As Max left the room with the boy holding his hand it made every other adult in the room stop and look at him. He knew they had thought the area was completely clear but it wasn’t and that had everyone of them do a double take. The acting supervisor of the scene finally cleared his throat, “Who are you and who is that?”
“I am Detective Max Anderson of the Highlands police department. The guys here know me. This is my wife’s house now. This guy is Dean. It was brought to my attention while at the hospital and I got the chance to talk to one of the boys that he was left behind.” Max said as he chuckled. “The thing about my wife’s family is they really liked to hide things.”
“You didn’t think it was necessary to talk to me before going into a secure area?” the man said and Max looked at him dead in the face and laugh
The Medics that were there at the scene looked over Dean quickly and he was sent via ambulance to the hospital to join the others. Max was in the car riding behind them. Though he knew he had to be there he also knew this was going to be a long journey ahead of him and Deanna. The blows would never really stop coming from her family though she had nothing to do with them.As expected the DA was calling him and he didn’t want to deal with the other man. Though he also knew that he had to give a run down to the man so everything could be halted for the trail. They had to find David’s part in this. It was never going to be finished though in Max’s eyes. David would never give them everything they needed. It was his sick way of controlling everything now. His mother had warped his brain. Nothing else would really matter to him but himself making everyone wait. Tha
“Did you need to have a conversation, my love?” Max chuckled as he lifted the other baby into his arms and he looked down into the face of the baby. Though he could see himself in the baby and the other that she was holding he could see small glimpses of her in them too. All he really wanted in life was knowing they would be as strong as their mother. He looked to her as he knew she was looking at him. She had her camera app open and was taking a picture of him with the small baby. He grinned as he looked back. “I haven’t been doing my job of taking hundreds of photos of you with them have I? this proves I am not the best father.”“It’s okay.” She said as she laughed, “I have made up for it.”“Oh no.” he said with shake of head. “But you see you take enough like with one or tw
When the babies both let out a whine and then followed by wails Max looked at both of them and smiled though he had been dozing on the pull out sofa bed when they had begun to make little sounds that made him stand and go to them. He picked one of the up and checked their diapers and both needed to be changed. He did it quickly and by the time he was done he saw that Deanna was blinking her eyes open. He looked at her and saw the changes that motherhood had already brough. He chuckled to himself as he couldn’t bring himself to look away from her chest.“See something you like?” she asked as she saw what her husband was looking at. When she reached out her arms to get one of the boys. Riley started rooting for her breast as soon as he was in her arms. Max laughed slightly as he watched his son try to get at her chest as well. She surprised him through when she
Kit had not disappointed with her help calling in a favor, Deanna was released the next day. Though she was sore she was surprisingly doing well even with the incisions. Kit called later and said if she needed any help to call and she would be there as soon as she could be. It was good to have a friend who was a doctor in cases like this. Deanna felt better than she had in months though. She knew understood why it had always felt different from what people had said.“I think I will have to go and talk to someone finally.” Deanna said as the two settled down for a minute in the comfort of their house. Areas had been set up and the introduction of their newest brothers had gone well. Deanna had talked about the babies so much they were basically ignored until one of them made a sound. The triplets didn’t even bother at the sight of Deanna breast feeding but Mich
Deanna was now relaxing as it seemed everyone else was dozing off. Michelle was now in her crib fast asleep. The triplets were in their rooms going to sleep. It was now just her and Max on the couch with the two babies in the swing.“We do have to talk.” Max said.“I know.” Deanna said. “I got a call back about the house. They are interested in a quick sale. All we have to do is go and sign the contract and next week we could have the keys and deed.”“I forgot how well money talks.” Max laughed, “Being I never had it like you do I really wouldn’t have ever known.”“Max be serious. It is your money too.” Deanna said.“As much as I love you Deanna that money is something I will never want to touch.&
The next day they got up from the bed they shared that was warm to go and get the twins for their morning feeding. He wasn’t looking forward to having a long day with them again. Not that the boys were any part of the problem. It was going to be just a difficult day. Deanna would be going back to the hospital to see the two other boys today for the first time. Max knew either way the decision she would have to start making would be hard for her to make. She wanted to take them in. He did as well. They could over look who they were biologically to Deanna. The fact that was holding them back was what the damage could be to them. Not just their problems with the genetics but being in the hole for their entire lives. What they had to endure there could eb the thing that kept them from coming home with the couple.
When they got to the hospital Deanna crawled in the back and looked over the two babies. She knew that they would be waking up again soon to eat so as she checked them for a clean diaper she decided to take a moment to feed them then. Max just watched with a smile on his face as she seemed to be a complete natural when it came to the new found motherhood she now had. As she finished with both he looked up to her face, “That was faster than normal.”“They didn’t want to much this time.” She said with a shoulder shrug. “They as just tired right now. I didn’t want to get in there and see the boys and then they have to eat.”“Makes sense.” Max said as he got out and opened the side door. He took each car seat and put them on the stroller and helped her down as he had the backpack on his back. This
“I am really your aunt.” Deanna said, “I know I look a lot alike your momma. She was my twin sister. Like you two are alike.”“Not momma?” one of the boys asked as he peeked out of the hiding spot. He was confused but he seemed to understand what she was saying.“Not really.” She said as she looked at him. “Drew?”“That what they call me.” The boy said as he scooted out from the table. He reached out his hand and went to touch her face. Deanna smiled at him. She could hear the things Max was talking about in the boys words he spoke. It was almost a lisp but it was more than that. Deanna started making a list of all the things the boys would need. That was when the other boy scooted out as well. The size difference between them would make it slightly easier t
