I couldn't breathe.

Jake met Alex. Jake met my son. Jake met HIS son.

The text message stared back at me from my phone screen. *"We need to talk. Monday morning. First thing. Don't be late."*

My hands were shaking so badly I dropped the phone. It clattered onto the kitchen floor.

"No, no, no, no, no." I pressed my hands against my face. "This can't be happening. Not like this."

I grabbed my phone and called the school. My fingers fumbled with the buttons.
