Chapter 4: The Death or Life Situation 

"She's our mate. Please save her," my wolf pleaded urgently. I felt a surge of anger and guilt as someone tried to harm my mate before me.

With remarkable agility, I ran over the man who had succeeded in taking her down and smashed him, which landed with a loud thud on the ground.

“Mate!” My wolf spoke out audibly, and so did hers. But recognizing her face instantly made me feel bad. I know her. She was Iris, a lowly slave of the Crescent Moon Pack. She was an omega, and how could the Moon Goddess mate me with someone like her after all those years of searching?

While contemplating whether to accept her or reject her right here, Cole came over to her again, thereby testing my patience. But this time around, he was dragging her on the ground, as if he had waited for me all those whiles.

I quickly ran away to transition into my wolf form and then into my human form to deal with Cole, who thought he could carry my mate away from me, especially when she's in my pack.

When I got there, he was hitting her mercilessly for not obeying his instructions. I laughed at his actions, knowing he wouldn't even reach me to beat and kill.

“Now get away from her instantly!” I roared at him and quickly rushed him over before he could make a movement.

I smacked him with his face buried on the ground, and instantly at that moment, my eyes caught a rope I could use to tie his hands, which I successfully did, and approached Iris, who was standing behind me.

I noticed how scared she was, how shaking her body was, and so were her teeth, which were clutching to each other, thereby making an audible sound.

“Thank you so much for your help,” she shrugged at me, petrified and about to walk away when I held her hand.

“I haven't saved you yet, my dear. Any moment from now, he will lose this rope and come after you, which I'm certain could result in deaths.”

Hopefully, threatening her with such words should be able to make her submit herself to me and my plans.

“But none of us had to die here either way. You won't die if only you're willing to cooperate with me because nothing comes for free.”

Her countenance changes, giving this remorseful vibe that she's about to do something wrong.

“Although you're my mate, I unfortunately can't be with someone like you, but I can manage you for a while, and we'll pretend to be married for five months. Once the month is over, we'll get divorced, and you'll go your separate ways…”

Iris interrupted my words with a mocking smile plastering around her face like a wound.

“I don't need your help, Charl, or whatever they call you, so go float yourself.” I was deeply hurt by her words and the fact that she called my name as if I was her age mate.

Being hurt by her words, I went to meet Cole, who I had tied, and released him.

“Finish her!” With the two-letter words being said, I took a step forward, sadly with no hope left within me.

Since she can't accept my deal or help, then I have no choice but to watch her getting killed by someone she once served.

I had to decrease my pace when I felt Cole dealing with her. Of course, I felt pains within as I heard her cry, but I have to maintain my pride and stand with my words.

“Stop torturing her, please. Go save her from his wretchedness; if not, he'll rape her in front of you,” my wolf voiced out anger in anger, which I quickly shut down.

“It's not my fault, okay! She doesn't need our help.” I noticed how calm and angry my wolf was, that he no longer said anything but kept quiet. I know he was highly disappointed in me, but I had no choice.

I need to do this for her to agree.

“Please, Charles, I'll agree to the deal. Don't let him kill me.”

Hurriedly, I ran to her, but Cole escaped and ran away the moment he saw that I was coming.

“Did you really agree to my deal, or are you just playing with me? I do hope you're aware there's no going back once you've signed this deal with me?

Reminding her about the terms and conditions was the only thing I could do. I don't want a situation where I'll be asked what she's here to do.

“I do, please. If that's the only way I can be free.” A devilish smile lingered around my lips, knowing my response was the opposite of her question.

“Rule number one: you're to pretend like my mate and do everything you've been asked to, especially when we get married, which will only take five months before the contract will expire.”

“Understood!!!” She nodded with a smile 

“What made you change your mind, you think death is so easily?” 

I held her hand and walked her to the centre pack, where the coronation was still going on. 

Getting there, it seems like Anders hasn't been chosen yet but was about to when the priest saw us and stopped. 

I could see how trembling his hands was the moment he sighted me in seven meters away from him. 

He looked my father Surprise and so was Anders who was already confused and still waiting for him to be crowned. 

I now finally understood his shocked expression the moment I looked into the sky and founds out it has changed from that (RED CRESCENT MOON) to it's original colour.  

“I have already found my mate. She's the one, here.” 

I brought iris before everyone. Leaving them to be pondering in stunned way. 

“Faking someone to be your mate for some days won't gurantee you the Alpha title, Charles. Unfortunately”. Ander taunt at me rudely 

I expected such words from him. He just can't stand the fact that this (ALPHA )title belongs to me and not him. 

“She's his mate Anders, because the curse on him has been broken. She broke the curse on him”. 

The priest uttered, thereby killing Anders more by filling him with such information. 

“If what you're saying is true, then how would you convince us to believe they're truly mated and not faking it?” 

A familiar voice spoke out and on turning back, It was my father. 

“If only he could get married to her the next day, that's the only way I'll believe she's his mate”. 

Ander,my brother spoke out with all form of ser

iousness. Proving my predicaments to be right. 

“I accept the offer. I will get married to her”.
