Chapter 1 : BREAKING FREE

IRIS

I sprang out of bed the moment I felt cold liquid pouring onto my body. My eyes locked with those of Luna Caroline, my master, the one who bought me and brought me back to this pack.

Her eyes were terrifying, scaring the hell out of me.

I quickly knelt down and bowed my head in obeisance, trying to soften her anger. “Good morning, ma'am!”

Raising my head to look at her, I received a thunder slap across my face. Instantly, tears pricked my eyes and threatened to fall, but I gulped them down like a pill. They must not come out. I must not show my weakness to her.

“I’m so sorry, ma'am. Please spare me.”

This was her way of waking me up every morning if she got up before me. Her way of reminding me that she brought me here as a slave and maid rather than as a family member who could sleep peacefully without being disturbed.

“Don’t let this happen again, Iris. I won’t hesitate to throw you out like an animal,” she uttered her usual words. With a sinister smirk, her gaze lingered on my body as if she were looking for something. And then, her gaze finally landed on the dress I was putting on.

“Don’t forget to take off this gown you’re wearing and put on the dress I got for you the other day.”

Oh, did I forget to tell you how she also monitors my clothing and tells me what to wear? I totally understand her reason for doing that.

She had caught me countless times alone with her husband, the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, who always found a way to harass me. But the Moon Goddess always saved me from his evil acts, either by sending her or his son, Cole, to interrupt the scenes.

Obeying her words like the slave I was, I pulled off the gown she had warned me about and put on the baggy clothes she had bought for me. Always.

I sailed out of my room to do the morning chores, hoping Alpha Carson wouldn't see me or that we wouldn't bump into each other.

On my way, I saw Cole, the Alpha's son, and we exchanged pleasantries. Cole was the only one nice to me here, although he had the same intentions as his father. However, Cole's were not as obvious. Cole was in love with me, while Carson, his father, just lusted after my body.

I couldn't blame them, though. I mean, I have the body: big breasts, curvy hips, and a shapely ass. Sometimes I ponder if I'm truly eighteen to be blessed with this mature body. Someone who doesn't know me could mistake me for being in my twenties.

Aside from being blessed with a bosomy body, I'm also beautiful. And I can proudly say I'm the most beautiful girl in the pack. Suitors would have come my way if I weren't a slave. Perhaps I would have seen my mate if I were somebody.

Who would get mated to someone like me? A slave within the Crescent Moon Pack, subject to the rule of Alpha Carson.

I was once a destitute rogue wolf, an outcast abandoned without a home. I was wandering around the city when Luna Caroline discovered me and brought me into the Crescent Moon Pack, but not as an equal—rather as a slave.

Since then, I've dedicated my life to serving them with all forms of loyalty. I've been serving them ever since I was just ten years old. I've been serving them for the past seven years, enduring all the pain and torture they gave me.

But then, that suffering and maltreatment will end today. I finally turned eighteen, but the question is,would they let me leave?

According to what I heard, in other packs a slave Omega is allowed to leave the pack when they reach a certain age or under specific circumstances. This is seen as a rite of passage, and they're free to start up their own life, find a new pack, or live as a lone wolf.

And of course, I will have to escape tonight without their permission. Without their consent.

But the question is, where will I go? Will other packs accept me as their member?

Perhaps it'll be better if I could find my mate tonight.

I giggled at the thought of this, my face lighting up with smiles and overwhelmed with happiness. I loved this feeling.

I finished my chores after setting the family dinner. I went to Caroline's room and called her attention to the already served food, including Cole, who thanked me and came out for dinner.

Now the only person left was Alpha Carson. I have to inform him that dinner was served.

The slight smile on my face suddenly faded away, and a spirit of fear ran through my body the moment I knocked on his door, my hands shaking. “Oh, Moon Goddess!” I sighed deeply.

“Come in!” His croaky voice echoed in, making me tremble more.

“Th...the dinner is served,” I stuttered, with sweat running down my face. My heart beat fast as I prayed he would just let me go.

“I know, Iris. Come inside, or didn’t you hear that part?”

Right then, I froze, my heart leaving my chest. “Oh, Moon Goddess, I can't do this.” I clutched my hands together, walking around while still contemplating whether I should go in or just run away now that I had the chance.

“Go inside, Iris. If you try escaping now, you'll be caught. Let's hear what he has to say.”

A soft, gentle voice spoke to me from nowhere in particular, and I turned back, trying to detect whose voice I just heard.

“Hi, Iris! I'm your wolf, Arister. I'm inside you.”

The soft gentle voice rasped in again, and that was when I realized who it was. My wolf!!! My wolf had finally bloomed after two years of my first shift.

I won't be alone anymore. I won't feel lonely anymore because my wolf will be here to guide me. influence my emotions, and encourage me to act instead of holding back.

“Don't show him you're scared. challenge him this time, you're no longer the slave they wanted or knew, not anymore.”

My wolf advised, giving me a beacon of hope and confidence.

I let out a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I shouldn't face him looking scared, like my wolf said.

Finally, I opened the door and slid it back slowly

When I got inside the room, he wasn't there. Could it be he's hiding?

“ Alpha Carson. What do you want?” My voice roared out with great intensity and command.

“How are you doing, Iris?” His voice freaked me out the moment I realised he was standing behind me. I didn't spot him when I entered.

“You would have lived a normal life other than being a slave and maid if you had obeyed my commands and instructions, Iris,” he bellowed with rage, his hands reaching for my hair, , which I brushed off with disdain.

“Yes, I am a maid, but I am still a pack member. Please show me some respect. You don't want me to report this to Luna, right?”

Over the years I've been here, Carson had bullied me lots of times and tried to harass me countless times, which I have been keeping quiet about and acting all foolish, but not today.

I won't entertain that same behaviour. Not on my birthday. Not when I have fully become an adult. My wolf made me realise who I was. She made me realise even as a slave Omega, I need to stand up for myself.

He pulled me by my hair, dragging me when he could no longer stand my behaviour.

“Do something, Iris. You shouldn't let him have his way around you. Not anymore,” my wolf voiced out in anger, thereby giving me more audacity.

Please stop! I say STOP!" I slapped him in the face, arranging my messy hair, which had been scattered by him.

For the first time, I saw fear in his eyes. His countenance showed disappointment and disbelief. I could tell he was shocked by my actions. Of course, he didn't think the slave he had been controlling all these years could wake up one day and challenge him.

I loved this. I loved the expression on his face. I loved the fact that I was able to challenge him for the first time. It felt so good knowing that his ego was down.

“I am not your slave. You don't get to treat me like this just because I am serving in your house! It's Luna who brought me here, not you, Alpha Carson!”

“I'll make sure I kill you today, Iris. Just watch.” I trembled in fear the moment I heard the unpleasant words coming from his mouth. And then he goes, probably looking for something he could use on me.

“Anyone there?! Please help me!!” I realised I had to call for help because there was no way I could fight this man on my own.

And he might end up beating me to death just like he had claimed.

He successfully found what he was looking for as he walked towards me and raised something up. It was a big fat wire.

I gasped in fear at the sight of this.

And just as he was about to use the wire on me, the sound of the opening door interrupted, and there, behold, Caroline, his wife, who must have heard the sound of my voice.

“Get out, Iris. Get out now!!” Luna Caroline screeched out, and I could feel her anger in her voice, her eyes flaring with rage, her hatred towards me evident in how much she hated to see me in the same room with her mate.

Without a word, I quickly walked out of their sight, feeling remorseful for my actions. Maybe I shouldn't have gone too far. Maybe I shouldn't have let my emotions get the best of me.

What would become of me if Luna chose to punish me right now? With tears running down my face that refused to stop,

I rushed to my room and started crying.

Letting out those tears drop falling from my eyes like a raindrop. Those tears that have been holding for some time now, it's time to cry out my heart like a newborn baby who's been starving of his mother's breast.

Maybe that will make me feel better.

The anticipation of the clock clicking (8pm) filled me up with anxiety and anxiety.

Finally!! It was the time. The time for me to leave this place .

Throughout the entire day, I had locked myself in my room and refused to open the door despite the numerous knocks and shouts from Alpha Carson, who has threatened to kill me once the "MATING BALL" is over.

Today was the MATING BALL. A social gathering where unmated wolves come together with the hope of finding their destined mates.

I will use that opportunity to escape out of their sight tonight and far away.
