Liana stood motionless in the middle of Ashbrook Park, her eyes fixed on the place where the mysterious blue light had vanished.

The laughter of children had disappeared.

The evening breeze had gone still.

For a moment, it felt as though time itself had stopped.

Around her, frightened voices broke the silence.

"Did you see that?"

"It came from the sky!"

"Someone call the police!"

People hurried past her, desperate to get away from the park. Some clutched their children tightly, while others nervously looked toward the darkening sky as though expecting another strange phenomenon.

Liana swallowed hard.

Her feet refused to move.

She couldn't explain it, but instead of fear, she felt an overwhelming pull toward the place where the light had appeared.

Slowly, she walked closer.

The grass where the light had struck looked perfectly normal.

No burn marks.

No crater.

No sign that anything unusual had happened.

She knelt and gently touched the ground.

It was warm.

Not from the evening sun.

From something else.

A faint tingling sensation ran through her fingertips before disappearing just as quickly.

"What was that?"

Before she could think any further, flashing blue and red lights illuminated the entrance to the park.

Police cars arrived one after another.

Officers quickly surrounded the area, asking witnesses questions and keeping curious onlookers behind a temporary barrier.

Liana stepped away before anyone noticed her.

She wasn't sure why.

Perhaps she simply didn't know how to explain what she had seen.

Would anyone believe her?

She doubted it.

With one last glance at the empty field, she quietly made her way home.

---

The streets of Ashbrook were unusually lively that night.

Everyone seemed to be talking about the strange light.

Groups of teenagers excitedly replayed videos they had recorded on their phones.

Some claimed it was a meteor.

Others insisted it was a military experiment.

A few even joked that aliens had landed.

Liana listened as she walked past them, but none of their explanations felt right.

Whatever she had witnessed...

It wasn't ordinary.

When she reached her apartment building, Mrs. Harrison, the elderly woman who owned the flower shop downstairs, was locking up for the night.

"There you are, dear," the old woman said with a smile.

"You look pale."

"I'm fine."

"You've heard about the strange light?"

Liana nodded.

"I saw it."

Mrs. Harrison's eyes widened.

"You did?"

"It was... beautiful."

The elderly woman smiled thoughtfully.

"My grandmother used to tell me stories about lights falling from the heavens."

"What kind of stories?"

"She believed they were signs."

"Signs?"

"That destiny was changing."

Liana laughed awkwardly.

"You don't really believe that, do you?"

Mrs. Harrison simply smiled.

"Sometimes the oldest stories hold the deepest truths."

Those words lingered in Liana's mind as she climbed the stairs to her apartment.

---

Inside, everything was exactly as she had left it.

A small sofa sat beside the window.

Books were stacked neatly on shelves.

A tiny potted plant rested on the kitchen counter.

It wasn't luxurious.

But it was home.

She changed into comfortable clothes before making herself a cup of tea.

Normally, reading helped her relax.

Tonight, she couldn't concentrate.

She kept remembering the blue light.

And those wings.

Had she really seen them?

Or had her imagination filled in the gaps?

She walked onto the small balcony.

The night sky stretched endlessly above her.

Thousands of stars sparkled against the darkness.

For some reason, they seemed closer tonight.

Almost as if they were watching her.

Without thinking, she whispered,

"Who are you?"

Only silence answered.

---

Later that night, sleep finally claimed her.

The dream returned.

But this time...

It was different.

She stood inside a magnificent palace unlike anything she had ever imagined.

The walls were carved from crystal that shimmered with silver light.

Elegant pillars stretched toward a ceiling that seemed to hold an entire galaxy.

Beyond enormous windows floated islands suspended among glowing clouds.

Everything was breathtaking.

Everything felt familiar.

Soft footsteps echoed behind her.

Liana slowly turned.

A young man stood at the end of the grand hall.

He wore black royal clothing embroidered with silver patterns that glowed faintly.

His face remained hidden in shadow.

Only his brilliant sapphire-blue eyes were visible.

They were calm.

Kind.

Yet filled with sadness.

"You've finally arrived," he said.

His voice was warm, carrying a strange comfort that made her heart ache.

"Who are you?" she asked.

Instead of answering, he walked toward her.

Every step echoed through the empty palace.

When he was only a few feet away, he gently extended his hand.

"I've been searching for you."

Liana frowned.

"But... we've never met."

"Haven't we?"

His words stirred something deep within her.

A memory she couldn't quite grasp.

She slowly reached out.

Just before their fingers touched—

A loud crack split the sky.

The palace shook violently.

The beautiful crystal walls began to crack.

Dark shadows spread across the floor.

The mysterious man's expression changed instantly.

"No..."

He looked toward the sky.

"They've found the portal."

The palace trembled again.

"Liana," he said urgently.

"You must remember one thing."

"What is it?"

"No matter what happens..."

His voice began to fade.

"...don't let the darkness find the Heart."

"The Heart?"

"What does that mean?"

Before he could answer, everything shattered into countless fragments of light.

---

Liana sat upright in bed with a gasp.

Her breathing was uneven.

Her heart raced wildly inside her chest.

Outside, the first rays of dawn filtered through her curtains.

"It was only a dream," she whispered.

Yet it hadn't felt like one.

She could still hear his voice.

Still remember those impossible blue eyes.

She looked at the clock.

7:15 a.m.

She was already late.

Hurriedly getting dressed, she left her apartment and made her way toward Whispering Pages.

The town seemed normal again.

People smiled.

Children played.

Cars filled the roads.

Only one thing reminded everyone of the previous night's events.

Every television in every shop displayed the same breaking news.

"Mysterious Light Over Ashbrook Leaves Scientists Baffled."

Experts had no explanation.

No one knew where it had come from.

No one knew what it meant.

Liana quietly entered the bookstore.

Emma immediately noticed her.

"You look terrible."

"I didn't sleep much."

"The dreams again?"

Liana nodded.

"This one felt... real."

Before Emma could respond, the lights inside the bookstore flickered unexpectedly.

Both women looked toward the window.

High above Ashbrook, hidden beyond the clouds where no human eyes could see, an ancient portal slowly opened.

Inside stood a lone figure dressed in black royal attire.

His sapphire-blue eyes overlooked the human world below.

"The Human Realm..." he whispered.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped forward.

A streak of brilliant blue light shot toward Earth.

Far below, completely unaware that destiny was about to cross her path, Liana reached for another book.

Within moments, her ordinary world—and the life she had always known—would change forever.
