Dr. Jonathan, after a quick examination on her, realized there was little he could do at the moment since they were not in the hospital. Acting fast, he carefully lifted her with the help of the nurse who had come with him.

They placed her gently on the stretcher.

Her eyes were wide open, yet there was no awareness of her surroundings. Her skin burned with fever; her body radiated an alarming heat.

The nurse and the driver quickly grabbed the stretcher handles, rushing toward the ambulance.

“Alright, Matilda… after you.”As the elevator doors opened slowly, Matilda stepped in first. The manager followed. Before the doors closed, Matilda turned her head slightly toward Jerald, who was standing by the car, hoping to say goodbye to her.Their eyes met for a brief moment.Jerald gave her a small, proud nod.“Go make it happen,” he said calmly.A faint smile appeared on Matilda’s lips. The elevator doors slid shut.---Stepping out of the elevator onto the office floor, right in front of them… was a fan.The young lady froze the moment her eyes landed on Matilda. Her mouth opened slightly in shock, and the file she was holding almost slipped from her hand.“Oh my God… wait… wait… aren’t you…?” she said, staring closely at Matilda’s face as if trying to be sure she was not mistaken.Matilda stopped walking. For a split second, her heart skipped. She had not expected this — not here, not now.The manager looked from the lady to Matilda with surprise.“You know her?” the manager

Standing up from the ground with her mouth full of his load, she paused for a moment. After several minutes of doing a great job down there, making him enjoy every bit of those minutes and seconds, she finally rose to her feet. She walked to the bathroom and emptied her mouth into the WC.After cleaning herself up, she stepped out again, straightening her dress downward with both hands.Jerald was dressed in black chino trousers and a vintage white shirt, with the first two buttons from the top left open, and casual shoes on his feet.“Are we ready to go?” Matilda quickly asked as she picked up her black bag and her phone from the small bedside table where she had kept them earlier.“Yes, let’s go,” Jerald replied, standing up from the bed where he had been seated while putting on his shoes. As they walked down the stairs, just at the last step leading into the parlor, Matilda—who was in front of Jerald—suddenly stopped moving the moment she stepped onto the floor.Jerald walked up be

Jerald hurried through his bath, mindful of the time. Matilda had an appointment to catch within the hour.A few minutes later, he stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. Another towel hung loosely in his right hand as he used it to dab the water from his hair. Droplets slid down his chest and shoulders as he walked toward the closet.Matilda was still sitting on the bed.Her eyes were closed, her hands stretched slightly behind her, supporting her weight as she leaned back. She looked as though she was replaying a pleasant moment in her mind. The sound of the bathroom door opening made her eyes snap open. She had been waiting for that moment. The instant she saw him, she stood up and walked quickly toward him. Before Jerald could even speak, she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him.Jerald froze in surprise. His eyes widened, the towel still resting on his damp hair. What is happening here? he wondered.Matilda didn’t pause. She held onto him tightly,

“What do you think?”Matilda asked, her eyes fixed on the dress she held against her body, pressing the fabric lightly against her waist as she imagined how it would look on her.“Do you think this will look great on me?”“Wow… you’ve got an eye, you know,” Jerald replied casually.“I bought that dress—alongside so many others—when I traveled to South Africa for some office work.”He gave a short laugh.“But guess what? My wife never wore them. Not even once.”He looked up briefly.“That will look great on you. Try it on.”Jerald’s attention quickly returned to his phone just as it gave a soft beep, signaling a new message.Without lifting his eyes from the screen, he asked,“So… what’s the occasion?”“Why are you suddenly trying on new dresses?”Matilda glanced at him through the mirror as she continued adjusting the dress against her body.“Remember the modeling agency I told you about? The one that called off my contract last month?”Jerald nodded slightly, still scrolling through

Her skin burned with fever; her body radiated an alarming heat. The nurse and the driver quickly grabbed the stretcher handles, rushing toward the ambulance.Within seconds, the vehicle roared out of the compound, its siren blaring loudly through the night.WEE-OOO… WEE-OOO…“Where is that siren coming from?”Jerald jerked upright on the bed, reacting purely by reflex.Without hesitation—without even a hint of concern—he pulled himself away from the warm body lying against him.Matilda, who had been resting comfortably on his chest, quickly sat up. Her forehead tightened in irritation as she shot him a sharp, angry look.Jerald was already moving toward

“Have you gone nuts?” Vivian quickly replied. “Get out right now, before I do something I will regret,” Jerald responded harshly, his voice sharp with anger. As he spoke, he got up from the bed and walked straight toward Vivian, who stood beside the door. When he reached her, fueled by rage, he grabbed her hands to push her out. She resisted. He pulled her toward himself—then shoved her out the door. She fell backward onto the floor. He slammed the door, not caring what was happening to her. He returned to Matilda, who was exactly where she had been kneeling, a smile spread across her face. It was obvious—she was very happy that Jerald had treated Vivian so harshly. Hey, babe, calm down already. I know she can be a handful sometimes. With her finger pressed against his lips, she whispered, “Shhh,” stopping Jerald from talking about what had just happened. Her left hand rested on his chest as she leaned forward, her body brushing against his. She glanced back over her sho
