16. Don't be carried away by his beauty

Vera's point of view:

After packing a few of my clothes, I headed to my friend's house. Nina was slightly shocked to see me with my bag full of clothes.

“Vera, what happened?" She asked. Her face beamed in confusion.

“It's such a long story Nina," I replied and slumped on the couch. “I'm going to stay here for some time until I get a new apartment. I ain't going back to my old apartment."

“Vera!"

I abruptly got startled with the way her voice suddenly turned high. She stood in front of me staring directly into my eyes.

“Vera what have you done?" She asked with a serious countenance, her eyes not leaving mine.

“What?" I'm muddled.

“Are you running from your debtors, what sin have you committed?" She asked with yet a serious tone.

I laughed out loud. She thought I left my apartment because I'm running from debtors. Well, I can't blame her for thinking that way. What other reasons could make me leave my apartment to come stay in hers.

“Vera, answer me!" She squeaks.
