Chapter 4 - Secret Revenge

/BAM!/

The door slammed shut as he stormed out, leaving me crying alone in this operating room.

“Belle.”

Another man's voice greeted my tears. It was Luke Davis, still there, holding my hand, then pulling out a ring with a golden box from his trouser pocket.

"After all this, are you sure want to get back to Mattheo?" he said as we were alone. "If you become my wife, I'll give you the best position in the company. I'll cure your illness, and you can destroy Mattheo just as he destroyed you. What do you say?"

"Argh! Just shut up! I don't need you!" I snapped at him, pushing his body away as he tried to persuade me.

I yanked the IV tube, the needle piercing my hand, causing it to bleed. As I ran away from the operating room, fresh blood flowed from my hand, causing other patients in the hospital to scream in fear.

"Madam, you have surgery scheduled today!" A doctor shouted, trying to catch up with me as I ran frantically. "Have you forgotten? You need to undergo surgery if you want to survive!"

"I don't need it!" I yelled, running like a mad person in the hospital corridor. "Besides, what's the point of getting better? If my husband doesn't even want me!"

My escape led me outside the hospital gate. My chest felt so tight, it felt like I was about to die soon. As my body almost stumbled, a woman with two bodyguards came to meet me.

She was Natalia, my step-sister. She was alone waiting in the car as if deliberately coming to see me alone.

"Here, take all this money and leave Mattheo," she threw money from the suitcase to me, so much so that the bills fluttered like raindrops.

"I know you need money for your operation," she continued with a mocking look. "You also have to take care of that baby alone, right? I can give you more money than this, as long as you stay away from Mattheo."

"Natalia ... I can't believe it. Of all the men in the world, why does it have to be my husband? Why do you have to take him away?" I said, crying, sitting pitifully like a fool.

"A sick and poor woman like you is not worthy of Mattheo. He will be happier with me!" she shouted. "And you're about to die soon. Can you make him happy? What Mattheo needs is a great woman like me, who can support his company!"

'A great woman who supports his company.' That sentence was like a dagger stabbing my heart.

Yes, I had nothing left. Our contract marriage existed out of necessity. I am now destitute, Mattheo doesn't need me.

"Tck. You'd better leave. And make sure Mattheo doesn't know about your pregnancy. I won't let him be the father of that disgusting baby!" Natalia left with her luxury car, leaving me behind.

As she left, I saw an advertisement on the Billboard screen on the skyscraper building in front of me.

[Mattheo Sinclair & Natalia Starling's Wedding Reception]

[Grand Luxury Hotel Sinclair Group]

[ XX March 20xx]

“That’s impossible..." I shook my head, looking at their wedding announcement advertisement on the Billboard screen. "We haven't divorced yet, and their wedding has already taken place? As if they've been cheating on me long before I realized it..."

I couldn't accept this bitter reality. Why did everything come so relentlessly?

My illness, my unwanted pregnancy, Mattheo divorcing me. Why isn't everything going as I hoped?

My head hurt so much, and I felt like I was going to explode. I couldn't bear it. The pain made me want to run away, and without realizing it, I had been walking aimlessly in the middle of the city until late at night.

With the worn-out and blood-stained hospital patient clothes, my bare feet led me into a bar on the edge of the city street.

"Good evening. Can I get you anything?" A young and fresh Bartender greeted me at the bar table. When other customers looked at me strangely, a stray patient in the bar, he didn't say anything.

"I don’t need anything. Just give me your lips," I half-heartedly said, not realizing what I was doing. My hand moved on its own, pulling the bartender's collar and kissing his lips.

"Whoa! That woman is crazy!" exclaimed a bar patron who witnessed us.

"Hmph!" I didn't know anymore. My mind was so messed up. I grabbed the Bartender's lips in heartache as if venting my emotions on someone innocent.

"H-Huh?" Amid the kiss, I felt someone pulling my hand from behind and separating me from the bartender.

A man, in a fragrant black suit, hugged me tightly as if he didn't like me kissing the Bartender.

"M-Mattheo?" My vision was blurry, but the man holding me now looked so much like my ex-husband. The scent of his suit, his tall figure, even his heartbeat.

"Are you him?" I said, tears of pain falling. "Sobs. You're so cruel! How could you divorce me? And you cheated on my sister! How can I raise our baby alone? I need you, Mattheo. I can't live without you ..."

"I know," said the man who surprised me. I knew he wasn't Mattheo, I was just venting my anger on him. Then why did he answer?

"Don't approach other men besides me," he said again. His hand lifted me and took me into the hotel room in the bar.

On the bed, I saw Deja Vu. He took off my clothes, and his lips kissed my stomach as if he knew our baby was there.

"I want to make love with you," he whispered. Even his husky and deep voice sounded so much like Mattheo.

"Mattheo ... is that you?" I asked. My eyes were so blurry that I couldn't see his face. But his silhouette resembled him.

'But ... It can't be, right? Mattheo is already with Natalia. He can't be here.' I kept saying to myself repeatedly.

We made love as if there were no tomorrow. His touch was full of love that I had never received. But I remembered our first sex on our wedding night.

It's as if the man having sex with me now is trying to make me remember our past marriage. Making me forget the pain and suffering I've endured today.

I let his touch intoxicate me. Whether it's an illusion or not, I feel like the man on top of me is Mattheo. The man who has divorced me.
