MATTHEW

Zara leaned in so fast I almost didn’t catch it.

Her lips touched mine. Soft. Warm. Real.

At first, I froze. I didn’t know if this was real or just one of the many dreams I’d had about her.

But it was real. She was kissing me.

And the second I knew it was real, I kissed her back. Slowly. Hungrily.

My hand moved to her waist, pulling her close like I had done once before, years ago, when we were still us.

She tasted like honey. Just like she used to.

Like the memories that play in my head every night. Like hope.

I deepened the kiss. Her fingers clutched my shirt like she was holding on for dear life. I could feel her breathing change, sharp and unsteady, just like mine.

The city lights behind us blurred. The rooftop, the noise, the past, it all faded.

It was only her. Her lips, her hands, her scent.

God, I had missed her. Missed this.

This fire between us that never really died.

ZARA“Hazel we are going to be late!” I yelled at my daughter. We both woke late, and have been hurrying to meet up with time.“Auntie Vic is waiting already!” I continued to yell, hopping she will rush outside this very second.I haven't been to the firm in days, not after Matthew visited me or our thirty minutes kiss, or my daydream in his car.I think about all of them, all the time. And it's part of the reason I haven't been to work. Despite me still thinking about what to do with the information he gave me about Monica. But I didn't stay idle, Vic finally found an apartment she liked. Myself, and Hazel helped her move in. It has been fun, especially with her trying not to hard to impress Evans. I mean what's with that, he is a driver.“I'm ready, mama,” I turned to look at Hazel, and I gasped silently. Swallowing hard. She is looking more like Matthew everyday, and soon I won't be able to keep it secret from her.“What is it, Mama. Don't I look ready?” She asked me.“Oh, baby. O

ZARAA part of me wanted to push him away, demand answers, lay down rules and punishments for years of avoidance and pain, but that part of me was steamrolled by desire, crushed utterly by the heat sparking along my veins. My chest ached, my stomach twisted, and some old version of myself—the one from freshman year, the one who never stopped waiting for his attention, his love, affectiona..“You shouldn't have let me hanging, Zara,” he murmured against my mouth, the words muffled by our teeth. I answered him with another kiss, even messier, my hands clumsy in my excitement, my body electrified by the risk, the wrongness, the possibility that any second someone might see us and everything we’d tried to hide would shatter out into the open.He laughed, low and easy, and pulled back just enough to look at me. “You’re freezing,” he said, brushing his thumb along my cheekbone. “You always get cold when you’re nervous.“I’m not nervous,” I lied, voice breathless. He arched a brow. “Zara,

  • Billionaire's Rekindling Love   25!Sorry, Vic. I have to do this!

ZARA“Catch me if you can!!” I yelled, and we began running round the garden. My laughter filled my ears, and I could feel the air in my hair.“I got you,” I felt his muscular arms surround me, and I screamed happily.“You always find me,” I said, and turned to look at him. His eyes were filled with love, and passion. They make me fall in love with him even more.“I will always find you, Zara….I will always find you Zara…” the voice echoed.“Ha!” I jerked up from my bed, I looked around, and sighed.“Not again,” I had another dream of Matthew.I sat on the edge of my bed, running a hand through my hair. My heart was beating too fast for a dream that wasn’t real. But it felt real. His voice. His touch. The way he said my name like it meant something.I looked down at my hands. They were shaking.I hated that he still had this kind of power over me—even in my dreams.I took a deep breath and got out of bed. I had a full day ahead. No time to think about Matthew. Not now.But his words k
