Jake

She’s walking away, and I can’t do a damn thing about it.

Anastasia doesn’t even glance back. Not once. She walks like she’s got a fire under her skin, like the war is already pulling her in. Like nothing else exists right now except what needs to be done.

I get it. That’s who she is. Fierce, focused, unstoppable.

Always locked in, always a few steps ahead. She carries herself like the world owes her nothing, like she’s ready to burn it down if she has to. And I love that about her. Every part of it.

But hell, it still rips me apart.

It’s like she’s taking my heart with her, one step at a time, and all I can do is stand there and let it happen. My fists curl at my sides, not from anger, but from how damn helpless I feel.

Then she disappears past the trees.

Gone.

My breath catches. Pain cuts through my chest, sharp and deep, like I just got hit by something I didn’t see coming. My wolf howls inside me, wild and furious, like he’s being torn away from his mate. He claws at me, sna

  • Blind Alpha And His Unwanted Mate   Chapter 89

AnastasiaI force myself to stop. My feet itch to move, to follow the pull that's humming through my chest like a low drumbeat I can’t shut off, but I freeze and spin on my heel instead. My eyes scan the camp. I need to make sure no one follows me.Most of them are caught up in their own stuff, but a couple heads turn my way when I stood up as if they expect me to order them.“I’m just gonna check around the camp, make sure everything’s in place. Then I’m heading to my tent.” My voice comes out firm. A few people nod. Someone mutters a distracted “Okay.” No one questions it. Good. The last thing I need right now is someone tagging along.I walk off, keeping my pace normal even though everything in me wants to run toward that pull. It’s messing with me. It’s him. I know it. There’s no other explanation for why every inch of me is buzzing like I’ve just had five cups of coffee.Jake better not be here. He really, really better not.Because if he is, I don’t know what I’m gonna do fi

AnastasiaI push open the flap of the tent, needing some air, only to see Ethan stomping toward me like a bull seeing red. His jaw's clenched, fists tight at his sides as he comes straight in my direction."Who the hell do you think you are to order my men around here?" he snaps, voice loud enough to turn heads.I don’t flinch. Don’t even blink. I raise an eyebrow, bored more than anything else. The anger rolling off him doesn't bother me, but I do wonder what made him finally drop the flirtatious act. Guess he figured if he couldn’t get into my pants, he’d switch tactics.Show teeth instead of dimples.Should I tell him that I never liked dimples? Especially not his. They looks more like a scar from a pimple. Maybe I will not say anything, keep my mean side to me, just for now."Your men?" I ask, tilting my head just a little. "Last I checked, they’re hunters. Not someone’s bitch."A low murmur ripples through the crowd behind him. People are starting to gather, eyes darting between

AnastasiaOne of the things I hate the most in this world is waiting.I don’t mean the kind of mild irritation people get in a long line or when traffic won’t move. No, I hate it. Like, full-body, teeth-grinding, soul-eating kind of hate. Mom always jokes that I hated it so much I didn’t even bother waiting the full nine months before popping into existence. Seven months in, I apparently decided, “Yep, that’s enough,” and made my grand entrance. And now, here I am, doing the exact thing I hate the most.Waiting.Because I need to contact Pete. That slippery little coward is still holed up at the base while the hunters here are still messing with their equipment, trying to get a proper line up and running. I swear it’d be faster if they just pulled out a bunch of soup cans and some string.Sometimes I wonder why they don’t just switch to regular smartphones like normal human beings. Imagine that. A world where I could shoot Pete a message like “Hey loser, meet me outside the base. I ha

Jake“Jake, what is happening?” Sophia’s voice cuts in as she grabs my arm and gives it a little shake, trying to pull me out of whatever zone I’ve fallen into. “Is she hurt or something?”I don’t answer right away. I close my eyes and block everything else out. The wind, the quiet hum of people talking behind me, even my own racing thoughts, I push them all aside. I zero in on Anastasia. On the thread that ties me to her, faint but still there, like a heartbeat just out of reach.Fuck, I wish I could mind-link her. If I could just talk to her, reach into her head and hear her voice, I’d know for sure what’s going on. But I can’t. And that makes me feel like I’m walking blind with my fists out. It’s driving me crazy. All I’ve got to hold onto is what I feel from her. Her emotions are what keep me from losing them.So I try again. I tune in, the way I’ve done a few times before, even if I don’t fully get how it works. It’s like reaching through water. Slow. Hard to grasp. But sometimes

  • Blind Alpha And His Unwanted Mate   Chapter 83

AnastasiaJust like we planned, I sneak away from the border patrol, keeping low and quiet as I move through the trees. As I cross the edge of our territory, I catch Irvin and one of the warriors, Yancy’s eyes. They don’t say a word, just give me a quick nod. Nothing big, nothing dramatic. Just enough to let me know they see me and they’re with me. Just like everyone else who pretends as if they didn't even notice someone sneaking out of the pack. I don’t stop. I don’t look back. I just keep my head down and keep moving. The path toward the troops is rough and mostly quiet, except for the wind rustling the branches and the crunch of dry leaves under my boots. My mind’s racing, not with fear, but with focus. The area I’m heading toward is the one we marked earlier, making it look like a weak spot in the pack's defenses. This is the place from which I send them a signal. It’s bait.Because we’ve filled this whole area with our wolves. Hidden. Watching. Waiting.Pete and his men are sur
