Chapter 6

FREYA

Staring at my phone, I let out an exasperated breath. The more I stare at my phone, the more this annoying feeling starts to sink in. My heart thumps as if it's scared something doesn't feel right.

Something feels off to me.

Narrowing my eyes at my phone screen, I try to interpret the last few texts we exchanged last night. Nothing outright jumps at me, but it still makes me wary. Colin has been a bit aloof since we said our goodbyes at the mall last night, but whenever something like this happens where he forgets that I also exist in this world, he shows up at my door the next day and offers me his full unadulterated attention.

And I have gotten used to him doing just that, but can I wait a whole day to hear from him?

His not being in touch with me is so not like him.

I wonder what Colin is doing at this very moment.

He was supposed to text me today, and we were supposed to spend time together on his special day.

At least, that's what I thought we agreed on.
