I began to get frantic, looking under tables and in the pantry and walk in cooler, but she was nowhere to be seen. My sense of smell didn’t help either. I only smelled the clogging scent of black licorice everywhere. I retraced my steps going back to the hall and turning right to the back door, I saw something dark and sparkling stuck halfway at the door that was just above the handle. Getting closer I could see it was the same color as Melody’s dress.

My heart began to beat wildly in my chest, making me sprint forward. I opened the door and the scrap of fabric floated to the ground. There was nothing out there, save for a few wolves nursing wounds. “Where is she?” I picked up the one closest to the door, the black licorice stench marking him as a Black Haven. “Where is Melody?”

“The hell like I’d tell you” the wolf spat. I put my fingers into the hole in the wolf’s stomach and began to move them back and forth, making the man scream in pain. “Stop! Stop!”
