CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

Irina's POV

Alexei's voice was cold and final as he gave the order, his face showed no emotion, no mercy at all.

"Execute them," he said calmly, like he was ordering dinner. "In front of everyone, let them all see what happens to traitors."

The guard's face went pale, all color drained from his skin. He fell to his knees immediately, his whole body was shaking.

"Please, boss, please, I am sorry. It will never happen again, I swear on my life."

The maid was sobbing uncontrollably. Her whole body was shaking with fear, tears and snot were running down her face. "Please, Master Alexei, please have mercy, we were just... we were just..."

"Just what?" Alexei asked coldly, his voice was like ice. "Just disrespecting me? Just breaking my rules? Just betraying my trust? Just maki

CHAPTER FIFTY-ONEIrina's POVThe days passed slowly at the bakery.Marina and Roberto were very kind to me. They treated me like family. They made sure I was comfortable and well-fed.But they barely let me out of the house."It is for your safety," Marina would say whenever I asked to go outside. "Mikhail made it very clear, you must stay hidden. You must not step outside. Whatever you need will be brought to you."So I spent my days inside, helping in the bakery when I could, reading books, and staring out the window. The only bright spot was Carlo, their son.He was a sweet little boy and always curious. He would come up to my room and talk to me for hours. Telling me about his day at school. How he made new friends. How he saw a stray dog and took it in

CHAPTER FIFTYDimitriMy captor led me out of the study and down another long hallway. My mind was still reeling from everything I had just learned. I was a mafia lord. A dangerous criminal. I had a twin brother who had wronged me, and there was a woman I loved but could not remember."This will be your room," The man said, stopping in front of a large wooden door.He pushed it open and I stepped inside. The room was enormous, bigger than the entire restaurant where I had been working. There was a king-sized bed with silk sheets, a massive wardrobe, a sitting area with leather sofas, and large windows overlooking the estate grounds.Everything was luxurious, expensive, and perfect."All of this is mine?" I asked quietly, amused that a man could own something like this. But my heart sank because it

CHAPTER FORTY-NINEIrina's POVThe car drove for hours through the night, leaving the city far behind.I watched through the window as buildings became smaller, as streets became narrower, as lights became fewer. We were going somewhere rural, somewhere quiet, somewhere far from everything I knew.My tears had dried up finally, I had no more tears left to cry, I just felt empty inside. The baby kicked suddenly. It kicked strongly against my ribs, reminding me that I was not alone.I placed my hand on my stomach gently. "I am sorry," I whispered. "I am sorry I could not give you a better life."Mikhail sat across from me in silence, he had not spoken since our last conversation. His face was unreadable, cold, like always.

CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHTDimitriI stood there frozen, staring at all the guards bowing before me, their voices was still echoing in the grand hall."Welcome back, boss." I whispered.Boss? I was their boss? I was a mafia don?My mind was spinning, trying to process everything, trying to understand what this meant.A criminal, I was a criminal. A leader of criminals, someone who probably hurt people, and killed people. My hands started shaking. I looked down at them, these hands that knew how to fight, how to hurt, how to kill. What had I done with these hands? How many people had I hurt?"One step at a time," My captor’s voice cut through my panic. He placed a hand on my shoulder firmly, his grip was strong, grounding me to reality."Come," he said, lead

CHAPTER FORTY-SIXDimitri's POVThey brought me food three times a day.Breakfast was usually bread and eggs, lunch was rice and vegetables, dinner was meat and potatoes. The food was good, better than I expected, and there was always plenty of water. But I was not satisfied, I was not comfortable. I wanted to leave this basement. The walls felt like they were closing in on me. The air felt thick and heavy, I could not breathe properly down here.Every time the guards came with food, I tried to talk to them, I tried to ask them to let me out."Please," I would say. "I need to leave this place, I need fresh air, I need to see the sun."But they never answered, they just set down the food and water and left without a word.It was like talking to walls, like they could not

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN Irina's POV I stared at Mikhail, completely shocked. My mind was trying to process what he just said. Dimitri was alive, Dimitri was safe, and he had him. Relief flooded through me so powerfully that tears started falling down my face immediately. "He is alive," I whispered, my voice breaking. "He is really alive." "Yes," Mikhail said simply. Even though Dimitri did not remember me, even though he had amnesia, him being alive was enough. It was more than enough, it was everything. "Take me to him," I said quickly, leaning forward in my seat. "Please, I need to see him." "No," Mikhail said flatly. "Please," I begged. "I need to see him, I need to know he is okay."
