7. She wants a date

It was forty-five minutes after ten when his Mercedes AMG CLS 53 car pulled up in the parking lot of the company. He wasn't to be in the office until noon, but he had some documents to work on so he decided to come in earlier than scheduled. The huge door to the administrative complex opened automatically as he stood in front of it. He responded to greetings from his staff as he walked into his private elevator that led to his office.

“Good morning sir.” His assistant greeted him as he opened the door to his office. He responded with a nod to her as he walked toward his table.

“I sent your schedule for today to your email.” She stated, flipping through the files in her hand. “You don't have any official meeting today, just have to prepare for an interview with JB media on Monday.” She added and he raised an eyebrow at her.

“What interview?” he asked curiously, his eyebrows shooting to the top. He hadn't been informed of any.

“An interview with my JB media, you are to appear on the front cover of their business magazine for the first half of the year.” She explained and his lips curved into an “oh”

“Why am I just knowing about it now?” he asked and she stared at him in disbelief, her eyes almost bulging out.

“The offer came in more than a month ago and you told me to accept it.” She explained, wincing at his almost lack of enthusiasm.

“Okay. The interview is on. I'll just finish up with this document and get back home.” He stated, indirectly telling her to leave and she caught the clue, walking out of the door.

His phone buzzed few seconds later, he picked it up and it was a message from his dad. He opened the message and saw a phone number with the name “Jenna.” He sighed. His dad was really serious about setting him up with this girl. He had barely dropped the phone when it started ringing. He stared at the number for few seconds before picking it up. It was from an unknown number but he already figured out who it was.

“Hello” he said into the phone with one of his most professional voice, his face remaining stoic as he spoke.

“Hello, Jack.” The voice called from the other end, soft and tender, but at that point, it sounded like noise to his ears.

“Who is this?” He asked plainly without bothering to exchange pleasantries.

“It's Jenna. Your dad gave me your number, he said you were expecting my call." She replied and giggled, causing him to roll his eyes.

“For starters, I wasn't planning on calling you. Two, I have important things to do right now, so I'll hang up.” He stated, already getting irritated by her. He wasn't a fan of chit chats and small talks, especially not one from a lady he already despised.

“No, wait.” She shrieked “My dad suggested a meeting between our companies over dinner today.” She started nervously and he smirked, though she could not see him.

“When did you become part of the company, Miss Tyrone?” he asked sarcastically over the phone.

“I'm representing my dad, so dinner by seven?" she rushed nervously, missing the sarcasm and he chuckled.

“My official duties for today end at four PM. Any meeting outside that is for personal issues, and no, I'm not up for that.” He stated and her face dropped. The line went silent for a bit before she spoke up again.

“Okay” she muttered nervously.

“If it's an official meeting, you can come over to my office now or we can catch lunch by three.” He added and her face lit up in smiles.

“Lunch by three then.” She replied enthusiastically and he dropped the call.

“Yes!" she screamed after dropping the call with Jack. She was very nervous while talking to him. The strictness of his voice almost made her pass out, but she succeeded in setting up a date with him. She smiled to herself triumphantly as dropped her glass of champagne.

“I'm done with these files, send them as an email to Zack holdings and schedule a meeting with the CEO.” Jack gave orders to his secretary as he stepped out of his office. She nodded in response, trying to arrange the documents in a file folder. He had spent over two hours in the office working on the files. After dropping the call with Jenna, he had switched off his phone to focus on work. He hated distractions.

After handing the files over to his secretary, he walked out of the office. He was dressed in black combat joggers, a grey hoodie, and white Nike Jordan sneakers. After hitting his personal gym, he had decided to go with something simple since he wasn't going to stay long in the office. He drove into his house, parked, and stepped inside. He walked to the kitchen to prepare himself something to eat since he hadn't eaten anything all through the day. He took out the ingredients to prepare pasta and placed them on the kitchen counter. He was a good cook but rarely cooked due to lack of time.

The doorbell rang few minutes into his cooking and he ignored it. He wasn't expecting any visitors. The bell rang again and he hissed. “I'm coming.” He yelled, walking out of the kitchen to go check the door. He wiped his hands on a towel and unlocked the door.

“Surprise!” the person yelled and he smiled widely.

“Hey man! How you doing?” he greeted, giving him a bro hug. They hugged for some before pulling away.

“I'm good, Man.” he replied, walking into the house and plumping down on one of the sofas.

“When did you come into California?” he asked as he brought out a drink from the bar.

“Arrived last night, checked in at your hotel, had a business meeting to attend, and now I'm here.” he narrated while Jack poured the drink into two glasses.

“Did you miss me that much, huh harry?” Jack teased, smirking while he rolled his eyes.

“You know I don't miss you, I'm only worried about your lonely ass” he retaliated while Jack rolled his eyes.

“When was the last time someone else apart from me visited here. One year ago?" he mocked. Harry was Jack's best friend. They had been friends for more than five years. They both lived in California before Harry moved to Chicago after completing college.

“Any new girl?” Jack asked, trying to push the conversation away from himself which he succeeded

“I've got a girl.” Harry announced proudly and Jack's eyes widened in surprise. He surely didn't expect to hear that.

“You're kidding right?” he asked in belief. Harry was one of the biggest playboys he had ever known. While he was dating his ex girlfriend, Harry was known as the biggest playboy in Los Angeles. He had tried to make him become one with no success until she finally broke his heart and he became the cold hearted billionaire he was today.

“I kid you not, my bro.” he replied, the big grin still on his face. “I met this beautiful girl three months ago, she swept me off my feet and we are celebrating two months together next week.” He answered with a proud smile on his face.

“Wow,” Jack exclaimed after regaining his voice.

“Are you sure it's love?” he asked, going back into the kitchen while his friend stared at his retreating figure.
