Horace’s POV

I stared at her, trying to decipher what she was playing at, but she didn’t even look at my face. Instead, her face was glued to the movie playing before us.

She was focusing on the movie when my own world was spinning. I decided not to keep quiet about it.

“Elena, what do you mean by that?“

Silence. Still no turning from the TV.

I scoffed, shocked by everything happening around me.

“So if Michael wants to get back together, you would do it?” I asked again, not caring that she was ignoring me, but I was still met with silence.

It got me more antsy, and I was about to ask for the third time When she finally turned, bursting into laughter.

“Oh my goodness, Horace. Relax, it’s a joke.”

She said, still laughing hard and trying to catch her breath, and I just sat there as the realization hit me.

Of course, it was a joke. How the hell did I not even realize that earlier?
