Chapter 58 You Lied to Me Too!

Author: Day Torres
Liam watched her walk away, that same determined look on her face as always. Something inside him was breaking. It wasn't true. Max wasn't disposable to him, but he couldn't blame her for not trusting him.

Liam knew he'd never been a saint, but at least he'd always been upfront with her. He'd always told her the truth. When he thought he wasn't cut out for marriage, he'd told her straight up. When all he wanted was to sleep with her, he'd said so. He'd even made out with that snake Caroline Wolf right in front of her… and when he started catching feelings, when he actually started to care… he'd told her that too.

He'd been honest with Max about everything. That's why it hurt so damn much that she hadn't done the same. She had every right not to love him. But damn it, he'd told her he loved her! How could she hide the truth after that?!

Thorne returned to the door, and he and Weston exchanged a look, unsure if they should stay or go.

He finished undressing and slowly undressed Max as well. A lump rose in his throat when he realized she was thinner than he remembered—but every curve of her body was still just as beautiful, and Liam couldn't help but smile, biting his lower lip when he found himself face-to-face with the lovely curve of her belly. He touched it gently, but he couldn't stop his body from reacting to her the way it always had—just the sight of her was enough. One thing hadn't changed: he was crazy about his woman. He felt her warm lips on his, and suddenly he was taken back to the first time they'd been together. But the passion now burned even deeper—because now, there was love. Slowly, they let the hot water from the shower wash over them, easing the tension from their bodies. They held each other tightly, desire growing between them as the water poured over their skin like a blessing, wrapping them in a protective bubble where nothing else existed but the two of them. "I love you," they both s

  • Bride of the Billionaire Beast   Chapter 80 A Long Story

Max took a deep breath when she realized they were finally alone and safe. There was still a lot to do to fortify the cabin and make it truly secure, but for now, at least, no one had tracked them there. She pressed herself against Liam's chest, feeling the small curve of her belly between them. They'd have to go to a hospital at some point, check on how the baby was developing—but that could wait a little longer. He took her hand, and together they stepped into the cabin. The cold was already sinking into their bones, and in just a couple of weeks, the snow would begin to fall. The cabin was built from stone and wood. The walls were rough, the beams thick and dark. The sloped roof was made of heavy logs covered in a thick layer of grass and mud—perfect for keeping warmth in during the winter and cool air in the summer. From the outside, it looked small, but it had two stories and a wraparound porch that was simple and rustic. The surroundings were wild and untouched: a lake, a

Liam looked around, and his heart shattered. It was a safe hideout, yes—but still nothing more than the underbelly of a medieval castle. "Yes… I've been here ever since I arrived on the cargo ship. I came in one of the containers." Liam felt like his soul was being crushed. Two weeks in a container, out at sea, alone and with no help. If it weren't for the fact that she was alive—and that changed everything—he would've lost his mind thinking about all that Max had endured during those months. "Listen, baby, I've got enough money too, so let's get out of here. Right now. Do you feel up for it?" Between the two of them, Liam clearly looked worse—worn out from days of travel—but Max was the one who was pregnant, and he couldn't help but worry about her. Still, he was ready to push through whatever it took to keep her safe. "Yes, of course I do," she said, and as she spoke, a smile started to bloom on her lips. Max quickly gathered only the essentials, Liam slung his backpack o

  • Bride of the Billionaire Beast   Chapter 78 You're Alive!

Max couldn't believe it. It was his voice. It was really him. But... he looked like he'd aged years, with that long beard, those dirty clothes, and… "Liam…?" she whispered, her voice catching—and then she heard him break down with a quiet sob. "Max!" Liam felt like he was about to lose his mind from pure happiness the moment he saw her face. "Max!" In an instant, the gun hit the ground and he closed the distance between them, pulling her into his chest. Believing she was dead had shattered him. Completely. "Oh my God! You're alive!" Max felt Liam's body tremble with sobs as he hugged her with everything he had. Neither of them could believe what was happening. Max returned the embrace, and for the first time in what felt like forever, she felt safe. His warmth wrapped around her, and she couldn't stop her own tears from falling. "I thought you were dead… I thought you were dead, my God!" he stammered desperately, kissing her face over and over. "I'm sorry, I couldn't reac

Leon sighed as he handed him another beer and didn't even bother offering painkillers as he knew Liam needed that pain to survive. It was the price he had to pay for those moments when he hadn't thought things through, for the times he'd turned his back on a woman who had given everything for him. Now, even hope just hurt. "You can stay here tonight… on one condition: please take a shower," he said. "We'll talk tomorrow." Liam did his best to follow through. He took a shower in the boat's tiny bathroom and tried to get some sleep in the little cabin bed, but his chest hurt too much—both inside and out. Those words kept echoing in his head: "If Max were alive, wouldn't she have found a way to contact you by now?" "What if she can't?" he muttered. "What if she just… can't?" Despite the pain, he sat up and immediately reached for his phone. A hunch—he didn't know why—led him to go through every number that had called him in the past three months. He started calling them back one

  • Bride of the Billionaire Beast   Chapter 76 No Way Out

Max woke up with a start. That sixth sense of hers—the one that always warned her when she was in danger—was blaring like a siren inside her. She got up quietly and pulled out the gun she kept under the bed, but not before slipping on her graphene vest. She loaded and cocked the pistol, trying not to make a sound, and moved through the narrow corridors of the hideout in complete silence. There was no one around, but she still didn't feel safe. She crept up to one of the hatches and didn't have to wait long before she heard footsteps outside. It was nighttime, and in the three months she'd been there, no one had ever come snooping around. Norsethorne wasn't exactly a town full of teenagers sneaking off to drink where their parents couldn't see them, so this could only mean one thing: they'd found her. Max rushed back to the main cell and quickly gathered her things, holding her breath even though she knew escaping without being seen was unlikely. She grabbed the bag she had alread
