Sienna

The darkness was warm.

It wrapped around me like a blanket, soft and relaxing, offering me an escape from the pain I couldn’t quite remember. In the darkness, there was no Drey. No divorce No fall and no blood spreading on the marble floor beneath me.

There was only peace.

But that peace didn’t last.

I woke with a start, violently pulled away from the comforting darkness and thrown into a light so harsh it burned through my closed eyelids. The smell of antiseptic enveloped me and pain pulsed through every part of my body.

The pain crashed over me in waves. I felt it in my legs which throbbed with a deep, bone-level ache. In my arm which felt like it was on fire. Even my ribs protested evey breath I tried to take. But the worst of all was in my abdomen.

The baby!

My eyes flew open, and I immediately regretted it. The light was blinding, and I squeezed them shut again as a groan erupted from my throat.

“Mrs. Falcon? Can you hear me?”

I winced at how loud the voice was, it pierced my skull. I opened my mouth to try and speak, but my throat was raw and my voice came out as an undignified croak.

“Water,” I manged. “Please.”

I listened as the footsteps hurried away and returned moments later. A straw touched my lips almost instantly, and I drank greedily. The water was cool and soothing, and I felt some of the fog in my head begin to clear. I opened my eyes again, slowly, waiting till they adjusted before focusing on the face above me.

A nurse.

I was in a hospital?

“You’ve been unconscious for three days,” she said gently, placing the cup on the table beside my bed. “We were starting to worry.” she allowed a gentle smile touch her lips. “How do you feel?”

Like I died. I wanted to say but kept my mouth shut instead.

I’d been unconscious for three days. Its been three days since the fall. Three days since Vanessa pushed me down those stairs. Three days since Drey chose her over me. Three days since he issued me divorce papers. Three days since I tried to tell him about our baby.

“The baby!” I shot out, my wide eyes focusing on the nurse. “Is my baby -”

The nurse’s expression shifted instantly, the smile on her lips falling. “Mrs. Falcon, I need to tell you something and you have to promise to remain calm."

My heart leapt and started a marathon in my chest. Something in the nurse’s voice made me want to puke. Something that felt as heavy as stones settled in my chest and I cleched my jaws together.

“Is my baby okay?” I gritted out as sweat rolled down my face. “Please tell me my baby is fine.”

The nurse reached for my hand, but I pulled away. I didn’t want comfort or pity. All I wanted was the truth. To hear that my child was alive. That everything was going to be okay. That this nightmare wasn’t real.

But the nurse had no intentions of telling me what I wanted to hear.

“I’m very sorry,” she said, bowing her head. “We couldn’t save the pregnancy. The impact of the fall you had caused a severe hemorrage, and they were complications. The doctors did everything they could, but…”

She trailed off, but I could already guess what she wanted to say, even though I hoped with everything in me that she was wrong. I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces. Hot tears poured out of my eyes.

No, she was wrong. My baby my baby was.

Was what? Alive? Drey killed her. He killed our child after I’d had to spend two years as the invisible wife. Loving him from the shadows, hoping that one day he’d see me. But instead of seeing me, he ripped my world away.

“I’m really sorry,” the nurse said again, propably sensing the depth of loss I felt. “We really tried everything we could, but you lost too much blood. If you had arrived here faster, maybe you wouldn’t have…”

She couldn’t bring herself to say the word. Maybe I wouldn’t have lost my baby. Maybe I wouldn’t have miscarried. Maybe I would still have one light left in this otherwise bleak world.

I had no idea when the nurse finally left. Had no idea how long I cried. Hours, maybe. But the tears just kept coming, and I couldn’t stop it. I couldn’t stop remembering the way Drey looked at Vanessa, the coldness in his voice when he handed me the divorce papers, the way he had rushed to her side while I lay bleeding out on his floor.

Bleeding out our baby. The little life I’d carried, the future I’d dreamed of and clung to. Now, it was all gone. In the end, he won, didn’t he?

My body was broken, but that pain was nothing compared to the emptiness inside me. I’d lost my parents, their company, my marriage, and now my child. What was left of me? What was the point of going on?

The door opened again and someone stepped into the room. I didn’t open my eyes. Id din’t want to see anyone, talk to anyone, or feel anything.

“I’m sure you’re not in the mood for visitors,” a voice said. “But I came anyway.”

I siffened at the sound of the voice, because it was one I’d recognize anywhere, even in my sleep. Even in the depth of my wallowing, I would recognize that cold, elegant, and dismissive voice.

I opened my eyes slowly and stared into the cold eyes of Margeret Falcon as I fed from the hate and anger that brimmed inside me.

“Mrs. Falcon,” I said flatly. “What are you doing here?”

  • Billionaire's Regret: Chasing His Lost Love   A Grey Day

Sienna I've always hated funerals. But I found out today that I loathed memorials even more. Especially when it was my parents'. I hated the pretentiousness and the fake sympathy people brought to it. It had been like this eight years ago too, during my parents' funeral. Strangers I barely knew, offering condolences with dry eyes and calculating smiles, already wondering what they could take from a dead man's daughter.Eight years. It was hard to believe that much time had passed since I last saw my parents. Since they got into that accident and I lost everything they'd left behind for me. That day, same as today, I let the tears fall freely. I didn't fight them. There was no one left to be strong for yet, not back then.I missed them. I realized that all over again, as I stood at the foot of their graves, looking down at the writing carved into the headstones. Uncle Charles had been maintaining the grave for the past five years ever since he came back into my life and told me the

  • Billionaire's Regret: Chasing His Lost Love   Where are you?

DreyFor some reason, I’ve been thinking about Sienna Stanford very often recently. No, it wasn’t recent. Ever since the incident five years ago, I couldn’t get the woman out of my mind. Even now, the image of her lying on the ground, blood pooling beneath her, flashed behind my eyes.“Please the baby.”Even now, I could still hear the desperation in her voice. I could still feel it shake every thread in me, every fiber of my being.I could still hear those words I’d chosen to ignore, yet they followed me longer than anything else from that day. At the time I hadn’t understood them. I’d been too busy getting worried over Vanessa’s cut to think clearly. It was only later weeks later that those words finally rang in my head and I realized the implications of what I’d done. Or rather, what I hadn’t done. The life I didn’t save because I chose to turn a blind eye to her. She’d been pregnant. Sienna had been pregnant and she had tried to tell me about it.By the time I realized what she

  • Billionaire's Regret: Chasing His Lost Love   Not My Enemy

SiennaWhat would you do if the man you supposedly hate with every fiber of your being was standing in front of you looking like a god on a hot Tuesday morning?Despite being several feet away from me, I couldn’t deny how good Drey Falcon was looking. He was so tall I’d probably have to tilt my head to look up at him and he seemed to occupy almost all the space around him.My heart was still thumping rapidly in my chest. I hadn’t expected to run into him so soon, but more than that, I didn’t expect how my body reacted to him. Every memory I’ve tried to bury for the past five years rushed up to the surface. Choking me.But I pushed them back in before I could start reliving them, pulling at the anger that had kept me going for the past five years.“Are you sure you’re okay, Sienna?” Jason pressed forward, his arm digging into my skin as he looked down at me, concerned drawing his lip into a tight, thin line. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”I shook my head. I might have, because wh

SiennaFive Years LaterJason Carter was joking, of course, but you should have seen the stricken look on my face when he said those words to me. It’s been five years since that day, and Jason Carter is still as mysterious and enigmatic as the first day I met him.Still, he’s become rooted in my life and that of my twins.“Mama?” Ethan called out, tugging gently on my blouse. “Will Uncle Jason be coming with us as well?”I smiled at Ethan, while looking up to catch Jason’s eye. Ethan was the youngest of the twins and the most outspoken. In physical looks, he was the one who took after Drey more. The resemblance was uncanny, and one of the things that made me uneasy about moving back to New York. But Uncle Charles thought this was the best time. “Your company has become a global pillar,” he’d said during one of his visits to us. “It’s time to return home and reclaim what those people took from you, Sienna.”“I think Emma hates that we’re leaving,” Ethan continued, pulling me out of my t

  • Billionaire's Regret: Chasing His Lost Love   A Rewarding Break

SiennaWhen Uncle Charles said I was going to disappear, he didn’t say it was to Singapore, neither did he say how long I needed to disappear for. Still, it was a clean break. The first week after I kissed New York goodbye was hard. I couldn’t get all the things Uncle Charles told me out of my head. I couldn’t stop wondering if Drey knew about all of it, or if he’d been part of it from the very beginning.A part of me wanted to reach out and ask him if truly he felt nothing for me. If I really had been nothing but a pawn to him. But whenever that question sprang up in my mind, the image of myself lying at the foot of the stairs with blood pooling beneath me would pop up as well.I had my answers. I just had trouble accepting them. The second week, though, was different. Uncle Charles, through video conferencing, introduced me to one of my father’s subsidiary businesses, the only one he’d managed to save from the Falcons, because they’d seen it as worthless. I had a lot of work ahead o

  • Billionaire's Regret: Chasing His Lost Love   The Evidence

SiennaThe Falcon’s may have a hand in the death of my parents?I didn’t want to believe it, but the evidence Charles prepared that stared at me from my lap was no joke. Why would they? How could…But after what I’d seen and endured for three years, could I really doubt this evidence? Could I doubt Charles? The Falcons were capable of anything as long as it benefited them. But would they go as far as murder?Would they go as far as killing my parents and puppeteering me? The latter was the easiest to believe. I still found it hard to wrap my head around the idea of them being involved in my parent’s death.“I have so much to tell you,” Uncle Charles cut through my thoughts, taking my hand in his. The warmth from his hand seeped into me, pushing the cold and shock away. “And very little time to say it.”I stared at him and I saw nothing but my father’s face. The last time I’d seen him was when he was leaving for a business meeting. He never came back. The news I heard next was that the
