. The phone rang again. Adrian’s name flashed on the screen. Deviana gripped the device tightly, then slammed it onto her desk with a harsh movement.“Enough!” she whispered to herself, eyes reddening. From the small sofa in the corner of the studio, Lila looked at her with concern. “It’s him again?” she asked softly.Deviana gave a short nod. “He never stops, Lila. I’ve made it clear—I don’t want to see him.”Lila stood, walked over, and placed a hand on Deviana’s shoulder. “You have to stay firm. Adrian only brings pain, Dev. You’ve suffered enough because of him. Don’t let him back in.”Deviana buried her face in her hands. “But why does my heart still tremble every time he appears? Why do I still feel… hope?”“Because you once l

“I won’t let Leviana take you back, Adrian!” Vanessa’s voice rang sharply through the corridor of the luxury hotel, the click of her stilettos echoing as she rushed toward him.Adrian drew in a long breath, straightening his posture. “Vanessa, please—don’t cause a scene here.”Before Vanessa could grab his hand, another voice cut in, smooth and teasing.“A scene? Oh, Adrian…” Leviana approached with a dazzling smile, her black gown swaying elegantly. “I only wanted to greet the man who once let me go too soon. Is that such a crime?”Vanessa turned sharply, her face stiffening. “Leviana! Do you think this is some kind of game? Adrian isn’t yours anymore!”Leviana chuckled softly, her gaze locked unwaveringly on Adrian. “Not mine? Or was he never truly yours to begin with?”Tension rippled through the hall. Several guests at the business gala paused their conversations to watch, whispers beginning to spread.---Deviana stood at a distance, her body frozen. She hadn’t wanted to be here,

“Leviana… wait!”Adrian quickened his steps, catching the woman’s arm just as she left the grand hotel ballroom where the business event had taken place.Leviana turned, a faint smile tugging at her lips as if she had been expecting this moment. Her elegant black gown shimmered beneath the hallway lights, radiating an aura both graceful and piercing.“At last, you’re alone, Adrian. I thought you were going to pretend you didn’t know me back there in front of everyone.”Adrian drew in a deep breath, tension etched across his face. “Why are you back? Why show up so suddenly like this?”Leviana folded her arms across her chest, her steps slow yet deliberate as she closed the distance between them. “I’m tired of hiding. For years I tried to forget you, but the truth is… I never could.”Adrian fell silent, his gaze a storm of anger, confusion, and unease. “Leviana, don’t stir up trouble. Life is complicated enough—”“Complicated?” Leviana cut him off, her tone sharp. “Am I the one making i

“A-Adrian?”The voice rang clear above the hum of the ballroom, freezing Adrian mid-step.He turned sharply. Standing before him was a graceful woman in an elegant black gown, waves of hair spilling over her shoulders. Those eyes… eyes he had once known so well.“Leviana…” Adrian’s breath caught in his throat.Leviana smiled sweetly, but it was no mere polite smile. There was meaning in her gaze, as if time had never erased anything between them. She stepped closer, her hand brushing against Adrian’s arm as though they had never parted.“I’m not mistaken, am I? You’re still the same… only more authoritative now,” she said in a teasing tone.Adrian stepped back half a pace, trying to keep distance. “What are you doing here?” he asked quickly, his voice strained.“A business event, of course. The fashion world always brings old faces back together, doesn’t it?” Leviana let out a soft laugh, deliberately drawing attention.Heads began to turn. Whispers rippled through the crowd.“Isn’t t

Night still cloaked the city when Adrian parked his car in the far corner of an old café’s lot, nearly deserted. The streetlights flickered faintly, and the cold air bit through his coat. He sat behind the wheel for a long moment, reconsidering his decision.“Why am I doing this…” he muttered, rubbing his weary face. He knew Deviana would be furious if she ever found out. But Vanessa’s sobs from the night before still haunted him, echoing in his mind like screams he couldn’t silence. At last, with a heavy sigh, he stepped out. The café door creaked as he pushed it open. The smell of stale coffee mixed with dust filled the dim room. In the far corner, a woman sat hunched over, swallowed by an oversized black coat.Adrian froze. He barely recognized her.“Vanessa…” His voice came out faint. The woman lifted her face. Adrian’s breath caught. This wasn’t the Vanessa he knew—no trace of the cunning, confident woman remained. What sat before him was only a shadow of her former self: pale sk

Adrian’s phone buzzed softly on his desk. He had just finished closing the investigation files he’d been working on with Deviana. The clock showed it was nearly midnight. His eyes were tired, but his mind kept racing, strategizing tomorrow’s next move. The familiar ringtone made his brows furrow. The name glowing on the screen froze him in place: Vanessa. He let out a sharp breath. “What does she want now?” he muttered, ready to ignore it. Yet somehow, his fingers betrayed him, pressing the green button. The voice on the other end made his heart stop.“Adrian…” The voice was hoarse, trembling, thick with held-back sobs. “Help me… I can’t be alone anymore.”Adrian shot to his feet. “Vanessa? What happened? Why do you sound like that?”The sound of her crying bled through the silence, making his office feel unbearably suffocating.“I… I can’t sleep. I keep hearing voices… everyone left me. I… I’m scared, Adrian. I don’t know where else to go.”Adrian rubbed his face, torn. This was the
