Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Crashing Waves
At dawn, Jack wrapped his arms around me from behind and leaned in to kiss the side of my face, just like he always did. But I instinctively turned away.

"I haven't brushed my teeth yet," I said, my voice dry as I came up with an excuse.

Jack paused for a split second, yet he didn't think much of it. Instead, he ruffled my hair affectionately.

"Alright, whatever you say. Come on, get up. There's an important meeting today. You have to come with me."

As he spoke, he got out of bed and began dressing. His tone was gentle as he added, "You're my Luna, so you need to be present for every major decision in the pack."

I stared at his tall, imposing figure and felt a wave of nausea.

There was a time when those words had filled me with comfort and pride. Now, they were nothing but mockery.

When we arrived at the pack's council hall, several Elders were already waiting. Jack took my hand and led me toward the highest seats reserved for the Alpha and Luna.

Halfway through the meeting, Jack gestured to one of his subordinates, who projected a document onto the large screen. It was the quarterly sales report for the border trading post.

Jack then rose to his feet. Wearing a serious expression, he announced, "Elders, please take a look. Clothing sales at the border post achieved an astonishing increase this quarter, tripling from the previous figures."

He pointed at the spiking line on the screen, his voice booming as he added, "Grace deserves most of the credit. She's the one in charge."

At that, the Elders exchanged glances and whispered among themselves.

Jack scanned the room before raising his voice. "Grace has demonstrated exceptional business talent. Leaving her at the border would be a waste of talent.

"I propose bringing her back to headquarters as Head of Trade, overseeing all our external dealings."

The moment he finished speaking, the council hall fell silent. Everyone knew how important the Head of Trade position was. Traditionally, it had always been held by the pack's most experienced members.

Besides, Grace was merely an Omega who had joined the pack a year ago. She barely had any experience.

But with Jack's authority as Alpha, and the seemingly flawless numbers backing him up, no one dared to object.

I looked at Jack's strictly professional expression and felt my stomach churn.

I knew he had only made up an excuse to bring that lowly Omega back to his side, so they could keep sleeping together whenever they wanted.

I couldn't stand listening to his hypocrisy anymore. "Excuse me. I need the restroom."

With that, I rose to my feet and hurried out of the suffocating room.

I had just stepped into the stall and shut the door when I heard two she-wolves whispering outside. They worked in the pack's finance department and handled the accounts.

"Grace's sales figures are completely fake. Most of the orders were shipped to invalid addresses, and some were sent straight to private warehouses under Alpha Jack's name," one of them said.

The other gasped. "Oh my gosh! Does that mean—"

"Keep your voice down!" the first she-wolf whispered urgently. "Do you think they can't tell? Alpha Jack even used his own money to cover the gap just so he could bring her back legitimately. Who knows what kind of spell Grace has him under to make him favor her this much?"

"Poor Luna Ivy… She's still in the dark, thinking the Alpha is doing all this for the good of the pack…"

Their voices gradually faded as they walked away.

I leaned against the cold stall divider, my body icy as my nails dug into my palms.

So, that was it. For that she-wolf, Jack hadn't just lied to me. He had gone as far as to deceive the entire pack.

My wolf roared in my mind, demanding to tear that wretched pair apart.

I took a deep breath and forced down the anger burning in my chest.

After that, I returned to the council hall just in time to hear Jack make his final confirmation. "Does anyone have any objection to this appointment?"

Silence enveloped the room as no one dared to speak.

At that moment, Jack turned toward me, and I caught a flicker of barely concealed tension in his eyes. "What do you think, Ivy?"

I met his gaze. "Since the Alpha himself says she's such a rare talent, then of course we should bring her back and make the most of her abilities."

Jack's expression faltered for a brief moment. He seemed to sense something in my tone, but quickly hid it.

"Great! Since Luna Ivy agrees, it's settled."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the doors of the council hall swung open.

Grace walked in, wearing a tailored suit and high heels. She looked as though she already knew the outcome.

As she passed Jack, her fingers subtly brushed across the back of his hand. Then, she looked at me, her eyes gleaming with undisguised provocation and triumph.

Three days later, I stood on a slope overlooking the barren borderlands between the two territories. There, I watched as the Elders of the Nightfall pack trembled while they dragged Jack forward and dropped him at my feet. Jack struggled in the snow before lifting his head, revealing a face caked in mud. When his eyes met mine, I caught a faint, ridiculous hope lingering there. "Ivy… You cut off every path I had and forced my pack members to turn against me."You did all this just so you could keep me alive, didn't you? You still don't want me dead. If you forgive me and take me back, I'll give you everything I have. I'll even be your slave!"Beside me, Benjamin frowned with disgust. Then, he pulled the knife from his belt and handed it to me. I took the knife and crouched slowly, tapping the tip against Jack's cheek. "Jack, my wolf told me you betrayed me for a lowly Omega."My voice was soft, but my gaze grew colder with each word. "Now, you'll see what happens to those wh

After returning to the Silvermoon pack, Jack's fate no longer crossed my mind. Once revenge was taken, the weight lifted from my chest, and my thoughts sharpened. With my father backing me completely, I stepped up to take full control of the Silvermoon pack. My first move was to impose an economic blockade on the Nightfall pack, cutting off several of their supply lines. At the same time, Benjamin sent the Hoar Frost pack's finest warriors to the border, where they set up a strict blockade. He also sent a warning of the highest order to every northern pack. "Any secret dealings with the Nightfall pack would be treated as an open declaration of war against both the Hoar Frost and Silvermoon packs."Under the joint assault of the two most powerful packs, the Nightfall pack fell into an unprecedented crisis in just a month.Grumbling and anger rippled through the Nightfall pack. At this critical juncture, Grace—who had been driven out of the villa by Jack—didn't share the pack's

In the Silvermoon pack's hall, I sat at a wooden table while Dad guided me through the basics of running the pack. After forcibly severing the mate bond, I lay unconscious in bed for three full days. When I woke, every memory I had of Jack had vanished. Dad told me it was the price of severing the mate bond and also a blessing from the Moon Goddess. Forgetting that scumbag was the best fresh start I could have hoped for. Now, the only thing I knew was that I was Ivy Blackwood, the heir of the Silvermoon pack. Even my long-standing aversion to cold had improved greatly under the pack healer's care. Just then, my older brother, Kevin Blackwood, pushed open the door, walked in, and ruffled my hair affectionately. "Are you tired?" he asked. "Benjamin just got back from the hunting grounds. He caught your favorite snow hare. He's skinning it and roasting it for you right now."The words had barely left his mouth when Benjamin walked into the hall carrying a platter of roasted m

On the night of the full moon hunt, Jack stood atop a high ridge. When he glanced down at Grace beside him, he imagined her as I once had been. I would run beside him through the dense forest, our howls echoing through the night. With sheer strength, I would silence the Elders who dared to question him. "Don't make a fool of yourself. This is your chance to prove you belong," Jack warned Grace in a low voice. Once the full moon reached its zenith, waves of howls echoed across the valley. Grace shifted into a small, black wolf and shrank beneath Jack's towering wolf form, shivering uncontrollably. From the surrounding wolves, who had stood in solemn silence just moments before, came snickers and mocking whispers. The derisive chuckles grated on Jack, setting his blood boiling. The image of my wolf form came unbidden into his mind. I was a massive white wolf, and when I ran, I looked like moonlight flowing through the dark.In countless full moon hunts, I had drawn awed and

Jack woke up with a start in the middle of the night and instinctively reached out beside him. Whenever he got hurt or woke from a nightmare, the faintest whimper was usually enough to wake me.I would hand him a glass of water and gently massage his temples until he drifted back to sleep. "Ivy…" Jack mumbled groggily. Then, the sharp scent of floral perfume hit his nose. Only then did he realize I was gone. In that instant, a crushing sense of loss surged through him. There was even a trace of self-loathing he refused to acknowledge.Grace had clearly heard the name he'd called and immediately pouted. "Jack, were you calling for Ivy just now? Do you regret sending her away?"At that, Jack patted her bare back. "Don't be ridiculous. I just had a nightmare."To hide the unease gnawing at him, he deliberately changed the subject. "Are you getting used to living here? Once the trouble Ivy caused dies down, I'll speak with the Elder Council and start preparing for our marking c

Two weeks later, the Nightfall pack hosted a crucial trade summit. Jack had received word that Austin Blackwood, Alpha of the Silvermoon pack—the strongest pack in the north—would be attending the meeting himself. He was convinced that if the Nightfall pack earned the Silvermoon pack's support, their strength would double. …Early that morning, I was organizing the meeting materials when Jack walked over. "Your only job today is to take minutes," he said. "Don't say a word in the conference room. Grace will present the proposal."He stared straight into my eyes, his voice heavy with warning as he added, "Don't offend Alpha Austin of the Silvermoon pack. This isn't the place for you to throw tantrums."I didn't argue, but a cold, mocking smile tugged at my lips. …At 10:00 am, two werewolves pushed open the conference room doors. Dad strode in, and Jack rushed forward, grinning obsequiously. "Honored Alpha Austin of the Silvermoon pack, we welcome you to the Nightfall pac
