Winona came to see how Cait was doing after the abortion and informed her that she would require two days of rest in the hospital before being released. Abortions took a toll, so even after that, she would need to rest for weeks.

Every phrase was accepted by Cait. In order to thoroughly heal, she made the decision to take a whole month off.

Cait picked up her phone after Winona had departed. As anticipated, Evan didn't make a single call.

However, for her? It was a button for reset.

It was no longer painful to see things clearly. It was a comfort. It was preferable to getting tangled up over a careless man.

Suddenly a notification popped up on her screen. The caption read: Traci Woodley just posted a video. Tap to view”

Her thumb lingered over the phone screen.

With a slight smile, Cait long-pressed the screen and selected "Not Interested."

She should stop torturing herself. That chapter was over.

She hired a caretaker to aid in her recuperation after being released from the hospital.

For a whole month, she slept, ate, and allowed her body to recuperate in bed in the workers room at the hospital.

She paid the caregiver at the end of the month, changed into a lovely long dress, applied minimal makeup, and then went back to Creed mansion.

She was going to discuss divorce.

At 9:30 AM, she arrived at the mansion.

Rhea greeted her then proceed to make dinner.

Cait went upstairs to the study after eating and telling Rhea to tell Evan to come home because she had something important to discuss with him, and Evan wasn’t picking her call.

The divorce decree remained unaltered on the desk, precisely where she had left it a month prior. Evan had never returned.

She held off till ten o'clock. She heard footsteps outside just as she was about to give up.

However, it was Rhea, not Evan, who opened the door. "Mrs. Creed, I informed Mr. Creed," Rhea remarked. "He stated he won't be returning because he has plans tonight. He requested that you return another time.”

Of course, what was to be expected?

Cait gave a sneer.

Another time when? Although she had appeared this time, there was no assurance that she would be present just anything he decided to see her.

She had had enough of being confined to this cage. Weary of wasting her time on a man who didn't deserve it.

She hesitated for a moment before getting to her feet. "When he comes back, tell him I left something for him on the desk."

Rhea gave a nod. "I will, Mrs. Creed."

After grabbing her suitcase, Cait departed.

After getting into the car, she was momentarily unsure of where to go.

She drove aimlessly until she saw it: a throng of well-dressed people streaming out of the Leed City’s Grand Hall. The most of them dispersed swiftly, but she was stopped in her tracks by three individuals.

Traci and Evan, each clutching a hand of Katie. With their heads cocked toward one another, they were giggling, and Cait could feel the closeness of the moment piercing her.

"Traci, you are so pretty!" exclaimed Katie. "Akin to a fairy! And that music on the piano? It was incredible! Can you teach me how to play when I'm older?"

Katie pulled on Traci’s arm, her expression the ideal balance of childlike enthusiasm and admiration.

With a bright smile, Traci bent down to boop Katie’s nose while wearing a white evening gown that glistened in the lights. "I'll teach you whenever you want, sweetheart."

"Daddy, isn't Traci the best?" Katie asked Evan after leaping up joyfully.

The corners of Evan’s eyes wrinkled. He gave a nod. "Mm."

Katie then stated in a single, heartfelt, and proud statement, "I wanna be just like her when I'm big!"

Through the windshield, Cait observed.

That admiring expression? She had never received it from Katie.

Following the marriage, Cait neglected her personal needs in favor of devoting all of her focus to Evan and Katie. Her hobbies had been abandoned, and her hair had become an afterthought.

She was only the chef and housekeeper to Katie.

And Traci? She was the glossy, flawless one who attracted attention and had fun.

Cait felt a deep ache in her chest.

Katie extended her arms at the door of the hall. "Traci, hug me!"

Just in time, Evan stopped her. "Baby, you’re going to stain Traci’s dress. You know she’s putting on a white dress, and it might get stained easily.”

“That’s true. Don’t carry me anymore, Traci. If your dress gets stained, you’re going to look ugly and I don’t want that.” Katie pouted.

Both Traci and Evan laughed. “Getting my dress stained doesn’t mean I’ll get ugly. Haha. But—“

Traci instantly knelt, lifted Katie with ease, and smiled at Evan. "It's alright stained or not. I can always wash it. Katie receives an embrace if she requests one.”

Evan grinned. Cait saw a warm, gentle gaze that she had never seen before.

His hand lifted Traci’s dress train so it wouldn't drag on the floor as he followed them down the stairs.

Bending over to adjust a woman's clothes, this was the man who commanded boardrooms and never backed down from a battle.

After getting into the vehicle, they left.

This was his alleged "plan" for tonight, then? Cait couldn't contain her laughter.

She sat for a considerable amount of time. Her phone rang after that. It was the hospital. "Ms. Douglas," Cait said courteously.

Cait was still among the hospital staff's least experienced physicians.

Hope Douglas, her supervisor, spoke on the other end of the line. "The training course may conclude early. You can return to work the following week."

Cait paused. "Is the location for the rural charity clinic still available at the hospital? The one for children's health examinations? I would like to submit an application.”

Hope sounded taken aback. "The countryside is difficult. No benefits or assistance with promotions. The quota is in place, but nobody is pressuring us. It’s—“

"I'm sure," interrupted Cait. "Think of it as a vacation."

Hope gave in when she heard the strength in her voice. "All right. After that, leave for two months.

After two months without their "heir" Evan’s family was breathing down his neck once more. He so arrived at home. It was two days before Cait’s ovulation.

When he entered, Rhea’s eyes grew wide. "Mr. Creed, you're finally back.”

Evan remained silent. He paused on his way upstairs to tell Rhea, "tell Cait to meet me in the bedroom."

Before Rhea could tell him Cait hadn’t been home for months now, Evan had already left.

Evan wasn’t going to stay here for long because he was just here for one purpose: to try again for pregnancy with Cait.

Evan waited on the bed after taking a shower.

It was about eight o'clock. Then ten, eleven, twelve o’clock. After three hours, Cait had not still come inside. He thought she was still throwing tantrums because of the last issue.

Evan was about to lose patience when he heard footsteps outside the door.
