6. Willow/Luca: Blind Spot.

Luca dashed out of the dining room into the hallway, he was walking way too fast, he couldn't be blind. He saw me that night, he gave me a job, he picked me up, he opened the car door for me, he could tell when I was staring at him even with his eyes closed, he walked into this house himself, he had stared at me directly without missing my eyes, his mother must be blabbering.

"Luca, wait!" I ran after him, somehow I was scared he was going to fall if his mother turned out to be right.

"Go home, Mousey, dinner's over!" He walked into a room and slammed the door. I stopped, taken aback by his rage.

"Luca..."I knocked on the door. "Luca, listen to me, please," I said softly as tears gathered in my eyes. I didn't understand why I was being emotional for a werewolf monster with family problems that I met in twenty-four hours.

Luca was different, I could see it, he was more humane than the rest of his group.

"Your family don't know what they're talking about. They're so deep-rooted into your wolf tradition that they don't want to listen to your ideas. You're not useless, Luca"

The house is silent, Luca does not say a word.

"And they obviously don't know the meaning of blind" I muttered.

The door opened and Luca was staring back at me with his human face, I felt butterflies once again for this stranger. I searched through his eyes looking for a blind spot, but I saw none. He was perfect, gorgeous...

"My mother is right." He forced a chuckle. "I'm blind, Mousey "

There was no reason for my heart to skip, yet it did.

"No, you're not. You can see me, Luca. I know you can."

"I can smell you, Mousey. I can feel you..." His hand reached out to me and I took it. He held me softly, I didn't want to let go. "Registering everyone's scent makes it easier for me to know who's before me"

"So...you... didn't necessarily...see me that night and now?"

"Busted" he smiled. His eyes were fixed on me, his eyeballs were moving, and he could blink...

"You're lying, Luca." I failed to believe this man could not see me in front of him.

"Sometimes, I don't believe it myself."

"You know your way, you walk without directions, you don't ask for help..."

"I am not human, Mousey. I have ten times the ability humans possess. I sense objects around me, heavy or light, I smell pain, fear, lies, and happiness. I know where to turn to if anyone stands before me..."

"You can do everything..."

"Not everything. You heard my mother. I am nothing without them"

"They just envy you." I spat, disgusted at the scene that unfolded earlier.

"Maybe they do. Maybe they don't. No matter how good I am with my other senses, I would never outdo the function of an eye. For example..." He moved closer to me, so close that my breathing seized and I could not focus on any other thing but him. "The color of your dress or the way you packed your hair. I can sense if you're happy but I can't see your smile"

"I'm scared, Mousey," he said softly, his breath close to my nose I can inhale every of his sweet smell, but that wasn't just it. Luca was vulnerable to me, this monster was loosening up to me, breaking all of his strong defenses. This man that people feared was being soft and emotional with me.

"All my life, I've been strong, making sure people saw me as Alpha Luca and not Blind Alpha Luca Carver. They've all looked for ways to prove to me how seeing is important."

A tear fell from his perfectly greyed eyes and I gasped. He was being soft, making me very emotional.

"I want someone who will let me see the world from a new perspective. I want to have fun, Mousey"

He wrapped his hands around my waist and goosebumps filled my skin. I felt hot as he embraced me, his scent covering all of my body, I embraced him carelessly feeling the moment. It felt like I had known him for so long.

"Please be my eyes, Mousey" he whispered in my ears, tingles sizzling down my system. "I knew you were special when I met you, my wolf warmed up to you instantly. Stay beside me always, guide me, protect me" he said.

His words were hitting me so hard, but I was not in the position to do all that, I could not protect him, I could not be around him and be his eyes. He needed someone better, stronger, someone he could trust wholeheartedly.

We were strangers. It's just been twenty-four hours.

What does being his eyes mean? I have to be with him all the time and see things he didn't see. He would only believe anything I tell him if I were his eyes. That's a lot of trust to put on a stranger.

"I can't." I pulled away from him. "I'm sorry Luca, I can't be that person." I looked up at him. His countenance had changed, he looked disappointed and angry he had opened up to me. "I need to go." I stormed out of his house immediately.

My heart ached. Get a grip on yourself, Willow, you can't have a sentimental attachment to a monster.

_______________

Luca Carver's Pov

With each step Mousey took, her sound faded, becoming fainter and more distant. The air around me grew still, as her scent drifted away.

I heard howls of laughter in the dining room and I walked back there. The familiar scent of my family filled the air and I felt a sense of solace and belonging.

"That was epic!" I heard Dena's voice and felt her touch as she held my arms, trying to guide me to sit. "She totally fell for it!" Dena was still laughing.

"Humans are fools," Agopa chimed in, the sounds of crunching and gnawing filling the air. I knew that they were enjoying their meal, and I felt content to be in their company.

"Humans are naive, sentimental, emotional, and innocent," I corrected, a smirk curling on my lips as I thought of Mousey. Unlike us werewolves, who perceived lies from a distance, Mousey couldn't differentiate between the truth and a cooked-up script Dena wrote for me to get her sympathy.

Mousey was the only glozike who had not been frightened away by the revelation of my true form, and I knew that she was the key to regaining my eyesight. But first, I had to gain her trust and win her over, so that she would consent to the next part of the ritual. It was a tricky balance, and I knew that I had to tread carefully.

I wanted her! Wanted her light!

But she wasn't like the other ladies I've met, she wasn't jumping all over me to get laid, she seemed to be a lover girl and the only way was to pierce through her weak human heart and make her feel I was vulnerable. Women always felt the need to protect a delicate, soft, and sweet man. If I keep up the act, in a few days I'll get Mousey laid.

"This is the closest we've been to the Crown" Dena squealed in excitement.

"And in few days…Luca gets his eyesight, takes the crown, and restores all that he lost," Agopa added.

"If you knew Willow was the prey, you shouldn't have mentioned our real name in front of her" Buda groaned in displeasure. She earlier pretended to be my mother when Mousey was here. She was the oldest wolf amongst us, close to the mother figure she acted. "What if she finds out we're not family?"

"But we're family, Buda" Dena interrupted and I heard Buda make a low growl. "Luca found us at our worst times and brought us together, what does family mean to you, Buda?"

"My only family is dead. We all met by circumstances. This is not even a real pack!" Buda charged.

"How ungrateful. Luca should have left you all alone in that ditch till you couldn't breathe." Agopa barked.

"That would have been great!" Buda said bitterly. " I could smell anger from Dena as she began to approach Buda.

"Dena. Buda. It's okay." I cut in. Buda was the newest in my new pack so I understood that she didn't feel like a family yet.

"I will not tolerate fighting amongst the pack," my tone was harsh. "And you all know what happens when I'm agitated…" These were my subjects and I will not tolerate any disobedience.

"We're sorry, Alpha." They all chorused.

"I'll go through the plan again, if you have ears, listen carefully." I started to address them.

"Willow is the only glozike who is not scared of me. She is my prey. I need her to get my eyesight and for that to happen she needs to trust and love me completely. This is why I got you all involved, the scene today would cause her weak heart to have sympathy toward me and when she starts to see me differently it will be easy to get her laid. Understood?"

"We understand, Alpha."

My eyes glistened with menace. " You would lay low at the pack house. Out of sight. Willow mustn't come across you again. To her, you're my awful family. When I finally get her laid, we'll go on with the plan of stealing the Crown of Canines. Understood?"

"Yes, Alpha." They chorused.
