Olima paused at the kitchen door, as she didn't want to give up on trying to beg her stepmother.
She had graduated as the best in her school, and if she had known, she could have accepted the school scholarship program that was offered to her then.
But she thought her father had better plans for her.
She turned and begged Mrs. Gina again, “Please Ma, I really need to write the university entrance examination, to gain admission into any university.”
Mrs. Gina growled, “And who will sponsor your school fees, Olima?
Did you forget how your loving father cast me and Mia away?
Well, in case you've forgotten, let me remind you that the money that I'm using to feed you now, It is the money that I'm supposed to use in paying the previous old maids that I've sent away.
As there's no money in this house, and I cannot take my business money to sponsor your educational fees into any university.
Why am I even explaining all this to you? Just get out of my sight now! Before I break your head!” Mrs. Gina shouted, and Olima finally went back into the kitchen.
Nathan was the gatekeeper of the mansion, and he knocked and walked into the living room.
He stepped in to inform Mrs. Gina that the school bus has arrived to finally take Mia to school.
Nathan knew that Mrs. Gina wasn't the madam of the house before, but after his late madam dismissed, Mrs. Gina finally took over the mansion and also became the new madam of the house.
He greeted Mrs. Gina, “Good morning, ma. The school bus has arrived to take Mia to school.”
Mrs. Gina sighed and replied, “It's okay, Nathan. You can leave us and inform the driver that Mia will be outside soon."
"Okay, Madam," Nathan bowed and immediately left the living room.
He's a 35-year-old man, and he sighed and went outside to inform the school bus driver to wait.
Mia was through with her breakfast, as she enjoyed the noodles and fried eggs that Olima had cooked.
She stood up from her dinner chair and carried her black schoolbag away from the next chair, as she said to her mother, “Mom, I'm off to school. Take care mom."
“Okay, my baby. Take care too," Mrs Gina replied and sighed. As she stood watching her only child exit the living room.
Mrs. Gina stared back at the dining table and went to pick up the dirty plate and tray that Mia had used.
She wondered what Olima was still doing inside the kitchen. So she went into the kitchen to find out by herself, instead of calling Olima outside.
Olima stood beside the kitchen sink and washing her yellow face. As her big brown eyes had turned pure red.
She heard the sound of the kitchen door slide open, and she immediately stared backward and saw her stepmother walking into the living room.
Mrs. Gina glared at Olima, and she immediately asked Olima, "What are you doing standing there beside the kitchen sink?"
Olima quickly replied, "Nothing, Ma. I was washing my face."
"Hmm," Mrs. Gina was silent, and she walked up to the kitchen sink too, to drop the dirty tray and plate there, so that Olima can wash it.
She stared at the noodles carton that was on top of the cabinet top that Olima left open, and she saw the three noodles and two eggs that Olima had carefully placed on the cabinet top to cook.
She asked Olima, "Why did you place the noodles and eggs there?"
Olima nervously replied, "I want to cook them, Ma."
"Hmm," Mrs. Gina walked towards the carton of noodles that she had bought the previous week. And she inspected it, as the noodles were the smaller-sized packet.
She asked Olima, “How many noodles did you cook for Mia today?”
“Two noodles, Ma,” Olima nervously replied.
"Two noodles, and how many noodles am I seeing here that you want to cook for yourself alone?" Mrs. Gina asked in shock, as she stared into the carton and saw that it was almost empty.
Olima shuddered and replied, “Three noodles, Ma.”
“Three noodles! Just for you alone! My goodness!" Mrs. Gina gasped out, as she stared back at Olima that shuddered backward.
Mrs. Gina asked, "Did you plan to turn me into a thief overnight? How can you finish just three noodles and two eggs at once? No wonder you still look so fresh and beautiful even after losing your late parents..." Mrs. Gina's eyes burned coals at Olima that was shivering in fright. Mrs. Gina stared back into the carton and counted it.
She said, “Only one noodle and one egg is enough for you from today henceforth. If I find out that you cook more than one noodle and egg per day for yourself alone. Then you will see the other side of me.”
“It's only 10 noodles left in this carton. And when I bought it new. It was 40 packets... So automatically, You and Mia have eaten 30 noodle packets just this week. And I am sure that you ate the most. Now return those two packets back into this carton to make it twelve, and you cook just one noodle and one egg for yourself. But before that, first prepare my tea, and then bring it out to the dining table now.”
Mrs. Gina let go of the noodle carton and finally walked out of the kitchen, while Olima sobbed and quickly rushed to the cupboard to prepare her stepmother's tea. Just the way she knew her stepmother would like it.
Olima finally stepped out of the kitchen, and into the dining room, carrying a tray of hot teacups in her hands.
She walked up to the dining table, and served it in front of her stepmother who sat there patiently waiting for her.
Olima finally went back into the kitchen to prepare her own breakfast.
As she prepared the one noodle and one egg for herself, she didn't want her stepmother to punish her.
After she finished cooking the noodle and egg, She sat on a stool in the kitchen and started eating her noodle docilely as she sobbed.
She missed her parents and knew that her late father was a billionaire, and money was never a problem.
Tears freely rolled down from her eyes as she knew that her stepmother hated her and wondered who would speak to her stepmother now on her behalf. As none of her relatives seemed to care anymore after her stepmother had arrested them before.
When they were only concerned about her late father's properties. His oil company and mega houses too.
Olima finished eating her breakfast, and she stood up from the kitchen stool and went to drop her plate in the dirty sink to wash it out.
Later, she stepped into the dining room to find out if her stepmother was through with her tea, so she could wash the teacups and tray too.
She saw that her stepmother was no longer there at the dining table as the mansion seemed silent.
She heard the sound of a car starting in the garage, and she walked up to the dining room window and saw that her stepmother had driven out of the garage, using one of her late father's expensive new cars.
Her late father had up to five brand new spotless cars with three Jeeps too.
Olima sighed and walked back into the kitchen to wash all the dirty used plates and teacups there before she went upstairs to her bedroom to sleep and rest for the day, as she was so tired and alone at home.
After her bath, she wore another light blue gown and she lay on her bed and wondered how she would overcome her stepmother's brutality daily. Next, she fell asleep on the bed.
Later in the evening, Mrs. Gina arrived home from her boutique shop, where she sold feminine wear, and she drove into the mansion premises and parked the car.
She stepped down from the red car and locked the car door using the car remote.
She remembered how her late husband had agreed to buy a car for her. After Mia had grown up to be a 5-year-old little girl, and complained that Olima's mother had a car. And her mother also needed a car too.
That was when Mr. Leo finally decided to buy a new small car for her that she had been managing since then.
Mrs. Gina sighed and stared at her small black car that was still parked in the garage.
She shook her head and finally walked up to the mansion frontage to enter the white house, as they have a beautiful fountain at the center of the compound and many beautiful flowering plants at the frontage.
The late Mrs. Zoe was a floriculturist , and a lover of flowers and plants.
Nathan finished locking the gate, and he greeted Mrs. Gina again, "Welcome back, Madam." He saw her walking up to the mansion frontage.
"Yes, Thank you, Nathan. Did anyone come to look for me?" Mrs. Gina paused and asked, and Nathan replied, "No, Madam."
"Okay," Mrs. Gina answered, and she finally climbed up the mansion frontage and went into the living room.
Olima sprang up from the living room black couch as she saw her stepmother walk into the living room.
She didn't hear the sound of the car engine, as she was watching the interesting romantic movie with Mia in the living room.
The flat-screen television was so loud, she didn't know when Mrs. Gina arrived.
Mrs. Gina was wearing a long blue gown that brought out her shape, as she was carrying a black handbag too.
Olima quickly greeted her, "Good evening, Ma."
Mrs. Gina's black eyes burned coals at Olima, as she didn't respond. She shifted her gaze to stare at the living room wall clock time and saw it was already after 7 pm in the evening.
Yet, Olima didn't come to her shop in the afternoon to collect the money that she would use in preparing their dinner for the night.
Mia stood up too and greeted her mother, “Good evening, mom.”
Mrs. Gina finally stared at Mia and replied, “Evening Mia. How are you doing today? Have you done your assignments from school yet?”
“Yes, mom, I have. Olima helped me to do it.” Mia responded, and Mrs. Gina sighed, "Hmm."
She stared at Olima and saw Olima walking away towards the dining room, and she asked Olima, “Olima, have you prepared dinner yet?”
Mrs. Gina knew that there were no foodstuffs in the house, but she still had to ask Olima that question.
Olima nervously replied, “No, ma. I've checked the kitchen cupboards and there's no foodstuff there.” Mia frowned as she was hungry, and she asked, “Why didn't you talk since in the afternoon?.” Olima stared from Mia to her mother in shock as she was helping Mia to do her assignments from school since. Mia was acting nice and friendly with her, but once Mia sees that her mother had arrived home. Mia would change and start acting rudely like her mother's toxic behavior too. Mrs. Gina sighed, “Hmm, and you sit down here since with Mia and watching the television. Didn't you know that you were supposed to come to my shop at the marketplace to ask for money to refill the house with food stuffs and the things that you will be needing in preparing our dinners for tonight, or did you expect us to starve with you this night?" Mrs. Gina glares at Olima in a cold voice. Olima fearfully replied, “No ma.” Mrs. Gina's eyes narrowed at Olima and she opened her purse and brought out some new ca
Olima finally found a taxi and she entered into the back seat and told the taxi driver her destination, “To the Emerson estate.” The taxi driver replied, “Okay.” He started the car and drove ahead as Olima was the only one seated in the cab and arriving at the Emerson Housing Estate gate entrance. The taxi stopped while Olima paid for her ride before she alighted from the taxi and rushed into the estate gate, running home speedily. The estate security men stared at Olima and wondered what was chasing her again with her running home as they knew her. One of the estate men said, “She's a gorgeous young lady, and mostly running errands after her parents were gone.” The others kept quiet and continued with their job as there were four security men there. Olima finally arrived home in front of her late father's mansion gate and she banged heavily on the gate while calling out to Nathan. Nathaniel quickly approached the gate from within, pulled the small gate open, and asked her, “Wh
Nathan dragged Olima outside of the mansion, and she sobbed and begged him, "Please sir, don't throw me out. I don't have anywhere to go to, Please Nathan." Olima cried, and Nathan replied, "I'm sorry, small madam, but I cannot help you now. You have to leave this house." Nathan was also worried as he didn't know what Olima had done. He had seen her return home and run back speedily into the house, and now she was sobbing heavily, and Mrs. Gina ordered him to throw her outside. Olima begged, "Please don't throw me out. This is my father's house. I don't have anywhere else to go to, please." Nathan let go of Olima's hands and raked his short black hair in frustration. He is a dark-skinned man and was of average height too. Mrs. Gina stepped out of the mansion and questioned, "Nathan! Is that witch still outside there?" Nathan stared at Olima in fret and pulled the gate open as he replied, "No, madam. I have sent her outside." Nathan wasn't yet ready to lose his job; he opened t
Justin stared at Jesse's face in the strip club parking lot, and after contemplating for a while, he said, "Remember the pretty lady that we saw when we were leaving the estate?". Jesse smiled and replied, "You mean the one who ran away from you when you approached her?". Justin glared at Jesse, but Jesse laughed and apologized - "Forgive me, boss." "Justin! How many times do I need to remind you, Jesse, to stop calling me boss?" Justin questioned angrily as he never liked it when Jesse tried to maintain the master-servant relationship between them. "I'm sorry, Justin, but you know that your father will be angry with me if he finds out that I am being friends with you and calling you by your name," Jesse apologized. "I know, and that's why I want you to call me by my name, especially when we are not at home and in public places like this. To reduce others' eyes on me," Justin said. "Okay, Justin," Jesse replied, and Justin sighed frustratedly and said, "I just seem to like that y
Jesse's eyes also widened in shock as he saw Olima's face and knew that she was the same young lady that Justin was asking about earlier when they were still at the club, but now she looks so battered than when he earlier saw her before. Jesse couldn't believe that she was the one and Justin was seriously worrying himself about her too. Olima was still unable to speak about who had hurt her as she cried and begged Justin, "Please, sir... help me get to the estate gate?" Justin asked her, "Why?" He held her left hand closely as he didn't want her to run away from him again, but his phone continued ringing out in his black suit trouser side pocket. Jesse's phone also rang out too, and Justin knew that his parents were the ones calling him. Even though they acted blindly towards him sometimes, his mother still always called him to know where he was and if he was alright. Justin said, "Wait first..." He immediately took out his phone from his trouser side pocket, and at the same tim
Justin's car finally drove into the garage and parked. He stepped down from his car first and saw his mother standing at the mansion frontage and staring at him too as he walked over to the second side of the car and assisted the young lady in stepping down from his car. Mrs. Juliet was wearing a red long rosy nightgown and hearing the sound of her son's car arriving in their compound and parking in their garage. She immediately rushed out to have a peek at who had arrived, and seeing it was Justin made her relieved. Her husband had traveled abroad for a business trip to other states where he owned other mega houses as well, and she knew that he usually cheated on her, even more than Justin. Her husband, named Mr. Emerson Robert, kept his promiscuous lifestyle a secret, thinking she wouldn't know. She had seen a lot of photos and videos of him with some shameless young ladies who were proud to host her husband in their beds. Despite knowing that he was a married man and a billionai
Justin walked into the living room with his mother, but Mrs. Juliet wasn't in a good mood at all and she questioned him, "Son, just take a look at the time. You're just arriving home now. It's after 12 am in the midnight!" Mrs. Juliet ranted, and Justin rather apologized to his mother, "I'm sorry, Mom. I saw her on the road, and I couldn't just drive past her." "Why, son? We have the estate security agency to help her out, and now with you bringing her here, that will prolong the matter and warrant more questioning and explanations. What if that young lady did something more terrible in her family home or killed someone there, and you shamelessly brought her here to us, to implicate us too?" Mrs. Juliet roared out her frustration at Justin. "No, mother! She's innocent and cannot hurt a fly," Justin said, and his mother shook her head as her black eyes narrowed at her handsome son. "Okay. It's already late now, and I want to go and sleep. Tomorrow, I want you to take her away from h
Justin replied to Leah's greeting, "Good morning Leah, how was your night?" Justin was practically a free guy, and even though he knew that he was supposed to be strict with his staff and workers, he wasn't that type of guy that took life so seriously and should be demanding for respect all the time from his staff. He knew so well that Leah, Jesse, and their gate man, Alex, all respected him as he is their boss, just after his father, but he smiles with them and plays with them behind his parents' back, especially when his father isn't at home, as his mother usually turned a blind eye on his playfulness sometimes, but his father didn't approve of it at all, and always told him to maintain his distance of boss to servant relationship with their staff. "My night was fine boss, and yours?" Leah asked Justin as she paused her sweeping and stared up at his balcony again, he was leaning on upstairs. "Fine too," Justin replied, but his eyes remained focused on Olima, while Leah saw that he
