Finally free.

The throb of my heart grew uncontrollably as I reread the email on my phone screen. It was finally happening, I was going to be in the corporate world for the first time.

"What's with the smile?" Brav questioned looking up from the laptop screen.Then the corner of his eyes narrowed and mistakeable jealousy crawled up his face as he edged closer to where I was lying on the bed.

"Is it a man?" His jaw was tensed and one could see that he was clearly angry. His Jaws highlighted expensively while they grinned on each other.

"Ofcourse not,I finally got a response for a job I had previously applied for and done a vitual interview on. I got the job!"one could hear the excitement from my tone and the smile I had on was so bright that it made the sun look bad.

He snatched the phone from my hands obviously not believing a word I said . His gray eyes immediately darkened with rage as he threw the phone on the bed.

"Why the fuck would you apply for a job and not tell me?"he snapped.

"I...I thought you would be happy for me ." I said as I lifted my upper body from the bed so as to sit upright.

"You have some nerve...as if it wasn't enough that you applied for a job ,you went ahead and took a virtual interview..tsk!"

"Bu..uut"

"No buts,you are not going to that job Alicia and that's final." He thundered ,then stormed out of our one bedroom apartment.

I sighed,pulling my knees to my chin as I fought the tears gathering at the slit ends of my eyes . All I wanted was a real office job,with health insurance,stable income and healthy working hours. Not a shitty fourteen hour shift at the diner downtown. Just for once could Brav not see that, maybe moving in with my high-school sweetheart was not such a good idea .

I loved him though, too much so that I was willing to put up with his temper tantrums . Besides, love is blind,right.

The tick tick sound of the watch hanging on the wall indicated that it was only five minutes past eight , I pulled a towel around myself walking towards the bathroom. I hummed all of me by John legend as I soaped my body enjoying the calmness taking over. Once I was done I went through my wardrobe and my eyes caught on to a particular dress I had bought for when Brav will finally get his act together and take me out on a date or something.

I snarled on the thought knowing fully well that nothing like thar was going to happen, atleast not any time soon.

I pulled it on , loving how the Wang black dress hugged my curves oh so perfectly. Some lip gloss on,smoky eyes and my fourinch wedge heels that I loved so much .

I needed to get out of the house and take a breather,hell even go out to the club . One drink wouldn't hurt considering the ordeal I just had with Brav.

The small miles to the club were spent in dire thinking regretting every single decision I had made in my life from the moment I kissed him.

But the part I hated the most was how I could not bring myself to unlove him after everything that happened despite how pathetic that sounded in my ears.

"We are here miss." The cab driver spoke moving me from the strain of my thoughts.

"Thank you." I paid him as I entered the club. My eyes were drinking the beauty of the club and the very many people that were inside . It felt good to see some new faces.

I maneuvered through the crowd of dancing people and reached at the bar and sat on the tall bar stools.

"Whiskey on the rocks please. " I ordered as I was surveying the scenes in the club. The loud music was the escape I needed from the stream of thoughts I had . I wasn't planning on staying there for the whole night ,I just needed an escape.

I was dreading going back to the apartment and having to.deal with Brav. Whenever we had a fight he would always go out and get drunk and that was a scene I was trying to avoid.

I paid off the taxi I had taken back to the apartment. Exhaling deeply,I pushed the door open carefully closing the door behind me , afraid that a small sound could wake him.i turned around,unstrapped my heels then walked to the bedroom. The bed had already been made and I assumed that he hadn't come back yet.

I sighed in relief.

"Where the fuck were you?"His voice froze all the air in my lungs .

"Uh..I.. I.. "

" I won't ask you again Alicia..where the fuck are you coming from at this time of the night?"He roared as he edged closer stopping when his lean but slightly taller frame towered over me.

"Brav,you went out angry and I assumed you would.be drunk and you won't pick up my calls."I tried to make him understand .

"Assumed?" He chuckled .

" you really are one dumb bitch you know that." He spat before leaving the room.

The ping of my phone caught my attention as I was sulking at the corner of the room, dreading why I even put up with this shit.

It was a reminder email from the Blazzer electronics company . Attached to it was my plane ticket. My flight was leaving tonight. I frowned as i thought of a wasted opportunity like this and I immediately starting packing up my clothes into a suitcase .

I fled off the room and into the sitting room, where Brav was sitting with his beer in his hand as usual.

"And where do you think you are going?" He asked as he stood from the couch.

"Going to catch my flight , and there is nothing you are going to do to stop me Brav." My voice was breaking as I held on to my suitcase so tightly.

"W..ha"

Before he could say another word I was already out out the house and I got into the first taxi I could see .

"Just drive." I screamed at the Latino driver who was smoking a cigarette in the car . He dimmed it and turned on the ignition. A smile crawled on my face as I looked back and saw Brav trying to chase us .

I was finally free.
