Ruben De Montrose just lay there watching her sleep. He had hoped that his wolf would be satisfied now. She had fallen asleep due to the exertion and the bite. She would be knocked out for hours. He couldn't leave her now. His wolf won't allow it. He wasn't vain, but he knew he was in excellent shape. He just hoped she liked what she saw. He certainly liked what he had laying beside him. She was a human and knew nothing about him. So, he would have to be patient and teach her his ways, and a few other things he would enjoy teaching her. The thought made his loins tighten up again.

The entire house was at a standstill, the present emotional state of the pack leader reverberated in the compound, even his betas did everything possible to keep their distance. The alpha was not to be disturbed. This was more of an emergency than whatever else anyone had to bring up.
No one knew the identity of the female the Alpha had brought with him, he had taken her into his chamber before anyone could even make out her form. Speculations were rife, within an hour of his entrance, the entire house and compound had been filled with whispers and murmurs, could it be her? The long-awaited mate of their alpha? What were the odds? Just a few days back, he had called a pack meeting solely to tell everyone in no uncertain terms to get the fuck off his back, from betas to omegas, there was one clear message. Stop the gossip regarding his future mate. Anyone caught having discussions on that topic would be punished. What the punishment was? He had left to their overactive imaginations.
Now, the same Alpha was fretting over some woman he had met at a club. The pack members were excited about finally having a Luna to soothe their Alpha, who was in desperate need of a woman's touch, which meant more than a one-time roll in the sack. However, the pack managed to keep their excitement at bay until they heard from the alpha himself or one of the betas.

A chirping bird made Lisa's eyes flicker open. She rubbed them a few times before turning over and clutching the pillow. Her alarm hadn't gone off yet and when it did, she planned on hitting snooze. The sheet slid down her bareback and she winced. She never slept naked, where were her pyjamas? Then, like a ton of bricks, reality came crashing down. Clutching the sheet to her chest, she sat up in bed.
Her heart raced when she realized this wasn't her tiny home. Instead, she was in a decent-sized room that looked like it was featured in a designer homes catalogue. Everything was wood, the walls, ceiling, doors, bed, even a chair in the corner looked carved from oak. Her eyes focused on the chair, placed on top was a stack of clothing, including her silver dress. Diving off the bed, she went for the pile. She pulled on her dress and started looking for her underwear. She could not find them.
She told herself this was a one-night stand. On her first day of turning 18, and already she had gone home with a man and lost her virginity. And what a fine male specimen took it. But why the hell was she here? What place was it?A knock on the door broke her thoughts. She debated hiding or looking for a weapon. The door creaked open before she could make her move, so she froze. Ruben walked in. He matched the décor of the room in a flannel shirt and jeans.
“How are you feeling?” His voice was hypnotic as if it were trying to force her to relax.
Her mouth dropped open, but no words came out. She couldn't believe she had slept with a Mafia boss.
“This can be difficult. Why don't you have a seat?” He walked over to the chair and sat down, signalling for her to sit on the bed.
His voice continued to soothe and relax her, but her internal monologue urged her to run away. She willed her legs to move and took off towards the open door. She reached for the door frame when powerful arms wrapped around her waist, stopping her momentum and hoisting her in the air. She started screaming, kicking her legs and pulling at the arms. The man was as immovable as a mountain.
“CALM DOWN.”
She froze in his arms. He let out a sigh and carried her over to the bed, plopping her down. What just happened? Why did she listen to him? She sat up on the bed and pulled her legs to her chest, hugging them like a child who needed some sense of security. She forced the tears away, not wanting to appear weak or broken. The reassuring smile returned to his face as he pulled the chair closer towards her.
“Please don't hurt me, I'll never tell anyone about this place, okay? I promise, let me go home, and I won't ever bug you again?” She mumbled to her knees as a lone tear ran down her cheek.
“Nobody is going to hurt you.” He shook his head. “You have my word.”
She lifted her head and her eyes went wide. Then it hit her, it wasn't the same room. She didn't remember much from the previous night, but she did remember they went towards some room in the back of the club, and they weren't this luxurious. This looked like some kind of mafia hideout. She touched the bite mark on her neck, it stung. She had heard about love bites, never realized it meant an actual bite. Damm! He was wild!
“I am sorry about that, close your eyes,” His voice was like velvet.Without knowledge of what was to come, Lisa couldn't honour his request. He sighed and shook his head.
“You're a strong one,” he said. He dropped the smile and narrowed his eyes on her. “Close. Your. Eyes.”
Her lids snapped shut immediately. It was almost magic. She knew it was still her choice, nothing was forcing her, but she wanted to listen to him. She felt the pain subside as if he had willed it to stop hurting.
“You can't go back,” he said firmly.
Her eyes flew open.“What! Please, you promised that you just wanted a date with me. You got what wanted and more.” She mumbled,” please let me go. I won't tell anyone that you are a mafia.”He stared at her with an amused expression, then burst into laughter. She looked on perplexed as he rolled in laughter then struggled to stop laughing, though a smile remained on his lips.
“Trust me, I am not a mafia, I am not doing anything illegal.”
“What do you want from me?” She asked, terrified.“I'm not going to tie you up in the dungeon. Unless you want me to,” he smirked. “You have to understand that I didn't plan on you coming here so soon. I thought we'd get to know each other a little better. It doesn't matter much, though. You're here now.”
What the hell was he talking about? He was a certified lunatic!
“But I have school, my mom would be worried about me. I need to go back.”
“You will go back, and your school won't be hampered. Just wait for a while. I need to explain a few things to you.”
She cowered on the bed, refusing to look at him. Tears streamed down her face. He sighed and stood up.
“You must be hungry, I will send you some breakfast. Then we'll talk. Ok?”
She didn't reply. He quietly left the room.

“Did you tell her? Andrea asked as soon as Ruben arrived in the Alpha's office.
“I tried, but she is not ready yet,” he replied.
"Yet you bit her?”
“That was in the spur of the moment, I preferred not to mate with her. It just happened.” He said regretfully.
“So she is your mate? Finally!” Andrea punched the air in happiness,” after all these years! Finally, you will be tied up.”
“Not so fast, we are not yet mates. She would have to turn and then complete the mate bond. She also has a life, and it won't be easy to convince her,” He replied, rubbing his forehead.
“ I am sure she will agree, she has already slept with you. She is your mate, she can't run away from that.”
“Hopefully,” Ruben sighed. He had never imagined that his mate would be a human, they hadn't turned anyone in nearly 50 years.
“Do you want me to talk to her? We are somewhat close after I saved her from those bullies.” Andrea said.
“Sure, go ahead. And send some breakfast for her.”
A few minutes later she walked towards Ruben's room and opened the oak panelled door. The room was empty. She sniffed the air trying to check if Lisa was in the bathroom. Apart from a faint lingering trace of her scent nothing remained. She glanced at the chair, it's was devoid of her purse and her phone. Lisa had escaped. There werewolves and vampires in the room. Lisa's scarlet dress clung to her figure snugly, making her appear more shapely. Ruben spun her across the dance floor, bringing her through unfamiliar moves. She admired the way he made it appear as though she knew what she was doing. She felt a sting as his gaze shifted away from hers. Everyone kept reminding her that this night was all about her, but it was also partly about him. He was her mate, and she had been increasingly aware since the transformation that it was in his nature to desire the best for her and the pack. He wanted to talk business with the Alphas of the other packs because he was surrounded by them, but he was stuck with her. "So, who is the blue-shirted gentleman?" Lisa inquired. Ruben answered with a deep growl that she wouldn't have heard a few weeks before. He was still a little possessive of her. Ruben said, "Lucian. He's the Crimson Shadow Pack's Alpha. They are from Florida. We don
The pack was standing together in a circle. Beth and those who had died in the battle were honoured with a brief memorial service.Lisa approached Andrea, who was solemnly observing the happenings. Andrea was depressed, she could tell. She was reminiscing about Elizabeth, small details like how the old wolf made up stories."She loved you. She expressed her gratitude for being such a nice friend." Lisa said.Andrea turned around and looked at her with a puzzled expression."I met her after I was put into a coma. It felt like a dream, yet I believe she came to see me."Andrea stifled a sob as she continued, "I miss her."Lisa took her hand in hers and gently squeezed it. "We all miss her. She claimed, however, that she had a good life and wished to be free. We should probably be happy for her. And most of her stories were made up. But you already know that right?"Andrea gave her a friendly grin and a nod.*************
Sebastian had been bothered by something, so he patiently waited for the meeting to end before scooting over to Ruben and his companion."Ruben, when you say I'm now a member of the pack, do you mean I have to obey you like your dogs?" He roared, his rage erupting in waves. Andrea was rolling her eyes and trying not to giggle as he turned to face her."Whatever gave you that idea, Sebastian?" she asked softly, her arms slipping around his shoulders."Alphas don't give ridiculous orders every five minutes. That is not my objective." Ruben said, amusingly, he understood vampire-wolf mating would be difficult. Vampires were fiercely self-reliant and thrived in their seclusion. Wolves, on the other hand, were devoted to their packs and could not survive without them."Excuse my scepticism, but what exactly do you mean by being a part of the pack?"Sebastian asked sarcastically."It was the quickest means to show my pa
Lisa's chest rose and fell in front of Ruben's eyes. He knew she was his, but he wasn't sure if she realised he belonged to her as well. He carefully lifted her shoulders and climbed out from beneath her when the doorbell rang. On the other side, he was not surprised to see Serena."How is she doing?""Sleeping," he explained.Serena responded, "The last thing that girl needs is more sleep."Ruben stated, "She is alive. Don't think I'm unaware of my good fortune. That's the only thing that matters.""Can you tell me what she remembers?" Serena inquired.Ruben said, "Not much. However, she recalls her mother's or rather her aunt's betrayal.""Mary is still imprisoned among us. What are your plans for her?" Serena enquired."Kill her," Ruben stated emphatically.Serena's pupils dilated."Lisa?""Lisa is unconcerned about my decision. And she has no desire to know."Serena smiled and n
Lisa apologised, "I'm sorry, I don't understand." "Can you tell me what you remember?" Beth inquired. "I recall feeling like I was being sucked into an abyss. I had no sensations. I only saw darkness everywhere, punctuated by agonising screaming." As she described her ordeal, Lisa trembled. "Well, he came close to catching you. Until I arrived and expelled him." Beth remarked. "Are you....dead?" Beth burst out laughing. "Nobody ever dies; they only pass into another realm. Reincarnate into a new body after bidding their time. You offered me the freedom I so sorely desired but couldn't achieve on my own. It can be tiresome to live a long life. Don't be concerned about me. I'm fine." Lisa blinked, unsure of what she was seeing. Then she spotted Beth's red hair, which was identical to hers. "I am your one-in-a-million grandaunt," Beth explained. "What
It had been a week and a half. Ten days since everything had ended. Andrea stood in the doorway of the clinic, watching Ruben gently lower his sleeping mate onto her bed. With a profound frown on his face, he covered her and then looked down at her.Sebastian muttered gently from behind her, "Hey," and she knew exactly what he wanted to hear, but she didn't believe it was the best time.He started to add, "Andrea, she'll be OK..." but her head swung around and his deep blue eyes pierced into her green ones. She groaned and walked down the corridor to a bench to sit.She said calmly, "Lisa was fatally injured. Beth is still missing, and I believe it's all my fault."Sebastian was stiff, his rage pouring out in waves, yet when he spoke again, his tone was soothing. "That is not the case. Even you were on the verge of passing away. Dorcas' use of you as bait was not your fault."Andrea bit her lower lip and swallowed."I miss Beth b
