Renee’s POV

“Come to the meeting hall,” Draven said, his grip tightening on Linda’s hand. “I want to make an announcement.”

They strode out of my office, smiling like they shared a secret. My secretary ducked her head and slipped away. I followed, legs heavy.

In the packed hall, Draven stood at the front, Linda beside him. “This meeting is to introduce our new team member. She’ll handle select projects alongside the current project manager. They’ll work closely to deliver excellence.”

His tone was flat, professional but the added “Treat her with respect” carried an unspoken edge. She was special.

Employees murmured, eyes flicking curiously to Linda’s bright smile.

“Thank you all for the warm welcome,” she said sweetly. “I look forward to working with you. And lastly…” She turned to Draven, voice dipping flirty, gaze lingering like he was dessert. “Thank you to the CEO for treating me so well.”

The whispers exploded. “Who is she?”

“He introduced her himself, he never does that.”

“The way he looks at her… do you think they’re…?”

I didn’t wait for the rest. I stormed out, my chest burning.

All these years, I’d slaved for this company, my husband’s empire while hiding our marriage. No special treatment. He barked at me like any employee, docked my time if I slipped. But Linda waltzes in, and he calls a full meeting? Lets her flirt openly while I’m forbidden to stand too close except for reports?

I paced his office, foot tapping a frantic rhythm.

The door swung open. Draven entered, casual as ever. If he was surprised, he hid it.

“What is the meaning of this, Draven?”

“It’s not what you think. My mother arranged it, Linda needs hands-on experience. With the Cardial project nearly done, it’s the perfect training ground.”

I exhaled shakily, anger boiling “How can she take credit for a project I bled for?”

He met my eyes, no remorse. “You’re family. Just do this for her.”

I shook my head, heart fracturing. “This company is yours, not mine.”

“It’s yours too. We’re married.” The words almost made me laugh. We looked nothing like a couple.

“In that case, transfer the shares you promised after the wedding. Now.”

I expected hesitation. Instead, he tapped his laptop, spun the screen. “Done.”

The exact amount we’d agreed on. My breath caught.

“I planned this since our wedding day,” he said quietly. “To secure your future and that of our unborn child’s.”

My heart melted. He’d never mentioned kids before. Tears pricked my eyes. This was the moment.

“Draven… I…”

A sharp knock. The door opened before he answered. Linda stepped in, freezing when she saw me.

“Sister-in-law, it’s not his fault,” she rushed. “He just wanted to help me with the role. If you’re upset, I’ll give it back.”

I arched a brow and turned to leave. She’d ruined everything again.

“Please don’t be mad…” She trailed me out, heels clicking loudly. Heads turned from cubicles.

“I thought you wanted to help your brother’s sister?” I tried to brush her off.

“You know he’d never let me be sad,” she whispered, a smirk flashing. “Even if you take the project, he’ll make sure it ends up mine.”

Her pleas grew louder, theatrical. “I can give it back if you want! I just thought you’d be kind enough…”

Employees strained to watch.

Draven’s reassurance still warmed me. I flashed a confident smile. “I couldn’t care less who handles it. He just transferred my shares. Good luck.”

She paused, processing, then followed me into the elevator. Arms crossed, expression tight.

“You should be at your desk, not chasing me,” I said. “Messing up a project is easier than you think.”

She stayed silent.

A loud bang echoed above us. The lights flickered, then died. Darkness swallowed everything.

I gripped the wall, one hand flying to my stomach. Without warning, the elevator plummeted.

I screamed. Linda did too. We dropped, fast and sickening.

Boom. It jerked to a halt. I slammed backward, pain exploding in my abdomen. I curled around my belly, gasping, legs useless under invisible weight.

Minutes dragged. No help.

“Open the doors!” Draven’s voice finally, frantic, banging. “Linda! Linda!”

“Help me!” she cried.

My small, hopeful smile vanished. But help was coming. For me. For the baby.

The doors pried open with a violent shudder.

Draven rushed in, straight to Linda. “Are you hurt? Talk to me.”

The pain surged, hot and stabbing. I winced, vision blurring.

“Draven!” My voice cracked, weak.

He turned. “Hold on, Renee. Linda’s claustrophobic, she panics in tight spaces. I'm sure you understand.”

“Please…” I reached for his leg, fingers brushing air. He was already lifting her.

“The workers will get you out.” He said. Sharp and dismissive.

He carried her away. The doors rattled behind them.

Tears streamed. Pain clawed deeper. I pressed both hands to my stomach, whispering through sobs.

“My baby… please, hold on…”

Darkness crept in at the edges. The world tilted.

And everything went black.

  • Burning The Creed Empire   Getting Her Back

Draven's POV“There it is.” His mother threw her hands in the air in frustration. “You always support and enable her smelly attitude and now you see where that has led you to?” She pushed her chair with the back of her leg and rose to her feet with a palpable frown. “You better find her and bring her back here as soon as possible.”There was silence. Neither Draven or Linda said a word. They waited until she stormed out of the dining room. Then Linda leaned close. “This is good news right?” She asked with a smile. “Don't mind mom. We can tell her about us later. I'm sure she'll come around. She loves seeing us get along—” The scraping of the chair forced her to stop talking. Draven stood to his feet and walked out without a word. His gaze lingered on Renee’s number as he settled on his bed. The unanswered calls, well, not unanswered. The calls that didn't go through at all. He stared at them for too long, he didn't know when his thumb moved to the ‘call’ icon and tapped on it

  • Burning The Creed Empire   Something More

Draven’s POVHe took the invitation as an excuse to stop thinking about Renee’s reckless act. She was just looking for attention. There's no way she should actually leave him. Those were the words he told himself before leaving the office. He met up with Linda who was waiting at the five star restaurant on the other side of town. “You look like there's something on your mind.” She noticed while they were eating. She'd given the excuse of the accident and didn't show up to work on that account. “Uh nothing. I.. I just had a lot of work to do. I had to come because you wanted to have lunch with me.” He replied absent mindedly. “Are you saying you're out here against your will?” Her words cut through his thoughts and he looked up from his food. Realizing he must have said something to make her face squeeze with a frown, he intervened. “No, that's not what I meant. I'm not saying I'm not happy to be here. I was just telling you where my mind was; on work.” She didn't believe him.

  • Burning The Creed Empire   Not Possible

Draven's POVThe office was quieter than usual. Or maybe it only felt that way because his mind refused to settle.Draven leaned back in his chair, eyes skimming over the document in front of him for what had to be the third time. The numbers were clear, the projections precise, but none of it stayed long enough in his head to make sense. His pen tapped once against the glass table. Then again. He stopped when the sound began to irritate him. There was a faint crease between his brows as he reached for his phone, unlocking it out of habit rather than intention. The screen lit up instantly.Nothing. Not even a missed call. Or a message. His thumb hovered for a second longer than necessary before he locked it and dropped it back onto the table. She needed time. That was what he told himself the moment she walked out of the hospital like that; silent, pale, distant. He had seen it before. Renee had always retreated into herself when things became too much.He exhaled slowly.Space has a

  • Burning The Creed Empire   Demand For Divorce

Renee’s POV I limped towards the curb to haul a cab. My legs felt heavy, I had to strain to lift each leg. I knew I needed rest but staying around Draven stole my peace. I got into the first cab that stopped and it drove me to the creed mansion. Thankfully, my mother in-law was not in sight. I went to the kitchen, the chef was stirring a pot with steam coming out of it. “Can you make something quick for me?” I asked, startling her. She nodded when she saw my face and I went to my room. I broke down in tears when I shut the door behind me. I was tired and drained. I wouldn't say I was acting with my senses, I didn't even stop to think. But there was nothing to think about. I knew I had to leave. It was as though the veil used to cover my eyes had been pulled and I was seeing things more clearly. I was never loved, only wishing and hoping to be seen by the man I'd shown nothing but love to. I made my way to the shower. Took off my clothes and settled into the bath tub, turned

  • Burning The Creed Empire   Calling Out the Bullshit

Renee’s PovDraven followed my hands with an arched brow.“What is the matter with you? Why did you stop the doctor halfway?”I swallowed hard and slowly looked up at the nurse, who still hadn't said a word.“I don't want to hear any more of it,” I replied, keeping eye contact with her and hoping she understood what I meant. She leaned back slightly, as if she did, then excused herself.“What was the meaning of that?” Draven asked, turning to me.I didn’t want to act suspicious, so I sighed.“She already said it all. I'm stressed and malnourished. I felt it was disrespectful to say that in front of my husband,” I said softly.“I didn’t want her to think you don’t feed me,” I added.“That’s exactly the problem, Renee. Why are you malnourished when there’s food in the house and you have full access to the kitchen? I should be asking you why the nurse is giving such a report.”I paused, my heart tightening as I looked at the man who was supposed to care for me.He had forgotten.Forgotte

  • Burning The Creed Empire   News Flash

Renee’s POVThe steady beep of the heart monitor pulled me from the darkness. My eyelids fluttered open to stark white walls and the sharp sting of antiseptic in my nose. For a long moment, my body felt disconnected, numb, heavy, like it belonged to someone else. Then the ache crept in: dull throbs along my spine from the fall, a lingering soreness in my abdomen that made every breath feel careful.I shifted, wincing as the hospital gown tugged against bruised skin. The room was dim, curtains drawn against the late-afternoon light. Empty. No Draven. No flowers, no worried face hovering over me. Just the cold beep-beep-beep and the faint hum of fluorescent lights overhead. The image flashed unbidden: Draven’s broad back retreating through the pried-open elevator doors, Linda cradled in his arms like something precious. He hadn’t even looked back. Not once. My hand had stretched toward him, fingers grasping air, while pain ripped through my stomach and tears burned my eyes. “My baby…”
