Chapter 2: Turned into a maid

Mrs. Gina Adams woke up in her bedroom as it was the first room given to her when she initially got married to Mr. Leo Adams, and two months before he sent her away to live in the boys-quarters apartment.

She sat up on the bed and stretched as she stared at the room clock time and saw it was already 7 am.

She carefully dropped her legs down from the bed and felt like the madam of the house again.

"Hmm.. how time flies." She murmured and wore her slippers as she adjusted her white nightgown properly.

She stood up from the bed and walked out from her bedroom as she went downstairs.

Mrs. Gina Adams is a 39-year-old lady. She knew that it's school resumption day, and her 14-year-old daughter named Mia Adams is going back to school.

Mrs. Gina carefully went downstairs to the living room and paused as she stared around the living room couches and the center table.

She saw that the living room has already been mopped clean.

A satisfactory smile curved up her lips, and just then Olima stepped out from the kitchen behind Mrs. Gina and greeted, "Good morning mother."

Mrs. Gina's blood boiled hot as she heard Olima called her mother.

She turned to face Olima, who was in her light blue nightgown. She rushed to grab Olima by her shoulders.

Next, she landed Olima a hot resounding slap - [SLAP!!]

"How many times have I warned you never to call me mother again? Or do I resemble your stupid late mother?" Mrs. Gina questioned angrily, and Olima burst into tears and apologized, "I'm sorry, ma."

"Shut up! And keep your stupid sorry to yourself. Have you prepared my daughter's breakfast yet?" Mrs. Gina asked, and Olima stammered and replied, "Yes... ma."

"Hmm," Mrs. Gina glared at Olima and stared at her palms that she had used to hold Olima by her shoulders, she pushed Olima away and sniffed her palms.

Mrs. Gina narrowed her eyes at Olima as she went into the kitchen to wash her hands off Olima's fruity scent.

Olima's brown eyes welled in tears while Mia walked out onto the balcony upstairs and saw when her mother had slapped Olima.

The sound of the hot slap reverberated in the living room that even Mia shuddered.

She stepped downstairs into the living room and was dressed in her blue school uniform.

White stockings and black shoes, as she carried her black school bag and set to leave for school.

Mia is in senior class 1 and knows that her mother hated Olima with a passion.

Mia hated Olima too, even though she never showed it to Olima that she hated her.

As Mia is a black skin beauty and resembled their late father, while Olima is very yellow and looks like her late mother too.

Mia hated the fact that while her father was still alive and before he had passed away.

He never acknowledged her own mother, as he was always doting on Olima and her mother named Mrs. Zoe, more than he ever cared for Mia's mother - Mrs. Gina.

Mia attended a day school while Olima was in boarding school, as Olima was the apple of her father's eyes, while she and her mother were seen as outcasts.

Mia frowned and walked downstairs into the living room as she made her way towards the dining table.

Mia knew that after her father had passed away, her mother had sent the previous maid away, with the disguise that there was no money to pay the maid anymore, and she mandated for Olima to become their full-time housemaid, with Olima's complete withdrawal from her tutorial classes, and her mother even tore the admission form into any university, stating that Olima wasn't going to any university, but would remain as her lifetime housemaid.

Mia stared away from Olima as she knew that Olima enjoyed all the luxury of their parents' wealth, while she and her mother had to suffer and live in the boys-quarters building.

As her mother had already told her the whole story.

Olima's eyes flooded with tears as she sobbed from the hot slap that was given to her.

Mrs. Gina stepped out from the kitchen again, as she had finished washing her hands off Olima's fruity scent. Olima scented like apple.

Mrs. Gina paused and questioned Olima. "What do you stand there doing? Have you prepared breakfast yet, or do you want my precious daughter to be late for school?"

Olima shivered and replied, "I have prepared her noodles, ma."

"Hmm," Mrs. Gina glared at Olima and stared at her palms that she pushed Olima away and sniffed her palms.

Mrs. Gina really hated Olima, as Olima looked so much like her late mother, Mrs. Gina's former childhood friend, and also reminded Mrs. Gina of her grievous sins.

"Mom.. Is everything okay?" Mia asked as she smiled at her mother.

Mrs. Gina sighed and stared at her daughter. Mia also too resembled late Mr. Leo Adams, making Mrs. Gina feel more guilty.

She walked to the dining table to join her daughter and settled on the first chair across from Mia.

"It can never be okay with that stupid witch living in this house with us. Ugh," Mrs. Gina grimaced and subtly remembered how her late husband usually sat across from her at the dining table, feeding Mrs. Zoe in her presence too.

Mrs. Gina's face twisted in irritation at the remembrance, and Mia asked again, "What's wrong, mom?"

Mia was seated across from her mother at the dining table.

Mrs. Gina sighed and replied, "Nothing. What is taking Olima so long to serve out that noodles in that kitchen? Or does she want me to storm into that kitchen and deal with her there?"

Olima quickly walked out from the kitchen carrying a tray of hot noodles with eggs in her hands.

The noodles were kept in a smaller plate on the tray, with fried eggs placed on top of the hot noodles.

The aroma of the noodles made Mia smile and sit up properly on her chair as she collected the tray of noodles from Olima's hand.

Mia didn't know how to cook, and Olima was forced to learn how to cook by Mrs. Gina shortly after she took over the mansion.

"Get out of here! Or why are you still standing there staring?" Mrs. Gina growled at Olima, and Olima shuddered away, knowing her stepmother hated her so much.

Olima wished that she never lost her parents, and they never drove in the same car to her school to witness her graduation from college, the best in her science department. And now, her stepmother has plainly refused her from furthering her education with the excuse that there was no money, but Mia was going back to school after the school had resumed from its long-term holiday.

As Mia was in the second term already, while she was still at home.

Olima walked a bit to the kitchen door and stopped.

She turned back and stared at the dining table as she thought to speak with her stepmother again. That she really needed to write the university entrance examination and gain admission to any university, even the cheapest institution just to study nursing.

Olima walked back towards the dining room again while Mia ate the delicious noodles and fried eggs quickly as she knew that her school bus would soon arrive.

Olima stopped with a trembling body and spoke. "Ma..."

"Hmm," Mrs. Gina turned and glared at Olima.

She met Olima's brown orbs and questioned, "What do you want? I thought I asked you to leave here?"

Mrs. Gina shifted her chair backwards and stood up, while Olima took some steps backward and replied with a shaky voice, "Ma.. it's about my university entrance examination that I spoke to you about."

"And I told you that you're not going to any stupid school, Olima. Don't you understand simple English? How did you graduate from your school as the best in your class, when you couldn't even understand simple English at home? Get out of my sight now before I give you another slap!" Mrs. Gina shouted, and Olima ran away to the kitchen door.
