ALEXANDER'S POV

For the first time in days, I slept peacefully.

Completely at ease without waking up in the middle of the night to quench my thirst or even answer nature's call.

When I felt a soft touch on my face and as I struggled to open my eyes, my heart was giddy with a weird calmness.

It wasn't until I opened my eyes and saw Franklin grinning at me that I knew why I was feeling so happy.

It wasn't a dream.

Katherine came home last night.

And Franklin too!

I chuckled softly and smiled back at him as he grazed my cheeks lightly with a feather which I assume was the culprit behind the soft touch that woke me up from sleep.

"Daddy, you're awake!"

I sat up and pulled him on the bed.

"Yes, champ. Now , whose fault is that?"

He giggled and leaned his head on my chest.

I felt light as a feather and my heart squeezed gently with emotions that I could barely describe.

Waking up with my son next to me was something that I've always imagined since the day I discovered I have a

Alexander finally got the morning he’s been dreaming of—his son in his arms, laughter in his kitchen, and Katherine under the same roof. But peace is fragile, isn’t it? Sometimes the people you least expect walk in at the most delicate moment. And when the past collides with the present like this… it’s never just a coincidence.

ALEXANDER'S POV I didn't want it to get to this. I never meant to send her out but the fact that she was pestering me when I could barely keep my head straight forced me to yell at her.She flinched and stared at me with a look of disbelief on her face. I didn't need anyone to tell me that I messed up big time and it was worrisome to try and think about how to fix it.“Kathie ..” I called gently and walked close to her but she moved back almost immediately, her eyes still filled with tears. It was obviously because of the way I spoke to her, not because she had been crying earlier.“Uh… I'll go prepare dinner,” Bethany said and quickly left us.I didn't even notice that she was still watching us all these while.“What are you hiding from me, Alex?”Nothing!I wanted to scream at her, to tell that it wasn't really a big deal, but it was. At least to her.She just bawled in front of me about how scared she was of losing her mother's company. I can't begin to imagine how mad and shatter

KATHERINE'S POV Something definitely happened at the park. The look on Alex's face as he walked in holding Franklin was all but hiding back a very worried expression.“Mummy!!” Franklin exclaimed as soon as he saw me and ran towards me.Even Franklin was acting strange. The way he held on so tightly to me like he usually did whenever he had a nightmare or whenever he was scared about something.“Is something wrong?” I ran my hands through Franklin’s hair but my question was directed at Alex who looked everywhere but my face.“Alex…” I called and he finally looked at me.He tried to maintain a straight face but I could see through him. Something was definitely bothering him.“Huh..? Oh, uh…nothing. Is Hazel still here?”I shook my head, “ Hazel left not quite long. We have…”The words stopped and I gently pulled Franklin away from me.“Baby, Why don't you go upstairs and rest? It's been a long day, hasn't it?”Unlike him, Franklin immediately agreed and ran upstairs without taking ano

ALEXANDER'S POV My fists curled into balls and I stood still, watching her, at the same time, trying to speak words of reason to myself because the first thing on my mind as I watched that fake smile on her face was the urge to punch it away. She suddenly turned and her eyes caught mine, if I didn't know better, I would have said that her eyes softened as it met mine… almost like that of a girl seeing her crush.Impossible.That darn bitch has nothing but hole in place of an heart.“Alex!” She exclaimed with excitement and walked towards me, ignoring the fact that some of her popcorn kennels fell to the ground.“Hey!! I thought you've gone back with Franklin.”Who told her his name??“How do you know his name?”I never believed that I would have this much self control while facing a two-faced psychopath but wow, I guess some thing happen. She looked confused, her face pale before she immediately put on that irritating mask of a smile.“Oh, Alex. I'm his step aunt. I obviously know th

ALEXANDER'S POV I turned to look at him as he fished with the stuffed toy he won at the claw machine.“You've seen her before?” He nodded, still focused on his toy.Weird.Katherine never mentioned that she met with Clara when she was with Franklin or was it when she came back to Texas?“Your mom introduced you?” I asked.I don't know why I bothered asking, but something just doesn't sit right with me and I desperately wanted to push that feeling away. This time, Franklin dropped his toy on his lap and turned to face me, wide-eyed.“Mummy didn't see her.”Huh?How then did he see Clara if he wasn't with Katherine? Was it Hazel?I wanted to brush it off and ask Katherine about it later but there was this gut feeling within me, this growing suspicion that ate at me as I tried to ignore it.“Ohh…you saw her with your aunt Hazel?”He shook his head and my throat clamped up immediately, my hands tightened against the steering wheel as I waited for his response.“I saw her at home.”At h

ALEXANDER'S POV Bribing a child was easier than they made it seem in the movies. I expected Franklin to still be sulking on the way to the park but he was quite cool with it and couldn't stop bouncing with excitement in his seat.I get him though. It's been almost a week plus since we both went out together and he's been stuck in the house, of course he'd be dying to go outside.“We're here!! Dad!!! Look, the clown is already chasing other kids!” He exclaimed with excitement and peered through the window as we slowly drove into the park.Kids…They get excited over everything.“Really?” I said, trying to match his enthusiasm, “What do you want to do first, Frankie?”He straightened himself on his seat and turned to look at me, his brows furrowed in a way that mirrored mine whenever I was deep in thoughts.“I don't know… There's so much to do,” he murmured, “Oh! I know!! I know! Let's go ride the carousel first! I love the carousel!”I laughed at how excited he was and nodded.“Okay b

  • Billionaire's Regret: It's Great to See You Again, Daddy!   Chapter 188 — We Have a Problem.

KATHERINE’S POV “Welcome home, traitor.” Hazel’s voice sliced through the cheerful smell of coffee and bread, and I froze mid-step, holding onto the strap of my bag like it could save me. She was pissed no doubt and I knew she had every right to be. Franklin was her godson, he was her precious baby also. She must have thought of how lonely the poor boy must have been to stay at home without me. “Good morning to you too,” I muttered under my breath, forcing a smile as I walked further into the living room. Hazel’s eyes flicked from me to Alex, who still looked annoyingly unbothered, like a man who had slept ten straight hours without a single ounce of guilt. Well, of course he doesn't have to explain himself to Hazel. Franklin, sitting cross-legged on the rug with his favorite toy car, looked up at the sound of my voice. His face lit up instantly, until it didn’t. “You didn’t come home last night, mommy,” he said with a small pout that hit me straight in the chest. “I know, b
