If I was making her uncomfortable, she made no effort to hide it. The moment I occupied a spot next to her on the bed, she began scooting away. I rolled my eyes at her ridiculous act. It was not like I would eat her alive.

Once she was at a ‘safe’ distance, Kayla peeked up at me from under her long lashes, as though she expected me to pounce on her any moment now.

“Tell me how you ended up at Bradford’s place” I asked, ignoring the invisible wall she had erected between us. I wanted her to be comfortable with me but I didn’t know how to achieve it. She blew the only chance I gave her. But the fact that she could even assume that she would be able to escape from here on nothing but bare feet was pretty stupid in the first place.

“Answer me if you want to be free; Or else we will stay locked for a week” I threatened when she remained unresponsive. Her face paled at my words.

Of course I was kidding, but I knew she would take it seriously.

“I-I’ll answer” came her instant reply.
