The Woman from Korea

"Are you hurt, Huh?” Cassian said standing at the doorway and scanning me from head to toe.

I was so dumbfounded. My phone fell from my hands and hit the floor between us and Cassian picked it up and read the screen.

His face changed and his calmness vanished as soon as he started reading the message on my phone.

“Who sent this?” He asked calmly.

“I.. I don't know,” I whispered. “I feel like they knew things about you. About Korea”.

Cassian looked at me for a while and said

“Come with me”.

I followed him without asking any questions.

“You didn't tell me everything”, I said softly.

“You are right”. Cassian admitted.

He poured himself a drink but didn't offer me one. He told me that Korea was supposed to be a chapter that was buried.

“There was a business expansion and strategic alliance”. He said.

“A woman?” I asked and he nodded.

He told me the woman was Yura Han and my heart skipped. I felt a sting of jealousy.

He told me that Yura Han wasn't just his girlfriend but she was chosen by his father.

“She was meant to be my wife”.

Everything blurred and I gripped the edge of the desk to steady myself.

“But did you marry her?”

I asked.

“No.” He answered.

He told me how controlling, obsessive and calculated Yura was and how she monitored his calls, movements and emotions.

Yura didn't love Cassian. She just wanted to own him.

While we were still talking, a message entered my phone and my heart started skipping beats again. Cassian looked at me in curiosity.

“He didn't tell you that I have his ring.”

My vision became blurry.

Another message came in.

“Ask him why he ran the night I bled”.

It was then that my face dropped. Tears filled my eyes and Cassian snatched the phone from my hands and his face went pale too.

Cassian quickly told me that she was lying and the speed of his denial made me scared.

I questioned him about the night and he went silent before he finally responded.

He told me that there was an accident and Yura fell down the stairs and told people that he pushed her. His father paid to make it disappear.

Cassian left the whole situation not because he believed he would hurt her but because he saw the power and money running.

There was a knock at the door and Cassian's phone rang.

“Yes?”

“She's here”. The guard said and Cassian froze.

The guard told Cassian that she was at the gate and was carrying documents that she claimed would be a secret Cassian would want to hear.

I just moped in fear and anxiousness of the next thing that would happen.

Outside the compound gates stood Yura. Coldly beautiful and as soon as she saw Cassian, her lips curved into a smile.

“Hello Cassian. Did you miss me?”

She murmured.

“It's been a long time, Cassian”. She said,

My chest tightened when she looked up at me.

She moved her gaze to my stomach and smiled evilly.

“So, this is her.”

Cassian stepped in front of me in the most protective way without even realising it.

“You were told not to come here, Yura”.

He said flatly.

“Hmmmm, please, don't be dramatic, I'm only here to tell the truth”.

I swallowed hard. I wondered why Yura was a troublesome person.

“About what?”Cassian asked quietly.

“Mmmmmh. About the man you are carrying children for”, she said sweetly while walking round us and studying me like a puzzle.

“And the promises he already made long before you even existed”.

“Enough!” Cassian yelled.

She ignored him.

“He never told you why he left Korea huh?

He never told you what he destroyed on his way out”. She said, smiling evilly.

My heart started pounding.

Yura smiled and told me that Cassian walked away from an engagement announced to the press from shareholders and contracts that were signed in blood.

“That's a lie!” Cassina snapped.

“Is it?” She challenged him.

“Or did your father just pay to erase it?”

Yura pulled out a heavy folder and handed it to a guard, who hesitated initially before passing it to Cassian.

Yura kept on staring at me.

“Ask him why he still owns half of my company”. She said with a grin.

“Ask him why my name still appears in his Korean holdings”.

Cassian didn't open the folder and I could see the truth in his eyes. At least part of it.

Cassian urged Yura to leave instead she congratulated me on the twins I was carrying and claimed to know things I thought were private. I was stunned.

“Leave now!” Cassian ordered.

Yura stepped back slowly and unafraid.

She paused and looked at me one more last time and I looked away.

“Enjoy the protection while it lasts”, She said softly.

“Men like him don't choose love”.

She looked at Cassian like she was expecting him to say something.

“They choose legacy”.

Then she entered the car and zoomed off.

Tears filled my eyes as I looked at Cassian.

He really looked at me.

“Is she right?” I said with a shaky voice.

“Huh?”

He stared.
