Chapter 3

Author: Washing Wheat
"How can someone be this shameless? She's still playing the victim! Why don't you just die?"

"You went as far as hurting the people who loved you most. What were you thinking?"

"You're desperate to be a homewrecker, aren't you? Even your best friend's dad wasn't off limits?"

"Can we just sentence her to death already? Even better, send her to the Men's Nation and make her a disposable tool for the rest of her life!"

"This is so sad… I can't believe someone as considerate as Landon ended up like this because of love."

My expression shifted slightly. I clenched my damp palm and stayed silent.

Men's Nation was no joke. If I really ended up there, it wouldn't be something I could walk away from.

"Silence!"

The judge slammed the gavel down again, and the comments section finally eased up.

He stared at me with open disgust and said coldly, "Annabeth Leavitt, did you cause the death of Landon Schmidt's father, sell Schmidt Group's confidential information, and defraud someone of their assets? Did you knowingly insert yourself into another family, leading to someone's death?"

I nodded, neither confirming nor denying anything more than necessary.

"I did."

The courtroom fell silent for a moment. Only the faint sound of the comments section scrolling remained.

The judge clearly hadn't expected that kind of answer. He was so angry that he couldn't speak for a moment.

After a long pause, he glanced at the comments section, cleared his throat, and said, "Then you are sentenced to life imprisonment in Men's Nation.

"All your assets will be confiscated and used to compensate Landon Schmidt. For the crime of adultery, one of your legs will be amputated. Do you plead guilty?"

I looked straight at him and laughed. "No, I don't."

I turned to Landon and Yvette with an arrogant expression. The malice in my eyes was impossible to hide.

"So what if I did it?" I said. "I didn't do anything wrong, so I'm not pleading guilty."

I lifted my chin high, not missing a single flicker of expression on their faces.

Because of the memory extraction, Landon's face was deathly pale. He could barely hold himself up. Even so, he kept staring at me, eyes wide and pleading, like a dog begging not to be abandoned.

"Annabeth, you didn't do anything wrong. So… could you love me just a little? Even just a little would be enough."

Yvette had completely broken down. She was on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably, her face streaked with tears.

She even hurt herself, slapping her face until it turned bright red, yet she still screamed hoarsely at me, "Annabeth, why? My parents raised you for so many years, and this is how you repay them? Didn't my mom treat you well enough?"

The comments section exploded because of my arrogance. One comment stood out in particular.

"Annabeth, do you even have a conscience? You got so many people killed and ruined people's families, yet you still dare say you did nothing wrong? They were basically your parents. How can you show zero remorse?"

Countless curses surged toward me, converging like bolts of lightning as they struck my body. In no time, the pain had me shaking all over, blood seeping from the corner of my lips.

The judge lowered his voice and struck the gavel again. "Annabeth Leavitt, do you plead guilty?"

I clenched my fists tightly, swallowed the metallic taste in my mouth, straightened my back, and said, "I don't."

The enforcement officers were furious. They didn't even bother waiting for my plea and directly unleashed the lightning punishment on me.

With a loud bang, Landon rushed forward and threw himself in front of me, taking the strike in my place.

Moments later, his back was a bloody mess, but he still forced himself to stay upright and gently brushed my cheek. "Annabeth… are you okay?"

I watched him struggle in front of me with cold indifference. Then I kicked him back toward Yvette.

Under immense pressure and a flood of vicious comments, I spoke again, my voice firm and clear.

"I, Annabeth Leavitt, did nothing wrong. I will never plead guilty. This court is not qualified to judge me, and I request that my case be escalated to the Supreme Court. If the final verdict finds me guilty, I will end my life on the spot. Do you dare to do the same, Landon?"

It was useless. The Supreme Court didn't operate on human sentiment. Once a verdict was reached, it couldn't be overturned."Hahaha! You pleaded guilty. Once you plead guilty, you have to die. You're no different from me!" Yvette laughed through her tears. Her face was twisted with excitement and madness. "You won't show mercy, so let's die together!"At that point, I became strangely calm. I sat beneath the golden light without saying a word and waited for death to arrive.Micah was forcibly pushed off the platform as the Supreme Court had reached its final stage and was about to announce the verdict.A cold, mechanical voice echoed through the hall, making everyone shudder."Landon Schmidt fabricated evidence, committed countless murders, and committed treason. The final verdict is… guilty. His soul will be erased. No matter how many lifetimes pass, he will never be reborn in this nation."Yvette Carter indirectly caused her mother's death. She extorted money, spread false acc

"Aren't you all curious where Annabeth's money went? Could it be that she paid people off after killing someone to keep them quiet?""Oh damn… then that means…"I clutched my throbbing head and looked at Yvette, my face drained of all color. Those years of memories were unbearable to face. Even recalling them sent wave after wave of fear crashing down on me.Almost instinctively, my body began to tremble, and I couldn't process a single word around me."Annabeth! Annabeth, are you okay? Annabeth, it's okay. I'm right here with you. No one's going to hurt you."The physical pain, combined with those memories, finally broke me. I covered my face and sobbed uncontrollably, crying so hard that I nearly passed out.As if that wasn't enough, Yvette pointed at the scars on her face and shouted, "Look, this is the warning Annabeth gave me! She exposed all of this on purpose so she could build a tragic image and make even more money later. This was all just another scam!""Enough!" Mica

That was how he left evidence behind. Following the remnants of Schmidt Group's files and the filthy underground labs, we finally uncovered his true motive. It was treason. For over a decade, he had been sending people overseas for experiments. Those who failed had their organs harvested and their bodies discarded like trash. For fame and profit, he conducted live experiments for years until he extracted a strange substance. He called it "Immortality".He targeted wealthy clients overseas—people obsessed with extending their lives—and sold it to them at exorbitant prices. That was how his reputation grew and how he amassed his fortune.By the time Micah and I uncovered the truth, he had already killed thousands. If not for the forgotten notebook in the basement, we would've remained clueless. The footage ended on the image that Micah and I had watched together through a hidden camera.Landon's face was flushed red, veins bulging from his temples. His expression was filled wi

The murmurs from the audience were loud enough to reach my ears."Organ trafficking? Was Landon part of Schmidt Group? That case shocked the whole country back then!""That was how my kid died. Landon Schmidt deserves to die! How did he have the nerve to judge someone else?""Yvette killed her own mother… just for money."Then someone commented, "Wait. Let's not jump to conclusions. What if it was an accident?"That comment was immediately torn apart by the rest of the viewers."Are you serious? Who would dare fabricate evidence before the Supreme Court? This is the truth!""No wonder Annabeth refused to plead guilty. If it were me, I wouldn't either.""But did anyone notice Landon? If he could kill his own father, he's far more ruthless than we thought. He's even meticulous enough to wipe away his traces after sleeping. Do you really think he was just an accomplice?""That comment has to be close to the truth."Landon completely lost control. He screamed and struggled, slamm

"Oh my God, that was terrifying! His true colors are showing!""Wait, she called him Landon. What on earth is going on?""Don't tell me he… got plastic surgery?""So there really is a twist. No wonder Annabeth was willing to die just to stand before the Supreme Court!""But hold on, her memories don't even line up with Landon's. Could she have faked it?""Are you kidding? The Supreme Court would've detected any forged memories. Don't underestimate its abilities!"I ignored the chaos in the comments. Instead, I glanced at the judge. Concern flickered in his eyes. I smiled faintly and motioned for the judgment to continue. The footage resumed, following my memories. It showed how I sought out Gianco Group, the only force capable of standing against Schmidt Group. After securing their partnership, I stole classified Schmidt Group files several times.Layer upon layer of documents filled the screen. They were years' worth of organ-trafficking records.Only after Schmidt Group c

I shook my head and kicked Yvette away when she lunged at me again."If I'm going to be judged, then let's take it to the Supreme Court. They brought me here themselves. If they wanted a verdict, then they should've been prepared for how far this would go."Listen up, everyone. If I come out of this court alive, then every single person who's been cursing at me should brace themselves for the backlash! I mean it."There was an unwritten rule surrounding the Supreme Court. If someone survived it, every viewer who had insulted that person through the live stream would suffer ten times the backlash. No one had ever confirmed whether this was true, because no one had ever survived. However, I intended to be the first. Anyone who had insulted me would have to accept the consequences. After all, kind words led to kindness in return, and malice always came back around.I caught the flicker of guilt in Landon's and Yvette's eyes. Before the session even officially began, Landon was alr
