7 A Daisy in the Sun

Good morning. What a great day today is. I woke up with the sun rising, and I couldn't help but think of you.

P.S. You remind me of the daisy flowers blooming in a sunrise.

Your sun

I blinked, seeing the message notification on my phone as early as the morning. I reread it, knowing damn well who it was without seeing the number.

Who else would dare to text me something as cliche as this?

No one.

No one but Ajax.

I do not know him well enough, but based on his approaches to me, he would say this.

I do not know him well enough, but based on his approaches to me, he would say this.

I didn't bother to reply.

I prepared for my day, took a shower, and prepared my favorite avocado bread toast and my morning milkshake.

Have to stay healthy to maintain my body after all. What does a girl have to do to keep her job and not become jobless?

I grabbed my earphones and listened to my favorite playlist with my workout pairs, water bottle, and a bag filled with a change of clothes. Since I have a spare hour before work, I have to go to the gym. I only do this thrice a week when I have the time, but I need this since I often get fat.

Despite my unstable mental health, I get self-conscious when it comes to my body that I take care of it better than anything in the world.

As soon as I was about to open the door, I stopped when the door won't bulge open, and I heard the sound of loud things outside dropping. I paused, before opening it fully and saw a box of flowers waiting outside, together with a paper bag. A note was written on a pink sticky pad, and messy handwriting was there saying, "Eat, you'll need it for today;)."

I saw the security guard assigned in this building, Sir Joel, walking and grabbing a few petals off the floor and carrying two more bouquets.

"Sir Joel? What is that?"

"Someone sent this to you, ma'am. As you reminded me, I am getting rid of it." he said, "really, your admirers are getting out of hand; they even know your address, ma'am, Ellaina." He said worriedly, "I worry about your safety. I suddenly remember that stalker you had last year."

Goodness, I don't even want to think about that. This is the price of working as a public figure; I couldn't even catch a break.

I felt unsafe even in my place that I couldn't call it home anymore.

I smiled at him, giving him my spare cash as a tip, "Thank you, that's why I trust you, Sir Joel; it's for you to protect me. Show them your moves and scare them away."

He chuckled at my joke, feeling a bit embarrassed. Sir Joel has been guarding this building for ten years, and the tenants in this condo trust him. We treat him as our family too.

"I don't blame them for admiring you, ma'am; you're too nice to us, even our guards."

Because I know the feeling, I wanted to say it, but I didn't. "I'm just thankful for your service." Then I pointed at the big box blocking my door, I opened it, and the smell of daisies greeted me. It smelled good, but the box was too full and a bit overdone.

Is there a wedding here?

I turned to Sir Joel, "and this box? You're not going to remove it?"

"Oh, haha, actually, ma'am, I couldn't. The person has strictly ordered me not to."

"Why?"

"He told me he's waiting for you."

I could already tell it was Ajax. He knows where I live, and he must have befriended Sir Joel. Knowing Sir Joel, he never trusts people easily, especially people approaching me.

I nodded, not wanting to involve Sir Joel in this matter. I know Ajax will leave and return to his home country anyway.

"Now I gotta go; keep my place safe, Sir Joel!"

"You can trust me on that, ma'am! Have a great day!"

"You too!" I exclaimed as I walked. I was going to the elevator when a handsome man appeared.

It's Ajax.

His lips instanlty turned into a smile, "Hey there, daisy."

I scowled, "Daisy?"

"Yes, daisy, and im the sun. A daisy needs her sun. have you read my text and note and received my flowers?"

"Yes."

"What do you think? And the flowers? Oh, what floor are you going to?"

I didn't reply and was pushed to the 30th floor.

"So? are you going to ignore me?" He asked.

"The text message is cheesy, the note is in messy handwriting, and the box was blocking my door. I almost got late." I said, looking at him expressionlessly."

"Oh…I guess I'll have to improve my ways then. By the way, did you eat the food from the lunchbox?"

"What food?"

He sighed, "You should eat it."

"I have already eaten."

"I know you're not eating properly. You need to take care of yourself."

"I know."

He nodded, "So are you going in that outfit?"

He looked at my sports attire, his eyes trailing to my neck, collarbone, and toned abs.

"What are you staring at?"

He released a shaky breath and turned his head away, "Uhm... I didn't expect that I'll see it now.."

He then removed his suit and put it n me, "Wear this."

"Why?"

"your body distracts me. I need to focus."

"Focus on what?"

"you're taking me around the city as my tour guide, have you forgotten?"

I sook m head, not evn undertsanding whats in his mind. Right. I said yes to him last night. I should not have said that. I should not have promised him anything.

"I have to work out first," I said.

His ears perked up, "Then I'll come with you."

A message appeared on my phone. "Enjoy your day, dear. Your shoots are already done for this week. Unwind yourself with Ajax."

I rolled my eyes. Damn, even Manager smith, the most person who never trusts people easily, Ajax already took him.

The elevator dinged and opened; Ajax grabbed my workout bag and went ahead. I looked at him and can’t help but think that it was as if he already knows this place well.

Everyone greeted him as we walked to the lobby, even the staff, the janitors, and the fellow workout buddies I have who are mostly actresses and models. I blinked, sensing all the eyes on us.

I inched closer to Ajax and asked, "Why are people staring?"

He smirked, "It's because of you."

I shook my head, "No, they are looking at you."

He just went silent when a woman, dressed as a staff here, appeared, "Mr. Sillas, here's your-

Ajax looked at her, glaring as if he was sending a signal to her, but the woman nodded, biting her lip and stopping.

"Oh...I apologize sir….please excuse me." She bowed, shaking a bit in panic before walking away from us.

I furrowed my eyebrow at him. "What was that? You just scared the poo woman away.” What I hate the most is someone treating the staff badly.

“That was nothing..” He answered, “Let’s just go.”

He tried to direct my attention but everyone we walked by was greeting him. “Why does everyone know you here?"
