Sophia's POV

I quietly opened the car door and got down from the car. I had gone to a garden to sit and relax before I got home. I switched off my phone so no one could reach me. I slammed the door of the car and walked towards the door of my apartment. It was already a few minutes past seven when I inserted the key into the doorknob. “You think I can’t get you?” a voice snarled behind me, A loud laughter followed. A hand clamped tightly around my neck, firm and unrelenting. Before I could react, I felt the cold press of a gun against my head. I gasped, struggling for breath, coughing. “Please… please let me go,” I choked out. I started sweating profusely, “How dare you talk to me that way?” The voice came again, it was a lady. The voice sounded like Damian's sister, “Who… who are you?” I stuttered. “You want to know about me, it's not necessary.” She said and burst into another round of laughter, “Don't play with fire, leave Damian alone, I came on my own to do this, I should have s

Sophia's POV I came down the stairs, heading to the dining room. My steps were brisk, purposeful. “You finally came.” Damian's voice came, He was digging into his food slowly, and quietly. I swallowed hard and then my lips curved into a smile, I nodded in affirmation. “How do you feel now? You have to take some water first, you just woke up with your head spinning.” He said, stealing a glance at me while pouring some water into a glass cup. I stared at him, and collected the glass from him, “Thank you.” I said, while I gulped down the glass of water, “Have you ever been in love before?” He spoke, his words shooting through the silence in the dining room like a bullet, sudden, sharp, and impossible to ignore. I fixed my gaze to him, the only relationship I have now is with Hillary and it's a contract relationship, and I'm in love with Hillary, I began to reminisce on the night Hillary and I shared some intense moments together. “Elena,” He called me out of my deep thoughts, “Well no..

We had stayed indoors till it was evening before we came out of my house, I didn't know who it was. But I believe someone was after Damian, “You go upstairs, shower and take a nap while the cook gets you something to eat.” Damian said while he walked inside the mansion, I stared at him then I tapped on my phone screen, it was 7pm already. “Do you have a hand in this?” Victor, Damian's right hand man asked, cutting me off guard. I gazed at him in shock, my mouth parted slightly in awe, “Exc.. excuse me, what do you mean,” I asked, stuttering. He chuckled slightly, “Ms. Rivers, right behind you.” He said, motioning for me to go first as he followed close

Author's POV “How dare you?!” Damian shouted, badging into Josephine’s house. His voice filled with anger and pain, “Oh you think I won't find out? I have eyes watching.” He said, glaring at his sister while she trembled in fear, “She attacked me too!” She suddenly found her words, “Liar!” He snapped at her, “This would be the very last time you will do such a thing,” He said, his words filled with pain, his tone carrying venom. Josephine walked up to him, closing the gap between them. “Why am I even scared of you? Huh, just know that the lady you think is having an interview with you is up to something else,” She said, while she moved back and burst into a loud laughter. His jaw clenched, eyes dark with simmering fury, every breath a silent battle to keep control. “Watch your back, Josephine,” he said, voice low and sharp. I reached out for my phone inside my bag, and I tapped the screen on and I gazed at the number wondering who it was, “I shouldn't have left Damian's office,” I said, hitting on the steering and lamenting, it was just a call. On the second thought I didn't want to pick the call in Damian's presence but I would have turned off the phone, I quickly dialed Damian's number. “How about we schedule another interview?” I said, when he had picked on the first ring. “Sure, maybe at my place this time, you come during the weekend right?” He asked and I swallowed hard, his house?
