CYRIL’S POV

The smoke was so fucking thick, and it almost suffocated me as I headed towards the falling structure.

The roof was caving in places, as the heat from the fire licked at my skin. I didn’t flinch. My only focus was Raine, she had to be in there and I was hanging on to hope that I was going to find her.

I stormed past the men, not bothering to waste anymore time, but before I could get too close; a few of them stepped in front of me.

“Sir, wait just give us a second,” one of them said. “The fire’s burning too quickly, we think it’s best to survey the structure's integrity before anyone goes in.”

I stared at him like he’d lost his damn mind.

“I don’t have time for this shit,” I snapped. “My woman is in there.”

“Boss…”

“No,” I growled, already walking forward. “You want to play it safe? You stay here. I’m going to get her.”

They called after me, their boots scrambling behind me, but I didn’t give a fuck.

The heat hit me like a brick wall. I ducked under a fallen beam, flame

CYRIL’S POVThe next day, the doctor stood before me, a stern look on his face. My eyes followed him closely, as he checked Raine’s vitals. It had been his daily routine for the past two days and I was hoping he would have some good news this time. “Any improvements?” I inquired when he finally pulled away.“She’s stable now,” he began. “The medication has mostly cleared from her system. She's just… a little flighty.” “Flighty?” I repeated, my eyes narrowing. “She seems nervous. Distracted. She’s very alert, but still clearly shaken.” He stated, calmly. “It’s nothing serious. It’s quite common after a traumatic event.”I wasn’t surprised to hear this. She had every reason to be devastated. She’d been drugged, locked up, and dragged through the kind of nightmare that would level most grown men. I gave him a stiff nod and he excused himself. The minute the door shut behind him. I looked down at Raine who was sitting upright in the bed. Her light brown eyes were clouded and her hair

CYRIL’S POV Raine’s scream ripped through the room before her eyes even opened. I was out of my seat in a second, hovering over the hospital bed. My heart raced as she thrashed around, her chest heaving, and her fingers pulling the sheets roughly. She looked like she’d woken up mid-nightmare and hell, maybe she had.“Raine,” I said firmly, grabbing her shoulders, “it’s me. You’re safe. You’re with me now, alright?”She froze, tilted her head and then stared at me wide-eyed. That look on her face? The fear in her eyes? It shattered something in me. “Cyril?” She rasped. No words came out afterwards and I watched her face crumpled as she broke down. Her sobs were so raw, they twisted my stomach into knots.“I thought I was going to die in there,” she cried, throwing herself into me like she needed to make sure I was real and it wasn’t a dream. “I thought I’d never see you again.” I held her tight, burying my face in her hair. Her skin was still warm. Her breath hitched in short gasp

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   169: Won’t See This Coming.

CYRIL’S POVI walked into the office with a headache, eyes tht hurt like hell, and a fire in my chest that hadn’t gone out in days. Raine was still trapped in some place I couldn’t fucking reach, and even though I had men on it, I hated sitting around waiting like a helpless fool.I managed to pull myself out of my thoughts and as I walked into the conference room, the doors closed behind me with a heavy thud. I didn’t bother to sit.“Let’s get started,” I said, my voice flat but it also carried this edge to it that made everyone aware that I didn’t come here to mess around.I glanced around the table and noticed as Jamie nodded from the far end of the table. Peter and the rest of the tech crew had their laptops open, Kyle and his right-hand man were leaning against the glass with their arms crossed over their chest, looking like they meant business. Silvan sat with his usual poker face, but I could tell he was tense. “We need to buy as much stock from Harken Media as humanly possi

RAINE’S POVI blinked my eyes open slowly, feeling the now-too-familiar weight settle into my limbs. It was that heavy, sinking feeling like my body had been dipped in syrup. My mind, though groggy, was starting to put the pieces together. This wasn’t just exhaustion. It wasn’t grief or burnout either. Something was wrong—seriously wrong.Every time I ate, I got knocked out like a freaking baby. At first, I thought it was stress or my body trying to cope with everything, but today? Today I realized it had to be more than that.Talon was definitely drugging me.The thought was enough to make my stomach churn. I shifted on the sofa, staring across the room. Talon had come down earlier, dressed in black slacks and a white button-down, looking like a polished gentleman who couldn’t hurt a fly. Casually, he’d sat beside me, gently feeding me eggs and toast, brushing my hair back like he was doing me a favor. Then, as always, I started to doze off halfway through the meal. My head dropped

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   167: Told You Not To Cross That Line

CYRIL’S POVI paced the living room like a caged lion, I hadn’t slept in two days. My eyes were burning, but that didn’t matter right now. Every second that passed without Raine’s voice made my blood boil hotter. There was still no positive update about her and it was killing me. I had all these clues that led nowhere, at least for now it hasn’t. My phone buzzed on the table, I stopped pacing and slowly headed towards it. A sliver of hope stirred in my chest as I swiped the call and held it to my ear. It was Aaron. “Speak.”“We’ve got confirmation. The Russian government is backing us now.” His bubbly voice came through and I knew this had to do with the election we had been discussing for years.I didn’t respond right away. My mind was still half in the gutter, thinking of Raine. But I pushed that back for a minute. “So they’re ready to move?” “They are,” he said. “Once we lock in our people for this next election, the presidential seat’s ours. We sweep the foundation first: gove
