Jane’s POV

I was so furious, I could feel my body steaming.

That was the only thing that mattered to him—His child. Not me, never me.

Every reason he ever found to hurt me, every cruel word, every cold look, it always came back to the same excuse—His child. As if I was nothing more than a vessel carrying something precious, while I myself was disposable.

I clenched my fists at my sides, forcing myself to breathe. The only reason I was agreeing to go with him today was because of his mother. She

Jane's POV.The drive to the court was quiet. John was driving steadily, not in a rush. And then it happened. How it happened, I still couldn't understand it. The car just capsided. Not just our car, a lot of cars were jammed with each other, most of them damaged badly. John was injured, a cut deep in his left leg, bleeding profusely. And me? I was alright, except I felt light, and a scratch grazed my left hand. We were rushed to the nearest hospital by the parademics in an ambulance. I was fine by the time I got to the hospital, but since they all think I'm Adrian Blackwood's wife, they forced me on priority care. "You go nowhere," Adrian's voice rang in the space between us. "You just got involved in an accident, how can you leave immediately?"I scoffed, "like you care." "I do!" He retorted. Of course, for one sole reason— his child. I ignored him, straightened my robe, picked up my wig and bag from the bed, ready to leave. Adrian rose from the bed where he sat, facing me w

Adrian’s POV.I was buried in work, the silence of my study the only thing keeping my thoughts from spiraling until the door burst open with a loud thud. I looked up sharply… and froze. Both of them? Why were they here?"Why do you look like you've just seen a ghost?" Mom asked, narrowing her eyes at me.That snapped me out of it."Good morning, Mom," I said, forcing composure into my voice. "Dad."He didn’t return the greeting. Instead, his gaze hardened. “Where’s your wife?”A slight crease formed between my brows. “She’s in the house, I assume.”“We’ve searched everywhere,” Mom cut in sharply. “She’s not in the bedroom, not in the guestroom, not downstairs. Nowhere.”Something in my chest shifted. "She’s… not home?" I asked, more to myself than to them.Dad shook his head slowly, while mom scoffed, folding her arms. “You don’t know where your pregnant wife is, and you call yourself a responsible husband?”I clenched my jaw. “I—” My phone buzzed on the desk, cutting me off, flashing

Jane's POV.I woke up with a stinging sensation in my eyes, my head banging like it would blow up in the next second. I pressed my hand to my forehead, it was burning, with a severe pain shooting through. I slowly, and carefully pushed myself up to sit, last night's event came rushing in my head. The wedding anniversary celebration, the verbal exchange between me and Adrian when we returned home, every word rang in my head. "If I had a choice, I'd have gotten rid of you a long time ago," this particular sentence replayed in my head countless times, reminding me how wrongly I had chosen for love. I should cry again, but my tears are all dried up now. I had cried all my tears last night that there was none left to cry anymore. The door opened, and Adrian walked in with a tray in his hands. Seeing him made my heart twist and harden at the same time. He walked to me and set the tray on the bed very close to where I sat. "The doctor said you need to eat breakfast early and take your

Adrian's POV.I was tired. I was so fucking tired about the back and forth of everything. I dropped her on the floor in our bedroom, and I turned to leave the bedroom. I needed to clear my head, to think of what next because at this point, I'm at a crossroads. As my hand grazed the door handle, she spoke, "are you satisfied?" I turned."Are you satisfied now?" She asked, but I ignored her, still attempting to leave the bedroom but she was hellbent on making me stay."After making me look like someone who's sick to the whole world...are you satisfied?!!" She yelled, her voice trembling."Because that's what you are!" I yelled in response, turning to face her again. She jolted, not expecting my outburst. "You are emotionally unstable and that's why you keep making reckless decisions! You keep taking extremely wrong actions that leaves everyone in a fallout!" I yelled. "It's not everyone that's in a fallout, it is you who's in a fallout!" She yelled back."Yes!" I admitted. "You kee

Jane's POV.His words at Ethan provoked me, he was really mannerless. I tried to tell him he was wrong, trying to tell him that influence or power doesn't solve anything, and all he did was silence me? That too, in the most annoying way ever? Again he was trying to use the situation to his own gain which hurt me more than I had expected it to, and provoked me more than I thought it would. The crowd was cheering for us, happy for the sight he sold to them, wrapped in deceit. He finally pulled away, looking into my eyes like he was searching for something. But whatever he was looking for, I was sure it wasn't what I was about to give to him.My hand moved before I could fully think, flying across his cheek, sending his face to the opposite direction. An echo of gasps rippled through the crowd, everything going to a still as everyone tried to comprehend what had just happened, everyone including me. He finally turned, facing me with his hand still on his cheek that I had struck. His

Adrian's POV.Finally, we were doing the one thing we shouldn't do, celebrating a marriage that already ended. But tonight... tonight she sent shockwaves rippling through me each time I set my eyes on her. She was looking so stunning that I had to ask myself if she was the same Jane I've been with for three years or if it was someone else. She was a beautiful woman no doubts, I knew that. But tonight... tonight she was a different kind of beauty. I opened the car door, and stepped out on the red carpet spread out on the floor. Giving her my hand that she took reluctantly, she stepped out too. The moment the crowd caught sight of us, there was an outburst of screams, all attention turned to us, cameras flashing at us, paparazzi gathering us as we walked. I looked at Jane and she wore a smile on her face. Thank goodness, she was cooperating. I kept a straight face, I wasn't used to smiling broadly. But I wasn't frowning though, I looked happy and presentable. We reached the inside

Adrian's POV. I couldn't get my mind off the gibberish Marcus dropped here today. There was Jane to deal with, and now him? They're really a family of trouble. To wrap my mind around what is truly going on, I need my copy of the contract. With it not being here in my office, there were just two p
